The book takes place in prewar berlin. I really loved the female Main character, Georgie. She was a strong heroine , not afraid to stand up in different scenarios . Maybe too much sometimes , that it felt a little bit unrealistic. It was terryfying to see how the people Turned the blind eye to the nazi party and Hitler. What they did and how they become a powerful party. I would highly recommend this book, especially to those who likes lighter ww2 novels. Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion

Another gripping, beautifully written and captivating work of historical fiction by Mandy Robotham. I have read and loved several of her books; set predominantly in Berlin just before the start of WWII, this often chilling account of the build-up is fascinating and has a wonderful sense of place, as well as excellent characters who felt very real.
As a fellow Stroudie I loved all the local / Gloucestershire references too!

Female reporters are few and far between during WWII but Georgie Young decides to head to Berlin in 1938 to report on what's going on in Germany. There are rumors to what the Nazi's are doing floating around the UK but Georgie suspects there is more than meets the eye and when she gets to Berlin, it's worse than what she bargained for.

This is a decent book for the WWII genre of books. The writing is more simplistic than some I've read in this genre and the first half of the book is slower than the last half. This book does shed the light on what happened in Germany during this time and doesn't shy away from tough subjects. If you are looking for a gateway to WWII fiction this might be a good start, however there are better books out there in this genre.

I found this book a little hard to get into at first. However it did start to pick up about 3/4 way through. For me, I just couldn't get into the back story of the main characters being journalists. There was too much detail about this.. But like I said, it did pick up near the end. It finally piqued my interest and I was able to finish it.

I do love a good WW2 story, and this one didn’t disappoint. Vivid characters I connected with, and who I genuinely cared about as the story and danger developed. Would recommend for anyone who likes their WW2 spy/romance stories. I won’t spoil the ending, but I did appreciate the epilogue with follow up news snippets showing what happened…

I received a free ARC copy of this via NetGalley and the publishers in return for an unbiased review. Many apologies for the lateness of this, I hope the 5 star good review is still welcomed!

The Berlin Girl is yet again another excellent historical fiction set in WW2 by the fantastic Mandy Robotham. I loved the characters Georgie Young and Max Spencer who are both reporters that have been posted in Berlin to help find out what is really going on in Nazi Germany. What they uncover is far more treacherous, diabolical, and stunning then what was thought possible.
I will admit that this is something I have not read alot about before meaning the reporters and how dangerous it could be for them. I loved The Berlin Girl and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes historical fiction set in World War II.

I liked this! I loved Georgie, and I found the book to be largely enjoyable: a stronger first half than second but overall a good read.

I enjoy reading historical fiction books set during WWII. This one was a little different than my typical read. This story was centered on Berlin and only covered a year before WWII began. The primary character, Georgie, was an amazing individual. Her work as a reporter and willingness to investigate the truth behind Hitler was nothing short of admirable. The political changes that became prevalent throughout the story made you feel the tension that was mounting as Georgie and her fellow journalist, Max, found themselves surrounded by the lies and propaganda Hitler was touting. Though focused on WWII, this was a lighter read than most of the books I typically read in this genre.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Mandy Robotham has quickly become one of my favorite historical fiction authors. Her topics are so dynamic and I love the fact that reading one of her books doesn't mean you've read them all.

From the perspective of a couple of reporters sent to Berlin, a city on the cusp of war in 1939, Robotham weaves a story I plan to reread! I have read at least 3 books written by Robotham and I truly hope she doesn't become a retired writer anytime soon!

A brilliant war time novel set in Berlin. Suspense, mystery and putting right the wrongs are woven into this unputdownable book. Mandy Robotham does not disappoint. Brilliant!

Great WW2 book. Georgie is a great character being sent to report in Berlin in the run up to the war, showing a different perspective to normal books of this period. I found it a really interesting book and very compelling reading

What a strong WWII book! I'm particularly interested in this genre and have been on the lookout for good stories, and I'm sure no one will waste their time with this one.
Georgie was a great, brave character, it was easy to root for her.
Is this a totally realistic book? No, but consider it's fiction - perhaps a bit of unrealistic is what we need when we read books set in this time.

Sad but inspiring tale of journalists reporting on Nazi germany in Berlin. Another perspective on people that lived and worked through the time.
