From the beginning, you understand Lana’s passion for nature and freedom.. It is deeply rooted in her soul. She does a good job of explaining how her dreams evolved, and showed us the path to their success. Comfortable in my stable life, it was refreshing to read her nomadic tales and witness her adventurous side.
I have never traveled to Costa Rica but first thing I did after finishing this book is google the Luna Lodge. Wow! I now wish to go!
This book is for all nature lovers and anyone wishing to explore the Costa Rican rainforest! Or like me, just to dream about it!
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley. My review opinions are my own. .
Lana Wedmore was just a skier from Colorado when she went on a trip to Costa Rico that changed her life forever. She not only returned to the area to live she began plans to build a Eco lodge and Yoga retreat. Many mishaps and problems occurred along the way but she was not deterred from her dream. This is here story of how she gained the confidence to do what others told her could not be done. I enjoyed this retelling of her story and especially enjoyed her triumph of building her lodge which today is very successful. A very inspiring story.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book! My opinions are my own.
I love nature, I love yoga and I love stories about people setting out to do something extraordinary. Naturally I was very excited to read this book!
This book contains the story of Lana Wedmore and her struggles and, more importantly, her hard work to realise her dream of building and managing her own lodge in Costa Rica. We follow Lana from a young age and see how she takes on any adventure life throws at her. She does not give up, she works hard and ultimately trusts the universe will show her what she needs. It's an inspiring story!
However, personally I would have liked to read more about the building and managing of the lodge, and the day to day life in the rainforest. I felt like there was a lot of building up the story until the point where construction of the lodge actually began. I understand that all of the things that happened in Lana's life were the things that lead her to making the decisions towards following her dreams, and as such were important to the story. Still, it felt like a bit much to me. The ratio of background story versus eco-lodge story was a bit off for me. Don't get me wrong - it is still an interesting and well written story! My expectations were just a little different.
This book has made me want to travel to Costa Rica and stay in the rainforest. Looking up the lodge on the internet only confirmed that. It seems like a little piece of heaven on earth. I would love to read more about the journey in the later years, after opening the lodge. More about the rainforest, about yoga and how wonderful, and difficult, it is to run a lodge in the middle of nowhere. So if there is ever a second book, I will surely read it!
Go read this book if you want to read a story of determination, setbacks and getting back on track!
