This just was not for me. Ruby was so and so, very immature and the wierd thing that every guy seemed interested in her. Ezra was just there, but not very interesting.
Between wild & ruin follows our main characters : Ruby, who is new to the town and discovers the ancient ruins that holds a lot of secrets, and Ezra, who may have some secrets of his own. It's a loose Beauty and the beast retelling themed with some really good banter, writing and characters.

First, I really liked the setting of the story. The lush mountains, the ancient ruins, the history of the people who lived there, everything was fascinating to read about and Ruby was the perfect character to ask questions. She was curious, strong and never took anything at face value. Ezra was a recluse with the grumpy exterior and a teddy bear heart and you can't help but fall in love with him. Second, the chemistry between them both was developed well and I liked their interactions a lot. I really liked the side characters as well. Angel and Ruby's aunt played a very important role in the story and I liked how they influenced her decisions in a good way.

Coming to story and character development, I think I loved Ezra more than I loved Ruby. I don't know why, but reading about a reformed grump always makes me happy. There was so much more to the story than just them finding each other and that history made this reading experience better. I'm a sucker for a story with ancient lores, so this was perfect. This book get's an extra 0.5 stars because of my enjoyment factor. I had such a good time reading it and I can't wait for the next book! So that I can fall in love with Ezra all over again!!

i really enjoyed reading this book, it was a fun first part in a series, the characters were great and it set up the premise perfectly.
Ruby is the new girl in a small town in New Mexico. Wanting to forget the last year of her life, she just wants to blend in and get through her senior year.
This was a pretty good book. The initial premise lightly reminded me of Twilight, but only on the surface. While I’m a bit old for teenage angst, it didn’t deter from how well this story was written. I thought the author did a great job bringing the landscape and characters to life. I recommend.

Unfortunately this wasn’t one for me, I wasn’t keen on the insta-love, especially the fact a few young men suddenly are attracted the moment Ruby arrives in town. I enjoyed the descriptions of New Mexico and although I’ve never been it felt really clear in my head with the authors descriptions. Ruby herself although a teenager seems really immature and just not very likeable to me. So unfortunately this just wasn’t my cup of tea.
