This is a story about figuring out how to be happy again.... and again... and again.
I’m picky about both romance & comedy, but this was a delightful read. Definitely perfect for the holidays, or just a general light hearted fun story.
I grabbed this one as a special Read Now offer because the description had immediately grabbed me with its Groundhog Day-like premise and I couldn't wait to read it!
The story follows Maelyn after she spends the day after Christmas wishing that she hadn't drunkenly kissed an old family friend (especially because she's really in love with his brother) and when she asks the universe to show her how to be happy, the universe listens - and the next thing she knows, the family Christmas trip is about to start all over again! I absolutely love this type of time travel in books and I think that Mae and Andrew might be my new favorite CLo couple (and YES I KNOW that's a bold statement)!! I also fell in love with the setting of this book and it really made me wish that I had a cabin retreat to go away to! It was a fast read for me and I just wanted more time with the Hollis and Jones families. Maybe another trip through the weird time travel? Or just more time on the vacation? I did love the epilogue and was so glad that a little more of Mae and Andrew's story was in there!
In a Holidaze is a magical holiday story about keeping your family close and taking a risk on happiness and lifelong love. Maelyn is melancholy as she and her family are leaving their annual Park City Christmas vacation with dear family friends when their car is hit by a truck just as she asks the universe to show her what will make her happy. But when Mae awakens after the impact, she has traveled back in time and is on a plane headed to the annual family holiday all over again. Will she relive the holidays forever or be allowed to continue on in her life once she gets it right?
I enjoyed reading this lighthearted story and watching the relationship between Mae and Andrew bloom. It was a sweet friends to lovers story reminiscent of "Groundhogs Day", so I didn't find it original plot-wise, but it made for good entertainment nonetheless. I recommend it for readers who would like a mental escape or who want to get into the holiday spirit starting in October upon the books publication. Rating: 3.5 stars

This was more like a 3.5 stars but I'll round it up to 4 because I really liked the ending. I really loved the idea of the book SPOILER (the going back in time and getting to do it all again) but for like half the book it was like a love triangle of sorts and I have no idea, like at all, who the heck was supposed to be the love interest. I was so confused and I liked both so even more confusing. I will say that the book was not as engaging for me till about 55% into the story and then it got good and I was no longer confused about who our guy was going to be but then something else happened and it lost me again which is why I cannot rate this higher. I have loved all of this author duo books, most have been 5 stars for me but this one I guess will be my least favorite. It was still good and super romantic in the end which I loved. I also loved that it was a Christmas book. Definitely recommend.
A cute, fun, holiday romance from Christina Lauren!
Mae is stuck, both figuratively in her dead end job and literally in a time loop. Normally, her Christmas holiday vacation with her parents and various family friends is her favorite time of year, but after making some eggnog based decisions, Mae finds herself on her way home full of regret. When she and her family get in a car crash, Mae wakes up six days earlier, and she finds herself in a Groundhog Day style Christmas, repeating her holiday vacation over and over again. Mae has to figure out how to get it right and how to do something about the crush she's had on family friend Andrew for the last 13 years.
I'm a sucker for anything time travel/time loop related, so I was ready to give this a go, despite not loving the last book by Christina Lauren. This book is chock full of Christmas, which I really enjoyed, and I thought Andrew was a great love interest. You can't really ask for much more in a holiday romance :)
So I didn't hate it but I was also so confused on what was going on and who was who and why they were all together. But I did appreciate that the author jumped right into action and didn't bore me to death with way too much backstory. However maybe a little context in the beginning would've been a little helpful. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the two main characters but it was still an entertaining story.
Another clever rom-com by the Christina Lauren writing duo. I was a little uncertain of the 'groundhog day' path it was going down, but was relieved that there were just a few 'begin-again' moments in the plot. The main characters are lovable, have fun, playful banter, and their connection gave me warm, fuzzy feelings. I was expecting a little more development of the Theo/Mae relationship before this book picks up to have more tension, but I am guessing that was intentionally vague/abandoned to strengthen the Mae/Andrew storyline. (Maybe?)
I read this in one delightful sitting, Can't wait to add it to my CLo bookshelf this fall!

This book was a very heart warming read with wonderfully created characters and a well written storyline that made this book a very enjoyable and worth while read!

Mae is having the quarter life crisis of the century: she hates her job; moved back in with her parents; her "family" is selling the cabin that Mae and her family go to every Christmas; she's been in love with the same guy for 13 years that doesn't know she exists; oh, and she's stuck in a time loop until she figures out what makes her truly happy.
My opinion of this novel may be a bit biased since I am already a huge fan of Christina Lauren. At first, I was hesitant to fall in love with this novel. The time loop plot has been very popular in recent novels (In Five Years, Recursion, etc.). I liked how the authors used the time loop for character development. Mae reminds me so much of myself in terms of fearing change and fear of voicing her feelings. The time loop allowed her to find her courage, be bold, and ultimately be happy.
I absolutely loved how this novel also incorporated so many different characters. It gave that family feel that is expected with the holidays. Each character had a purpose in the plot, even if the character seemed minute in the moment. The romance was slightly steamy, as to be expected from Christina Lauren. This book truly gave all the holiday warm and fuzzies like your favorite Hallmark Christmas movie (and to be honest, I cried at the end). I would highly recommend this book to those who love a good romance or those who are die-hard Christina Lauren fans.
Wow, what a greàt book about family bonds, finding love and learning to be yourself. While over christmas at a family friends cabin Maisie realizes hoe much she loves the cabin and spending time with her family. She just does not realize that she will be having the same 5 days with them over and over again. Then she realizes she has the opportunity to change how these do-over days go and how her life should ad well. Loved the relationship between her and Andrew and did not want the story to end!
I was so excited when I was approved for this book and I was not disappointed! I loved it, I read it in one sitting
This was not my favorite book. It seemed to be a somewhat juvenile story but with adult characters. I never felt any real emotion for any of the characters. The Groundhog Day plot started out as an interesting premise but the time loop got old really fast and just didn't work for me. The story seemed to plod along without any real character or plot development. There was an interesting parallel between losing old family/friend traditions and finding new love, but it fell flat for me. There were a few entertaining scenes that were mildy humorous, but predictable.
I am not going to lie, I was a little hesitant about the whole Groundhog day like premise but I love what Christina and Lauren write so I was willing to give it a go and boy was I not disappointed! Maelyn Jones and her family have always spent Christmas and most major holidays in a cabin in Park City with a group of people that not blood but definitely family. Mae isn't sure exactly where it all started to go wrong this Christmas but making our with the wrong Hollis brother is certainly the cherry on top. On the way back to the airport after being told that the it was their last Christmas in the cabin and it will be sold Mae asks the universe for a way to show her how to be happy the next thing she knows is that there is a car wreck and she's back on the plane heading to Utah for the beginning of the holiday. This rom-com is a delightfully fun and fast read perfect for any time of year. 10/10 recommend!
What a fun book! I was afraid it would be too steamy but I really enjoyed this to get into an early Christmas mood. Definitely the best of contemporary romance - great banter, cute plot, believable relationship. Loved it.
I love these authors! like alwaus It was pretty enjoyable. I would give this book a 4.5 star rating! It was a pretty Quick and easy read
A funny take on getting chance after chance to make things right! Maelyn made an epic Christmas mistake and when she thinks it’s behind her she wakes up only to have to repeat the day over again! There’s something she misses each day and it’s not until she can save more than her love life that she can finally move forward!
I love Christina Lauren and this is one Holiday book you don’t want to miss.
Christina Lauren creates a fantasy world in her new book In a Holidaze and keeps you in a holiday daze while reading about the magic of wishes during the holidays. Maelyn is caught up in a whirlwind of reliving the holidays after making a Christmas wish only to find romance and satisfaction in life. It is an exciting read-- encouraging the reader to cheer on Maelyn.
I absolutely loved this book so much I couldn't put it down and devoured it in one day. This is book is perfect for the fall; curl up on the couch with a blanket and a hot toddy and transport yourself to the festive and supportive family that is featured in this novel. I think everyone can relate to the main character, Maelyn Jones, a young woman who's kind of in a life slump and is nervous to take leaps personally and professionally. But when she's stuck in a weird "Groundhog Day" loop, she puts fear in the rearview mirror and moves towards risk taking without worrying about the consequences. I loved all of the supporting characters particularly Benny who just seemed like a cool, chill, supportive "Uncle" that never judges anyone's choices. I also loved the message of how you can choose your family and that families can remain even if parents separate. I also wanted to be a member of this family. The chemistry between Andrew and Maelyn was so sweet and sincere. I believed that they had known each other their whole life and I really liked the slow and then fast progression of their relationship. All in all, I was so sad to finish this book but so grateful that I got to experience it.
This was such a fun book to read! It was the romantic Christmas version of Groundhog Day. I was really rooting for Maelyn and really liked all the characters in the book. This is definitely a book you will enjoy and I can't wait to read more from this author!
Reading a Christmas book in August because I am just too excited for Christina Lauren's next release!!! It may be set during Christmas, but it really could have been set any time. This is another take on Groundhog's Day, but the duo delivers it without repetition of events - which always bothers me in Groundhog's Day-like stories. Continue with their romance and chemistry between characters that they are so well-known for! This is going to be a great fall/winter romance!
