Love this holiday book! If you liked the movie Groundhog Day, you will really enjoy this read.
This book had so many emotional twists and turns and untimely, just made me happy. I enjoy a good holiday book and can see myself rereading this one every year, to get me into the spirit of the season. Highly recommended read!
I enjoyed the characters and the storyline - the first two times I read it. I'm not a huge fan of the Groundhog Day theme, and was glad when it stopped..
Mae and her family (including divorced parents) spend every Christmas at a cabin with family friends. Mae is looking to the universe to show her what makes her happy - and it does. Over and over again.
Mae is a funny, sarcastic person (which I can relate to) and she's made some mistakes. She has the opportunity to correct her errors and even find love in the process.
It's a sweet book, good for the holiday season, but wasn't one of my favorites.
Mae and her family always celebrate Christmas with friends at a cabin in Utah. Mae has made some mistakes and she is hoping this year at the cabin will open up her eyes to what makes her happy. Little does she know the universe has a plan!
Mae is a young lady with plenty of flaws. I enjoy that in a character if the author can pull it off. Christina Lauren does an excellent job with Mae. Mae makes bad decisions. Heck, she makes terrible decisions. But, her sarcastic wit and her loving nature makes it all workout.
This is not my favorite book from these authors. It was a little monotonous is spots. But, it is still a laugh out loud novel. This author team always has some huge comical relationships and their characters crack me up.
Need a good, comic relief book for the holidays. This is it! Grab your copy today.

In a Holidaze will wrap you up in a warm blanket of Christmas happiness and love. I am usually not a huge fan of holiday books; however, In a Holidaze has changed my mind. Christina and Lauren have written a lovely story with fabulous characters that you will enjoy getting to known. This book has a Groundhog Day vibe, but I was thankful that it was short-lived and not throughout the whole book.
One amazing cozy cabin in Utah, a group of friends, cemented by the college experience, and their grownup children have been meeting on December 20th to spend Christmas together. You can feel the love between all these people, but this Christmas looks like it will be a bit different.
Mae, Theo, and Andrew have grown up together and are best friends. However, Mae has been in love with Andrew, or is it, Theo, since she was thirteen years old. Oh, did you think I was going to tell you who she loves and ruin all the fun? And of course, to make things interesting, Theo and Andrew are brothers.
Mae makes a silent plea to the universe: Universe.
“What am I doing with my life? Please. I want…”
“So Mae askes the universe, simply:
‘Can you show me what will make me happy?’”
Mae makes a terrible mistake, but not too worry she gets the opportunity to rectify the error twice. As Mae lives this week over two times, a remarkable change takes place. She sees what is essential in life and learns the importance of taking a chance and going after what makes her happy.
So, between boardgames and snowball fights, I was happy that the central theme of this story was Mae finding herself and finding love and not the whole groundhog theme, which, in my opinion, has been overdone. The story was cute and fun, but the characters made this book and warmed my heart. In a Holidaze turned out to have all the warm feels we have all come to expect from these two wonderful authors. If you are looking for a heartfelt, sweet, emotional read with a touch of humor, to get you into the Christmas spirit a little early, look no further; you have found your next read, In a Holidaze.

I absolutely love these authors - I've just loved so many of the books they've written in the last few years. And this one was no exception, it was so enjoyable! A mix of the movie Groundhog Day and the Christmas holiday, this book has so much to enjoy. An extremely zany cast of characters really brings this book to life and gives the reader lots of feelings about family traditions and spending holidays with loved ones. There was a lot of emotion evident in the text, which is characteristic of a CL novel, but the characters felt a little immature to me for the ages they actually were (26 and 30). There were so many things I liked about the book but there were some pieces of the plot that just didn't work for me. The whole "fight" at the end of the book felt a little melodramatic to me. And the "grand romantic gestures" didn't necessarily seem that grand. But it was still a great read and one that I really enjoyed. The authors really brought to life the heady feeling of new love / new relationships. This was a great read and I would recommend it! Perfect holiday read - and I really hope they make it into a Christmas movie!
I stayed up way past my bedtime reading this book. Friends to lovers tropes are my jam. Make that life long family friends. JUST YES. Add the component of Christmas and you have a winner.
This novel follows the Groundhogs Day theme as Maelyn is stuck repeating the same week long holiday celebration with her lifelong family friends at their beloved cabin in Utah. Maelyn decides to use this opportunity from the universe to speak her mind and try being bold... what does she have to lose? Finally she’s speaking her mind and sharing her feelings with her life long crush. But just when she starts getting what she’s always wanted... she wonders when the loop will begin again and she’ll have to wake up and start all over.
This was CUUUTE. And, helloooooo....Christmas! Loved the romance and the really fun holiday traditions. I want to spend my Christmases at this cabin with this cast of characters.
Is it as good as Unhoneymooners? No, sorry. Still no. But, I really enjoyed.

I really enjoyed this book. It was cute and I loved that this was my first holiday read of the year. I wasn’t surprised that I really enjoyed this one as I adored Christina Lauren. I enjoyed all the side characters so much and loved that they were all a big part of the story!
Swoon-worthy holiday cheer, Christina Lauren is here! I loved this book! I was charmed by all of the characters in this book, and that doesn't happen often. I loved the premise--a Christmastime Groundhog Day. And the end was the icing on the figgy pudding. Right now, its not even Halloween and I will probably read this again right before Christmas. I hope this goes to the big screen at some point because that's how much I enjoyed Mae and Andrew.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Gallery Books, and the writing team Christina Lauren for gifting me a digital ARC of their latest book - as always, such a warmhearted, feel good romance book - 4.5 stars! I was in a bit of a holidaze myself - it's Halloween and I'm reading about a Christmastime Groundhog Day!
Mae spends every Christmas with her family and her chosen family in Park City, Utah, at a cabin owned by her parents' best friends. Even though her parents are divorced, they both still come for the holiday. Every day has a tradition and traditions cannot be broken. But everything feels broken this year for Mae - she's at a job she hates, back living at home with her mom, and her childhood crush for Andrew, the son of the cabin's owners, is stronger than ever and seems destined to remain only a fantasy. Worst of all - as the week comes to a close, the owners tell of their plans to sell the cabin. Leaving in the car with her family, Mae sends up a wish to be shown what will make her happy. Then there's a car crash and the Groundhog's Day loop begins. Will Mae be able to fix things?
I loved these characters, their family traditions, the setting and the romance! Christina Lauren delivers another winning read no matter what the season!
❝It never occurred to me that you might be mine.❞
If you had the chance to travel back in time and change the outcome of your future, would you?
In this hilarious story filled with heartwarming and swoon-worthy moments, Christina Lauren throw Maelyn Jones into a continuous time loop, where her words and actions determine not only her future but the future of those around her.
This was such a fun story. From the amazing characters to the situations Maelyn puts herself and her family through, I was either gasping for air from laughing or gasping with dread.
I'm not typically a fan of holiday reads, because they tend to be too 'sweet' and 'hallmark-y' for me. Which is why I loved this story so much; it went against that formula, yet still delivered on the importance of love and family.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC of In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren. I really enjoyed this story, and it truly might become a yearly Christmas read for me! Enjoy!
I kind of want to cry right now. I’m so sad that I finished this book. Y’all 2020 has been a year and even books haven’t been a great escape for me for the past 8 months but finally, finally I got those butterflies in my stomach from a story again. It’s been so long!!
This story gave me major “Love at the Christmas Table” vibes (Lifetime Christmas movie. Look it up!!) and since that’s one of my favorite holiday TV movies, I am all in on this book!
If you’ll excuse me, I think I’m gonna go reread it real quick.
I apologize, I am unable to provide feedback on this book because, despite repeated attempts to work with Netgalley to fix it, they are unable to successfully send a book to my kindle.
Mae Jones always spends Christmas with her (divorced) parents with their family friends in a cabin in Utah. Her best friend is Theo while she secretly pines for his brother Andrew, who sees her as a little sister.
After a drunken kiss with one of the brothers, Mae’s life is thrown into a tailspin – and a Groundhog Day scenario where she keeps reliving the trip until she can figure out exactly what the universe is trying to get her to do to make things right.
This was pretty hilarious. Each restart produces a different set of problems for Mae but she does her best to heal her friendship with Theo, get the man of her dreams and save the cabin and figure out what to do with her life.
The whole cast was great, the setting was fun and Chistmasy with a touch of magic.
My one teeny-tiny complaint would be that I didn’t think one character was given enough depth and it weakened the story a bit but otherwise it was absolutely delightful and fun!
I always give stories that can make me both laugh out loud and cry 5 stars and this one was just that. I loved it. There were several parts that were down right hilarious and parts that were so heartful and moving that I couldn't help but cry. This book would make a fantastic hallmark movie! The first part of the book is a bit awkward and felt a tiny bit forced but the story quickly delves into a lovely heartful holiday story that you can't help but love. Add this one to your holiday reading list, you won't be dissapointed!
*Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the free copy for my honest review.*
Maelyn Jones has just spent what will be the last Christmas with her family and friends at the cabin in Utah where they have been spending Christmases for years. But Rick and Lisa have dropped a bombshell that they are selling the cabin and everything is up in the air. As her family is driving away, Mae is questioning everything about her life and future. She asks the universe to show her what will make her happy and then they are broadsided by a truck and Mae wakes up on the plane heading to Utah to start the Christmas vacation.
With Benny, a family friend who knows all of her secrets, as her only ally during the resets, will Mae be able to set her life on the right course to find happiness?
I found this book to be a very charming take on Groundhog Day with resets when Mae seems to be off track with seeing her happiness. The interactions between the characters came off as very authentic and the banter was sweet and witty. I loved reading about the schedule they have with different activities each day. And it was nice seeing Mae's realization to be more of a grown up throughout the experience.
The only thing that I would have liked to see more of is resets. Because that is where a lot of the humor comes in, right? When she can't remember which time line things happened in and confuses those around her with acting strange from all of the resets.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book, the characters and the writing.
Thanks to a wish, Maelyn is stuck in a time loop and needs to figure out how to act to try to get out of this mess.
At first, the story begins with one tragedy after another, with each return in time something changes inside Mae and her perception and attitudes change together.
I cheered a lot for Andrew and Mae, they are very cute together, so I was a little disappointed with the point of conflict. I confess that I preferred a story with linear time and that the main focus was on the couple building the relationship of childhood friends where the guy suddenly realizes that she was always the girl for him. I expected Andrew to be a gentleman in shining armor for Mae. He even redeems himself at the very end but I found his previous attitude quite selfish and childish.
The story has a good potential to become a fun and light Christmas movie.
This is truly a "deja vu" all over again. Mae has just spent the last Christmas at her favorite place, a cabin in Utah with her parents and two other families who have been spending the holiday together since she was a child. She is on her way home to California when there is a crash, and all goes black. When Mae regains consciousness she is once more at the cabin beginning her Christmas holiday. A most enjoyable story with great characters.
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren was a fun and charming holiday story with a laugh out loud twist. Though for many, it may be the happiest time of the year, for Mae Jones, it’s anything but. When she wishes to find what happiness would mean for her, she never imagined that would mean relieving her holiday trip until she got it right. What follows is a story that will leave you smiling. Full of fun characters and a delightful story, this is a must-read this holiday season.
Happy reading.
The Review
The Title/Cover Draw:
Christmas AND Christina Lauren? Sign me up.
What I liked:
It was semi-unpredictable which was such a good surprise. Also there was a strong community of people, which is always a good thing for me.
What I didn’t like:
I expected more time jumping.
What kept me reading:
How would this whole thing be resolved? And the characters. See below.
The Characters:
All the characters were fun and distinct. Even though they didn’t dive totally deep into their backstory, you still knew (and loved) all of them.
The Ending:
Done pretty creatively.
Reminds me of:
Groundhog Day meets 12 Dates of Christmas
