I liked this book even with all the War stuff going around, there was always that small spark of hope in many chapters. This was a decent read. I don't think that it's one of those stories that's going to stay with me long after I have finished it.
My absolute favourite character is Violet; like she is the real best. I confess I continued through the story entirely for her.

Wartime with the Cornish Girls by Betty Walker is an excellent historical fiction focusing on events surrounding WWII in England. I truly loved this book from beginning to end.

This book presented strong female characters from slightly different troubled paths that all ended up being brought together in Cornwall during times of uncertainty and war. These women: Violet, Hazel, and Eva come together and through strong drives, friendships with each other, and perseverance, succeed despite surmounting odds and obstacles.

It was so heartwarming to see such compassion, loyalty, love, and enduring friendships throughout this book. I loved the female character cast, their interactions with one another, and the paths that they then take. I enjoyed reading about their experiences, growths, and triumphs.

It was truly a great read. I loved this book, and it has most definitely made me a fan of this author, and I look forward to finding and reading additional works from her now and in the future.

I enjoyed reading this book. The story was interesting and the characters were all different. They were all sent to Cornwall to get away from the bombing in London. They all got together for different reasons and it was nice to see how they interacted and helped each other. This was an easy book to read and I recommend that you read this book.

What a lovely book.
Violet and her neices from London, Hazel and Charlie her son from Cornwall and Eva, the well to do daughter of the colenel are all thrown together in this novel based in Cornwall during the War in 1941. The author has filled the book with love, intrigue, and a bit of mystery.
The characters are full of life and she brought them to life in the pages of the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and will look forward to the next novel she writes.

Thanks to #Netgalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy for an honest review.

This is my first book by this Author, I’m sure it won’t be the last. Story concentrates on the lives of 3 women who eventually cross paths. I enjoyed the factual side and the way it came across within the story. Most enjoyable, look forward to the follow up.

A wartime background contained in beautiful countryside gives a warm nostalgic feel to this book.
The plot centres around the beautifully crafted characters and their lives, combining romance and mystery to give the perfect historical read.
A gripping tale which I couldn't put down, containing plenty of the unexpected. A satisfying read, I'll definitely be reading it again

This is my first book by this author and it reminded me a bit of the tv series The Land Girls.

The story revolves around thee young women, each with a different background and their own voice coming together in in a small town at the coast of Cornwall in 1941. All have their troubles, their hopes and dreams.

It had some sad moment, but it also made me laugh and I loved reading about the lives of women during this time.

I recommend this book

The story takes place at the beginning of world war 2.
Violet lives in London with her mother who runs a café and her two nieces. Her sister was killed during a bombing and her brother-in-law is missing in action. Fearing air raids Violet and her nieces leave London and go live with her Aunt in Cornwall but things are not going to turn as they expected...
Eva lives also in London a lively and bold young woman who left her uncle with whom she was living to become a dancer.
When the place where she works is hit by a bomb, she finds herself at the hospital and she wake up to find her uncle at her side. She is sent to Porthcurno, South Cornwall where a father Colonel Ryder works in a military base, there she is going to use her knowledge of the Morse and work as a Telegraph operator...
Hazel lives in Porthcornu with her son, her abusive husband has left to fight for his country. She finds a jobs at the military base thanks to one of her old friend who is also still in love with her...

Violet, Eva and Hazel met while working at the military base, each one of them trying to do their best in wartime and deal with the difficulties they face.
I liked reading about this women, they faces their challenges with courage, all these circumstances changed them, making them more mature especially Eva. It is an interesting story, captivating.

The war was well belted out vividly by the author. My heart was in my mouth as I was reading the words welcoming me to an adventure only in the pages of this book.

I read this book curled up on my bed with a blanket,my sweater and the rain falling outside. What an adventure!

I love Eva,Violet and Hazel roles in this novel. I particularly love Alice, Violet’s niece. She is such a sweet delight.

Reading this book took me to the setting of this novel,Cornwall in Britain. I could imagine how idyllic the little village was described in the plot.

This book is so clean,I can recommend it to anybody interested in Historical sagas.

Oh! You need to watch out for a character called Professor Templeton. What a character he was in this book. I love how fascinating other characters were and I had lots of favourites to choose from in this novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to more books by the author especially about the Cornish girls.

Theme of friendship was heavily buttressed here in this novel.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Avon Books UK through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I liked this book.
I like the way it tells more than one person's story.
The way it just ended was a bit disappointing. It just stopped in the middle of a storyline. I turned the page waiting for the next chapter and nothing.
I'm hopping this might mean there will be another one.
It's still a brilliant book looking at other places in the war not just the city's like London, Coventry or Birmingham.

April 1941 in dagenham east London. Violet Hopkins works in the cafe with her mother sheila they are bringing up her two nieces lily and Alice after her sisters death and the father missing in action fighting in WW2. Air raids are coming every night. Aunt Margaret lives on the farm in Cornwall and violet wants her and the girls to go it would be safer and be good to work and help out in the fresh air and she convinces her mother. Set off for the train journey to penzance and met by uncle Stanley they set off to aunt Margaret's. This is going to be hard work but a big adventure for them. I am assuming that this is the first book of a series, if so perfect for readers of Ellie Deans Cliffehaven books. I like books that evolve into a series as you become involved in the characters and it is fun to see how the story can spring out in many directions and cover lots of areas but still keep the same central characters and area which give a solid base to the books. Set in Cornwall in WW2 we are able to start to get to know the people and how they are linked together. Violet, Hazel and Eva are brought together at a listening station in a rural part of Cornwall, all from different backgrounds all with different stories to tell, but still linked together. the book flowed well and the storylines linked nicely together, I am looking forward to the next book so we can learn more about these wonderful ladies.

This book is everything quintessential about wartime blitz historical fiction. Following the lives of three women who end up together in the Cornish town of Porthcurno where a secret military base is running during WW2, they battle with not only the war, but rations, gender stereotypes, abusive husbands and raising nieces after one woman's sister is killed in the blitz. The novel encapsulates everything about the women of the time and how they rolled up their sleeves and made their mark in what was at the time a man's world and their bond that was created. I really enjoyed this book and recommend reading it. #netgalley # wartime with the cornishgirls
