i really enjoyed getting to know Blague and their world, the story was interesting and I really liked the scifi elements. Overall this was a good read.
I was kinda disappoited by this book. I wanted to like it so much, but it just wasn't meant to be.
A shame.

I really wanted to like this book. The premise sounds interesting, the synopsis piqued my interest, and the cover is awesome. I really tried to love this book. But I just couldn’t. I made it about 75% if the way through but then just lost interest.
None of the characters really made a dent for me at all. Blague was incredibly dull and he had no reason to be. He should have been a really compelling character. But all he did was quiet and brooding, never saying much, then he’d come out with a rousing speech and that was about it. None of the other characters felt authentic to me. They didn’t feel like real people and they didn’t feel like the personalities they were given fit them at all.
There were a lot of great ideas in this book and I wanted to look forward to where it was going. The writing needs a lot of work though. The sentences are very clunky and there’s so many similes and metaphors stuffed in there that I had no idea what was going on most of the time. And other times there was way too much description, so much that it confused the situation. In a fight scene a character is described as having a mohawk, and I get reminded about his hair style no less than four times in the scene. I got it. I know. I didn’t forget. I could tell that there was a really good idea in there somewhere, but the abundance of simile and metaphor and flowery language just obliterated the meaning of the words.
There also wasn’t much explaining of this world at all. What is a sin? How did the world get this way? What exactly is the social structure here? Who are the ruling class? Why? I feel like we spent so much time on fighting scenes that we didn’t actually explain this world and that’s a problem because I needed to live in it for a time.
I also don’t really see how the first part of the book related to the second part of the book. Maybe it all came together at the end, but I just couldn’t get that far. If the author decided to get some serious editing and rework this and publish it again, I would give it another shot for sure.
Unearthed by Marc Mulero is the first book in hopefully not just 3 books but a saga! This book gives you The Hunger Games plus The 100 plus The Maze Runner feels. It shows the world after an apocalyptic event called The Global Quake.
I will be honest, this book took some time to catch my attention as the introduction is rather unconventional The book starts right in the middle of a conflict and it takes some time to get used to what is happening and understanding the characters. But I must say at the climax I was craving for more!! The first half was a bit disjointed and it felt a little messy but the second half developed beautifully!!
I would like to see how this series develops and I look forward to the next part!

If you are looking to fulfil your Hunger Games or The 100 craving, be sure to try this one. Trust me by the end of it you will know what I am talking about!
This book was ok. it has plenty of action and intrigue I just had trouble connecting to the characters. The characters are poorly introduced and underdeveloped. That to some degree is expected in a first novel but this was a bit more than that it almost felt like the book was a draft instead of the final novel and parts were still unfinished. The overall plot is Decent and it has a good sci-fi vibe. It defiantly has potential. I do love the cover art.
I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
The author definitely can write action scenes, but that was about the only thing I liked about this book. The story felt very videogame-ish, without any depth. Gruesome scenes were used solely as plot device.
It is obvious the book was written by a man, because the only "strong" female character was of course the melee assassin in a world of machine and sniper guns. Who is so badass she does apparently not need to clean her knives. It felt very forced. The rest seemed to be women in need and muscular male fighters. Weapons were also very important, in the first few pages you can only read 3 times about the Desert Eagle of the leader.
One might think this book was written because someone wanted the story as an action movie. It certainly felt that way to me.
I liked the setting and the plot of this book very much. It was a good story that was from the beginning interesting and traceable. The characters are good described and the writing style is pleasant to read.
I really enjoyed this. Blague was an interesting character and I liked seeing this post-apocalyptic world through his eyes. A very fascinating read and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

Post - apocalyptic tale of an Earth gone bad. Mulero paints a dismal realistic picture of what could happen.
This is an interesting story of Earth in a post apocalyptic environment....the tragedy of what can happen to civil order and the economy.
This story follows Blague, who is on the lowest rung of the newly established hierarchy, as he leads a rebellion in order to overthrow those at the top, the Heizers. The journey of the rebels leads to some interesting discoveries as well as who Blague ends up finding out is their ringleader, whom he must fight if they are to be successful.
It was a very creative storyline, it kept me on my toes and left me wanting more. I want to say this is the first of a series, but I might be wrong. I hope I'm not!!
