“The Divorce Attorney” is only my second book from the author. The blurb sounded interesting and that’s why I picked it up! It’s not like something I normally read, but it’s good to get out of my comfort zone once in a while! This is a romantic comedy with age-gap trope.

Sloane never thought that she’ll be getting a divorce so early on life. Marrying on a whim with a man she didn’t really know was after all a bad decision, since her soon-to-be ex-husband cheated on her. What she couldn’t anticipated either was the hot older divorce attorney representing her. The attraction is instant, from the time she sets eyes on him. The feelings are mutual, and that’s how he ends up propositioning her after her divorce is finalized!

The story was good! I found myself laughing many times. However, I had some issues with the characters and that’s why I didn’t give the book a higher rating. Sloane was talking with herself too much for my liking and I didn’t really like Carter’s attitude at times. All in all, it’s a story I enjoyed, that made me laugh and it was a nice change from my usual reading!!!

There is potential. There is a desire to give depth to the characters, to make them have secret wounds. However, these are declared. We don't feel them. We stay on the surface. It's frustrating!

Melanie Munton , on the other hand, succeeds in describing the attraction that arises between the heroes. She succeeds perfectly in describing the irresistible magnetism which binds them and there, we are taken. It’s a pleasure to read.

My review is very mixed. The divorce attorney is a nice romance. The fact remains that I am missing something to be truly satisfied.

Freaking hilarious!!! OMG!! What could be funnier than going to your divorce wearing a wenches outfit?? Well your ex did show up with a date. Sloane Westbrook did exactly that. And the chemistry between her and her lawyer was immediate. Cater Van Gordon doesn't waste anytime going after the prize of one Sloane Westbrook. When Sloane finally decides to fo out with Carter, it becomes hot hot hot. When an old case comes up, that had changed Carters life forever and Sloans dad is at the very center of it; Carter steps back. Now Sloane has to decide if Carter is worth fighting loving.

So, this was my first read from this author, I must say I was pleasantly surprise of how much I enjoyed this book.

I have a thing for lawyers, now throw in some suspenders and a bow tie, I’m in and Carter did not disappoint, although I was bummed out that we didn’t get his point of view in the story, I still enjoyed it.

Sloane married young and now after a couple of years she sees her self in a place no one wants to, in divorce court, by a change of events her lawyer goes on maternity leave early and now she has a new person representing her. But what a surprise to see the sexy hot Carter Van Gordon, her new lawyer. Their first encounter was fun and sparks where flying. Once a free woman, Carter tells Sloane he will giver her what she needs.... Hello, sexy confident man!!

Sloane being newly divorce isn’t on the fence, not wanting to start anything and live life, but Carter is determined and Sloane way of regaining back her confidence in her self and love is a nice thing to see. A fun turn of events, and the twist will have you turning pages.
The banter had me laughing hard, and the sexy times were steamy. I truly enjoyed this read. It was fast paced and I couldn’t put it down until I was done!
I enjoyed all the characters, and can’t wait to see more of Sloane’s friends.

The Divorce Attorney by Melanie Munton is the story of Sloane Williams and Carter Van Gordon.
Sloane is a young 23 year old women who is working her way to become a Professor but she still has school and works two jobs to get to her goal. But, sadly Sloane made a bad judgement call by marrying when she was younger and now that part of her life is ending. When she walks into her attorney's office to finalize the divorce she is directed to a different divorce attorney because her lawyer has gone into labor. Sloane looks up to find a sexy older man (15 years age gap) who is wearing suspenders, a bow tie and glasses. Sloane has just come from one of her jobs and is dressed like a Wench so she is already feeling funny about the meeting but he takes her breath away. At the end of the divorce meeting Carter asked her to call him so they can go out. Of course she has self-esteem issues after being with her no good cheating husband besides she just to busy. Carter comes looking for her when she doesn't call and of course her friends are pushing her to go out with him. Carter has some of his own baggage that comes back to the forefront but he knows what he wants and its Sloane. This was such a great read. Loved it! I hope to be reading more from this author, especially about Sloane's friends, Gretchen, Harper, and Quinn.

(🌟🌟🌟 out of 5 stars)

Sloane is a 23 year-old woman who is getting divorced. As to why, read the book. Her lawyer was changed to the guy named Carter Van Gordon which she did not know about til she had to meet her lawyer in their office.

Carter is a fierce lawyer who has quite the manly appeal. I must say, i understand why she was attracted to the man. Lol anyway, Carter is 38. After Sloane’s divorce process, Carter offered her himself if she wanted to be treated by a man. That’s where the story begins.

I have no complaints about the story because suspenders and bow ties? Real cute and attractive, to be honest. However, i did find the writing quite different and i thought there would be more feels and factor to it. For some reason, i did not connect to this book though i really wanted to—it’s why i requested for it in the first place. It just didn’t work that much for me.

Would still recommend if you’re looking for something sexy to read! Happy reading!

Sloane gets married young and is divorced within a few years. Sad, but then her stand-in divorce lawyer asks her out. Carter is older but knows what he wants. This was a unique read, a storyline not heard of. It was a sexy read and well written. I can't wait to read more by this author!

I received a free copy of the Divorce Attorney in exchange for an honest review. This was definitely a fast paced novel. Sloane and Carter had quite the chemistry going on right from the beginning. The unexpected plot twist was awesome. Usually, as a reader, these twists are rarely a surprise, but this one blind sided me. Great job, Melanie Munton. Overall, this was a quick and easy read. I'd recommend to friends and family.

I couldn't put this book down! This was the perfect college romance book; it gives heartbreak and romance, with a little heady love and humor too. The wrench (twist) that is thrown in is a total shock and gives the book some extra craziness that I wasn't expecting.
"What are you supposed to do when your insanely hot divorce attorney leans over after you’ve signed your divorce papers and seductively whispers in your ear, “Give me a call if you want to know how it feels to be handled by a real man since you were clearly too much woman for him,” before sliding his business card over and walking out the door?
I mean, what do you do with that?
Sure, I’m tempted. I just lost a hundred and eighty pounds of stupid, cheating man. I deserve to treat myself.
The thing is, I think he might be too much man for me.
After all, he’s fifteen years my senior, though he doesn’t look it.
But the urge to learn what this seasoned pro could teach me proves irresistible.
And as it turns out, he’s a pro at a lot of things…like destroying people’s lives."

I’m not usually a fan of age gaps but The Divorce Attorney was fun and fast paced. A nice book to read.

4 "Red Bow Tie" Stars!

The Divorce Attorney was a real treat! Sloane and Carter's "meet cute" is definitely not a normal one. Sloan is getting divorced and Carter ends up taking over her case at the last minute for another attorney. Their attraction is instant, but Sloan isn't interested in jumping into another relationship since she is getting out of a very bad marriage. Carter decides Sloan is worth pursuing and does just that. Eventually, she agrees to a date. From there, their relationship experiences a bit of a roller coaster ....

The Divorce Attorney has a little bit of everything I enjoy in a book. First, it's an age gap romance (Carter is roughly 15 years older than Sloan), Second, I love seeing a woman who was taken advantage of by an absolute jerk in the past find love with the "perfect man." In addition, the secondary characters were easy to like and helped to make the storyline even more engaging. I look forward to reading about their stories in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m giving this one 3 stars.
It seemed very interesting based on the blurb... and the beginning was okay. This one just didn’t hold my attention and I gave up. I did skip to the end to see how it ended, but sadly, blah.

I was very excited about this book and really liked the blurb so I was very disappointed when the Sloane and Carter ended up falling flat from the very first chapter. The writing style was not my favorite either so the banter felt forced and at times juvenile. I really wanted to like this book but even the smut was predictably boring and couldn't save the story. I see some other readers really liked the story so try it and see if you feel differently but I wouldn't recommend this book.

I received a free ARC from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts are my own.

This is a quick read with a lot of passion. She's in her 20's he's in his late 30's. He's her divorce lawyer and and is interested in her. There's a lot of passionate scenes with some graphic overtones. The book got a little predictable felt a though every other scene was sex. I DNF.

Hot, hot and hot! This gem from Melanie Munton has the power to melt your kindle! Grab a fan, a glass of sweet tea and crank up the fan to high and settle in for this story. Could not put it down.
Sloane arrives at her attorney's office to finalize her divorce dressed in her work clothes making her look like a wench only to find her attorney has gone into labor early and she gets passed off to another attorney. She's distressed to say the least, she wants this over and done and when she meets her new attorney well.... this is where we get our first peek at Carter Van Gordon. Complete with bow tie, rolled up shirt sleeves and in the name of all things holy, suspenders! He's the quintessential southern gentleman, charming, polite and scrappy! Carter assures Sloane he can handle her case after the two spend a few minutes getting acquainted, she explains the outfit and he does a bang up job putting her ex and his attorney is their respective places.

Carter shows up at Sloane's job and begins his subtle/not so subtle pursuit of Sloane. Sloane has a few misgivings about Carter, one being the difference in their ages, her own feelings of not trusting her own judgment and her desire to finish school, some issues from her own past. Her brief marriage totally derailed anything good for her. But Carter is good for Sloane in many ways including that dirty mouth of his and wow did I ever want my chance to snap that man's suspenders!

The story has great depth, the characters are well developed and a great plot and subplot. Melanie did something some authors fail to do is tell a great story while being so stinking hot your panties melt.
This is a must read, great characters, twists and turns, set in one of my favorite places, all it was missing was a low country boil. Actually it did have that, not just the food variety... It is enough to say I loved Carter and his dirty mouth and Sloane!
A total 5 shooting star read for me.
Thank you Melanie!

Shew!!!!! This book is hot, hot, hot!!!!! This book put a smile on my face and wished I had hired him for my divorce! The author did a fantastic job painting a picture of Charleston SC - I really want to visit the garden at the plantation. I was excited to see an additional book is coming out about one of the roommates. Cannot wait to read that!!!

I'm not sure what compelled me to request this book. Late night NetGalley surfing I guess, but yikes. I was cringing within the first few sentences. These characters had zero chemistry. I didn't even like them. Clearly, I missed something because the reviews on NetGalley are pretty positive. I've just learned to quit while I'm ahead. This was a DNF very early on.

Sloane Williams is 23 and already has a failed marriage under her belt. When she walks in to an appointment with her divorce attorney, she is directed to a different lawyer. Apparently, her lawyer went out on maternity leave and can't finish her divorce. The lawyer who will finish her divorce is hotter than sin and 15 years older. When the divorce is finalized, Carter Van Gordon asks her out.
Battling with the idea of jumping right back into dating, Sloane eventually goes out with Carter. As she continues to date him, she falls hopelessly in love with him. A problem arises, though, when Carter meets her dad. Apparently, dad and Carter already know each other and dad does not like Carter one bit.
Opinion
This book grabs you from the beginning and has you hold on until the end. This book is a really quick read because its so captivating. Sloane and Carter go through some pretty funny situations and each have some personal growth on things they've been stuck on.
The story itself is extra cute and heart warming. Carter is just the man that Sloane needs after the way her idiot of an ex-husband treated her. Sloane being stuck on not dating/marrying for money adds to the spice since Carter inherited a great deal of money and is a successful lawyer.
It appears that there are more books in this series coming out. I will be on the lookout for them to read.

This was a good story and fun plot! I appreciate that they broached a subject of age not being relevant in a relationship, because it doesn't, but maturity does and Sloan was definitely experiencing more life than most at her age. Carter definitely challenged her and offered her a lot of new experiences that she didn't get to have with her ex-husband, and I think it helped her grow even more (in her comfort of life after divorce).

I did find this book hard to read at times, and found myself stopping, because of the formatting. I'm not sure if I got an earlier copy or what happened; but, I had a lot of paragraph breaks that didn't make sense, along with random numbers appearing in between paragraphs.

This is my first experience reading this author’s work and I have to say it was a pleasant surprise. I liked her writing style and the only thing that would have made it more enjoyable for me would have been getting Carter’s POV as well. This is the first book in the Southern Hearts Club (or as Gretchen likes to call them the Folly Foursome!) series and I am looking forward to reading Harper‘s book next. This was Sloane and Carter’s story and it was full of steamy banter, witty humor & a bit of a twist. I loved these characters from the first chapter! Throw in the secondary characters and this made for a well-rounded, very enjoyable rom-com. I will definitely be reading more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
