Finding Peace in Difficult Times is a quick guide to grounding and meditation. The book is broken down into different types and/or times for a break. As a Psychologist who primarily works with individuals with complex trauma, I see a huge benefit in having so many great and usable strategies in one place. I would certainly recommend this book to patients. I should also share that, while I was familiar with almost all strategies in this book, I did find myself learning a new technique or two. Thank you, Divya Kohli, for a lovely and usable text.
This was an interesting book. I thought the information presented was well laid out and flowed well. I really enjoyed reading it and want to try and start implementing some of what I read.
This is a short book with short chapters containing simple techniques and approaches. I don't think readers will find any a-ha moments here, particularly since there's nothing new presented. But there are some good ideas/reminders that could be helpful to some.
I did not care for this book. I would almost say it is a bad translation, as if the Author did not have a good grasp of the English language. Honestly, at times, I thought an eight year old could have written it. There were no revelations here- just basic stuff-breathe-tension tamers(?)-meditation-yoga. The description of the book sounds wonderful!
Ms Divya Kohli, I am sure you are an excellent yoga instructor but, that doesn't make you a good writer.
Wow, they got this book out fast. It focuses specifically on the added stress, fears and uncertainty during the COVID-19 crisis and is due to be published June 9. The author is a yogi and she gives tips on how to use mindfulness, breathing exercises and more to control anxiety and feel more peaceful. There are quite a lot of different exercises to try and some stories of clients who were helped with the techniques during her years of practice.
The book is likely to be helpful not just with the stress of this time but also in recovering from illness, as meditation and healthy breathing have been proven to help so much with inflammation, lung function, immune response and more (remember, during intense stress our "fight or flight" response kicks in and our heart rate and blood pressure go up, our immune response dramatically slows, and our body responds pretty much exactly the opposite of what it needs to do to get through a serious illness). This will be helpful for people looking for tools to calm their anxiety and feel more centered during this stressful time, and support their bodies and minds in recovering from illness.
I read a digital ARC of this book for review.
WOW! What a great and powerful book. I have been meditating for about 6 months, but sometimes I lose focus or just want to do my own breathing exercises.
This book is so timely with the COVID 19 pandemic raging and I am feeling more and more anxious.
The author goes into detail on how to do some deep breathing, some imaginary images, and focus on just being present.
I loved the book and will take away some of the more important things that I think will work for me.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is getting a little anxious or just needs to focus more.
