Thomas Anderson is the author of more than a dozen books. The History of the Panzerwaffe: Volume 3: The Panzer Division was published in 2020. It is the 51st book I completed reading in 2023.

Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own! I categorize this book as G. The author goes into detail on unit organization. Unit strength and vehicle allocation were rarely at the planned numbers. The author goes into detail on unit communications. Throughout this volume, he focuses on the Panzer Divisions.

I enjoyed the 4 hours I spent reading this 317-page WWII history. This is not an easily read book. It really is more of a reference. I was surprised at how many captured vehicles were integrated into the Panzerwaffe. I like the chosen cover art. I give this book a rating of 3 out of 5.

Thomas Anderson has a fascinating read with The History of the Panzerwaffe: Volume I: 1939–42. I recommend it for World War II era lovers. Four stars.

I AM MAD! I enjoyed the rich detail and writing style so much now I have to go but the other two volumes!!! Well done here Mr. Anderson!

The Third Reich and its armies were driven forward by spearheads made up of Panzers and their support. Mr Anderson has written a comprehensive look at what made up the attack groups from the early battles through the end. What I found very interesting was the excellent photographs that this book contains. I have never seen most of them and they are clear and all contain important details that match the theme of the chapter.
During the War the Germans absorbed many vehicles from their allies and those they conquered. Those vehicles are descried and photos are given. The Panzer groups needed extensive repair and logistic resupply. The Grenedier regiments and the engineers that built their bridges and reinforced their bunkers are discussed also. Really this book has so much well described and illustrated history in it that I marvelled at the work and determination that went into making this element of the German Military so deadly. Excellent naration and interesting details. A well done , solid , history that I have never seen so well presented and detailed.
