While stars gaze down by Lewis Cox

Set in Paris in the sixties. A story of love, romance, past betrayal and how things may not always be as they seem.

A well written book.

It’s pace is very like it has been written in this time and flow is just right for that time line. Alongside Beautifully described scenery you could be there.

Ah romance in the city of love! I am very much into European local romances currently, especially WW2 era. This romance comes about 15 years later, but it was still a great read. Paris and Parisian society, love, betrayal and romance. This is definitely a book to get lost in for a period of time! The writing was perfect as was the flow. All in all a definite recommend from this reader!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by NetGalley.

WHILE STARS GAZE DOWN by LEWIS COX is a romance novel which takes place in Paris and the beautiful French countryside. The characters are delightful and the book has an "old world" charm. It is an enjoyable read and one I recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre.

The story of Diane who shares a flat with Charlotte.
Diane works as a courier.
When she turns up for her first meeting with people whom she’’ll be working with, shes meets John but takes a dislike to him as he in some way reminds her of her past.
But the couple(his aunt and uncle) are really nice and also begin to like her.
Charlotte, thinks that Diane works to hard and doesn’t like the fact that she can afford to stay out in nice company and buy nice things.
Diane, decides she doesn’t want to work as a courier with this family and goes to see her boss, who informs her that she cannot pull out now and must continue.
John reminds Diane of Neil, the man who left her and to date she’s not been able to forget that chapter in her life.
Slowly Neil begins to understand that something must have happened in her past for Diane to behave as she does.
Charlotte informs Diane that she’s moving in with her boyfriend and will be moving out soon.
When Diane, John, Charlotte and Lucien go out for the day on a boat, when Diane goes for a walk on the river bank, Charlotte tells John what happened with Diane and the guy named Neil. She’s also not happy/jealous that Diane has everything she needs.
When Sophia informs Diane that the person her friend Carole is marrying is Neil York Diane is shocked and leaves the hotel room. When John finds out that his aunt told Diane the mans name and that he’s the same person whom Diane was in love with, he goes to find her.
On a visit to a chateau, Diane comes face to face with Neil and Carole. Carole finds out that they know each other. Although then she realises that he never loved her and it was one sided.
An enjoyable read,
