Most of us have had times when we’d like to have a do-over—when hindsight taught us a very valuable lesson about a mistake that couldn’t be undone. And in Christina Lauren’s holiday rom-com, In a Holidaze, one woman gets a chance to redo her Christmas getaway until she gets it right...

We read this book for one of my book clubs back in December 2020 and it was the perfect pick-me-up after a wild year! Whether it's a book (IN A HOLIDAZE), TV show ("Russian Doll") or movie ("Palm Springs"), I'm always interested in seeing how writers reinvent the "Groundhog's Day" styled-story, aka where a character relives the same day over and over again.
Overall, I think Christina Lauren did a great job with this one! The time loop worked well (though I feel like I was expecting Mae to relive the loop way more often) and I was thoroughly entertained start-to-finish. What I enjoyed most was the charming cast of characters. I love stories about families - found families, blended families, etc. - and this book is a great example of a unique family dynamic.
I'd definitely recommend this one for a light, holiday read!

I loved In a Holidaze! Any movie or novel which includes the Groundhog’s Day time loop repetition theme, I reach for it! No surprise Christina Lauren doesn’t disappoint! With the gorgeous backdrop of scenery I am familiar with, the happy chaos of a loving family, her main characters jump off the pages and add joy as well as believing in love to your own holiday season! A festive and fun read!

Fun holiday themed read! LOVED THE SETTING. Snowy Utah cabin with close family friends just sounds amazing. Unless you had one too many eggnogs, made out with the wrong brother, the other still has no idea how you feel, your job sucks, and turns out the family is selling the house you've celebrated christmas at your whole life. Its a lot, lol. Ground hog day meets rom com in In A Holidaze. And oh what fun it was to read. She literally dies horribly every day, only to wake up at the start with the chance to make it all right. Why universe, why?!!
Now, I am not one for love triangles, so I'm not mad that this book didnt go that direstion, but it totally also could have and I wouldn't have been mad at all. Honestly, the beginning of the relationship between Maelyn and the brother shes had a crush on forever felt off. I eventually liked it, but even tho she never gives the other brother a chance, i rooted for him more. idk, what that says about me. I didn't like how absorbed Mae was in herself and into trying to make a relationship a thing (and a working thing). It left her disconnected to the others at the cabin i felt.
I didn't dislike the book, it was really fun and enjoyable but I finished it feeling like they could have done so much more ya know?
I'd say, just pick it up if you think it sounds good.
I LOVE a good holiday book! Add in stranded in the snow + Christina Lauren magic and IN A HOLIDAZE appears! I had so many truly laugh out loud moments and the swoony parts, the combination of which are signature CLo. It brought me out of my book funk and I’m so grateful! Cannot recommend this enough!
I tried really hard to get into In a Holidaze and I just couldn't. I didn't realise it was a Groundhog Day-ish type of story either, which is probably why I couldn't get into it. Sadly, I marked it as a DNF.
I found this to be a fun holiday read. I enjoyed the time loop that Mae found herself stuck in until she found what truly made her happy. I was looking for a rom-com chick lit book and this fit the bill perfectly. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This is a Christmas Romance with a little time travel (I guess). I am so happy that I got approved from a Netgalley e-book of this book, and I cannot wait to read it. I love Christina Lauren's book, so I requested this book without even seeing what is was about. I normally do not like book with time travel, but this book was so great. This is one of my favorite Christmas books. The main character is Maelyn. Her family and her mother's best friend's family was staying in a cabin for Christmas like they always do. Everything was going wrong and Mae makes a wish that ends up making her keep repeat the start of the trip until she gets it right. I found this book very cute and funny at parts and enough drama to keep me wanting to read it. Great book. I love a great Christmas story. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Not quite as good as I'd hope, although still a fun read. I liked the concept, although the characters were too predictable.
This is a quick review just to say, Absolutely adorable! I enjoyed this story so much and it is perfect for Christmas time. I love Christina Lauren and I am excited to see what they have in store for us next!
This was really cute. Predictable, but still really cute and got me feeling all mushy like CL is known for. Got this for my mother in law too, and she loved it!
This is definitely my favorite holiday book that I've read in a really long time-- and honestly my favorite romance I've read in a long time! I loved the writing right from the start-- I could fully picture the setting, thought Mae was a great main character, and I was equally obsessed with Andrew. There's a time travel element where she relives the same day over and over again which reminded me of the movie 12 Dates of Christmas. I will say I kind of expected it to be a bigger part of the plot, but I didn't even care because I liked it so much. Overall, I enjoyed it from start to finish and wouldn't mind reading it again next year.
Great holiday romance reminds me of the holiday Hallmark movies. Swoon worthy guy as usual and gets you in the holiday spirit.
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
Maelyn Jones isn’t having a Merry Christmas. She has just realized the guy she THOUGHT she had to have is not the fairy tale she wanted. She has probably just blown her chance with his brother due to a disastrous romantic encounter. She is still living with her parents, stuck in a job she hates and has just found out that her favorite getaway is being sold. She has spent every holiday she can remember with her family and their friends here. So, she makes a wish that she can discover what exactly will make her happy. Shortly after the plea, she has a car wreck. She wakes up and finds she is back on the airplane that will take her to Utah and start this whole Christmas over again. Will she ever figure out which path makes her happy?
Think “Christmas Vacation” meets “Groundhog Day”. This was absolutely hysterical. I found myself literally laughing out loud multiple times. I love a good cheezy Christmas novel, but this has to be one of my favorites. I still find it hard to believe that this author is a duo. The writing style is superb. Nothing but a five star review from me. I liked this one so much, I even bought a physical copy of it.
Thanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren was a fun modern Christmas tale. It was the perfect blend of enjoyable for Hallmark folks while also not relying too much on tropes that might drive some folks away from those types of stories. More holiday books from this team are most welcome!
In a Holidaze recreates many memories for me. The holidays are the best time of the year. Add romance and you have a recipe for an excellent romance novel!
This book was awesome!!! I could not put it down! Christina Lauren is an amazing author. Her books never disappoint! Can not wait for the next one!
When Groundhog Day meets Christmas traditions, Maelyn Jones, a flawed heroine searches for answers from the universe--and the universe answers.
Get ready to laugh out loud and get a little teary as Maelyn gets to relive every holiday tradition, song, family joke, and treat over and over again until she can figure out what exactly the universe is trying to teach her about finding joy and that happily ever after.

This one was a slow burn for me and that surprise me in the manner of which I wasn’t expecting. I love holiday books are read them all around the year and this one was no different.
This story was interesting and wasn't exactly my cup of tea. The uniqueness of the plot of having to repeat the same day over and over again was refreshing from the typical romances out there, but it didn't quite work for me. I would still recommend the book though because I'm sure others will enjoy it more than I did.
