There is so much that I didn't know in this book. It is filled with a lot of history, but it doesn't read like a text book. Victor Falmezger does an excellent job.showing how heroic the Italians were during this horrific time. I didn't have any idea how difficult it was in Rome. There are a lot of details that are chilling yet fascinating. People rise up when needed.

Anyone who enjoys history, especially World War II history should read this book.

Rome - City in Terror: The Nazi Occupation 1943–44 tells something I do not hear often about
World War II. It was quite interesting. I am giving it four stars.

Reading this I could tell the author has a passion for the topic and has done extensive research. I didn't know much about what it was like in Rome during the war, but the author provided me with a comprehensive understanding. I thought the material, though extensive, was brought to the reader in an easy to read manner.

Rome City In terror by Victor Failmezger is a wonderfully detailed book about the occupation of Rome by the Nazi's during World War Two. It was a incredible heartfelt story of perseverance from Italians, the Escaped Pow's; and the Vatican Church against insurmountable odds of survival. Failmezger did not just write a book about facts; he wrote a book about the story behind those facts as well. It read like a Historical Fiction Novel which made the book very easy to follow. I also really liked that the author had a section that explained what happened to all of the people after the occupation and the war was over. I would give this book a five out of five stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about History. Especially the World War Two Buffs!

Author has done a lot of research to give detailed view of Rome in World war 2. This is a book better suited for history buff

This book is a fascinating and moving account of the occupation of Rome by the Nazis before its eventual liberation after nine months by the Allies.
Rich in detail, it outlines the roles of the brave individuals who formed a resistance movement, the escape line, and who helped Aliied prisoners of war, at their peril. It also deals with the transportation and incarceration of 1000 Roman Jews in Auschwitz, an inhuman final cull as the war rumbled to its close.
Extensively researched, it provides an authoritative account of one of the most tragic times in the history of The Eternal City.
I would add, though, that there are issues with the type setting of this as an eBook, most particularly with numerals and dates which do detract from its accessibility to the reader. Nothing to do with the author, whose writing is impressive .

A highly detailed and clearly written account of the German occupation of Tome during World War II, this book comprehensively covers a subject that I was unfamiliar with. This is highly recommended for anyone interested in World War II, the beautiful city of Rome or in Italy in general.
