When bad girls lie, good girls die.
An unsettling air of eeriness and uneasy surrounds this story. It's dark. It's tragic. It's devastating.
It's like tumbling down the rabbit hole into a nightmare. And it's absolutely fabulous!!
I was hooked on this story from the beginning until the mind-blowing end!
There's no question, Carissa Ann Lynch is a fabulous writer. I will read ANYTHING this woman writes!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Jenny was murdered, Chrissy confesses and is sent to prison. Natalie saw the aftermath of the murder as it happened on her family farm and became obsessed with finding out why. When Chrissy is released Natalie writes to her to write a book about what happened and why.
I rarely read a book in one sitting but this had me turning the pages as fast as I could read them. I was gripped with the storyline. I loved all the twists in the story. It's quite sad in places what happened and a massive can of worms is opened when Natalie and Chrissy meet. Loved it. I will be looking out for more from this author.
Thank for the advanced copy - the story line did not disappoint. It was an amazing read. I couldn’t put it down
This book was intriguing and fast paced, once i started i was engrossed with it.
Great story, will be looking out for more from this author.
I loved The One Night Stand so this was a no-brainer for me to request. Carissa Ann Lynch engages you with the relationship of Chrissy and Natalie each involved in some way with a tragic event, the death of fourteen year old Jenny thirty years ago. Chrissy admitted to the murder and was sent to prison for thirty years, now she's back and says she didn't do it. Aspiring writer Natalie is willing to listen to her side of the story and try and get a book out of it.
This is an excellent whodunit, each new chapter brings a little more information to the reader meaning I was constantly changing my theories as I went along. To me, this is the best part of reading a thriller. I devoured this book in one sitting (it is a short book though) as I couldn’t put it down. The story line is engaging and surprising at the end.
The Bottom Line:
I loved this. An easy read, fast-paced and an insight into 2 different characters. It was interesting to see the perspective from two strong women.
A young girl, Natalie, witnesses the discovery of a body on her family's farm. She has no idea how this event will frame the entire future of her and her family. A teenage girl named Chrissy who knew the victim is arrested for the crime and she soon confesses and is sentenced to life in prison. In the present timeframe, Natalie is now a fortyish woman living alone on her family's farm, a failed writer working as a cashier to get by. She cannot believe the news spreading around town. Chrissy is not only being released from prison, but she's returning to live in the same town where she's a convicted murderer.
The people in town are understandably furious and waste no time in finding where Chrissy is living now and joining the media in harassing her day and night. Natalie can't stop thinking how unlikely it was - a young girl killing so brazenly and dumping the body on someone's farm. She writes a letter to Chrissy asking for her side of the story, not quite expecting to ever hear back. Imagine her surprise when Chrissy not only agrees to meet her, but asks her to write about her innocence.
Never quite knowing if Chrissy's being truthful or feeding her a bunch of lies, Natalie nevertheless looks deeper into the information Chrissy provides, learning new revelations about the case and the ties between the teenagers involved. What had seemed so open and shut now causes her to question the past and her relationship with the family she no longer has. She wants the truth, but if Chrissy is proved innocent, that means the real killer is still out there and Natalie may be in more danger than she ever feared.
You won't believe how this story unfolds, and you'll find yourself racing to the end, just as obsessed as Natalie with discovering the truth behind all of the lies.
Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of She Lied She Died.
Overall I thought this was a pretty good book. I really enjoyed the ending and didn’t see it coming, which is my favorite type of book! Natalie was only a little kid when she looked into her family’s field and saw the dead body of Jenny Juliott. A local girl, Chrissy Cornwall, confessed to the crime and was put in jail. Thirty years later Chrissy is being released and Natalie, an aspiring writer, sees it as an opportunity to write Chrissy’s story, not ever fully believing she was the murderer. But if Chrissy wasn’t the murdered, who is? Was Natalie’s brother Jack involved?? They all knew each other. Natalie is determined to find out but sometimes the truth is better left untold!
A good well written solid read although I wouldn't call it a psychologcial thriller but I did enjoy it and can recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
This book is so good. It was really hard to put down. Now, that I have turned to the last page and the mystery that has gripped me hard, has finally been revealed, I still sit here, in shock. I was so invested in this storyline; I am left with the same feelings experienced after watching the season finale of my favorite TV series. The characters will be missed. This, in my opinion is Author Lynch's best book to date. A must read.
A special thank you to Netgalley for the early copy.
Jenny, a local teenager is found dead on Natalie's family property. Another teenager, Chrissy is found guilty. But, after 30years, Chrissy is set free and Natalie wants to know the truth. But the truth is another one, more tragic. A great thriller and I didn't expect this ending!
Thank you Netgalley for this nice book.
I personally give very few 5-star reviews. This one is well deserved!
I downloaded an early copy of this from Net Galley.
Julie Juliott was murdered when Natalie was nine years old. She watched the commotion from her brother’s bedroom window after Julie’s body was found on her family’s farm. Natalie moved away from home when she was old enough but ended up coming back home to take care of the family farm, or at least what was left of it. Chrissy, the woman accused of Julie’s murder, was released from prison (having confessed to the crime) and Natalie reached out to her. It had always been Natalie’s dream to write a book some day and to her this seemed like the perfect opportunity, a chance to tell Chrissy’s side of things. As the story unfolds, Natalie is led down a path that leads her to the truth … a truth that she was not expecting.
Ms. Lynch just keeps getting better and better. She has totally knocked this one out of the park. Releasing December 2020. Don’t miss this one!
This is a great psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page. One of the most surprising books I’ve read this year.
My Review:
What makes a perfect book to me? Well my perfect book is a book that shocks me to the very bottom of my soul. That’s what this book did to me. That ending was perfection in my eyes. I wouldn’t have guessed that in a million years. I had no clue that was where it was going to lead me. I want to shout to the moon and back on how good this book was.
This book was about a woman named Natalie who can not let go of the past. A murder occurred on her family’s property many years ago and now the perpetrator is being released. There is a catch though the killer is stating her innocence. How far will Natalie go to find out the truth? Is the killer really telling her the truth?
Ok, so if you are reading this far into my review you already know how much I loved this book. What wasn’t to love about this book is the real question. I loved everything about this book. The characters were well written, the plot was interesting, and that ending was awesome. There were characters in this book that you loved to hate when the truth finally came out. No one can be sweet and innocent all the time. The story line was good too. I always love a good murder mystery with a killer twist at the end. Oh that ending will stay with me for a very long time. I read many books so it’s hard to shock me but not this book. That ending was like a roller coaster ride I never wanted to end. There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Well done Carissa Ann Lynch.
Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A good and interesting read!
I would recommend this to everyone who loves a good story with captivating characters! Definitely a good read!
This is a good book full of suspense and it keeps you guessing until the very end. The characters are interesting and the plot is well-written. It’s not one of the best that I have read but it’s definitely a good one for the shelf if you are a fan of this genre.
I received an advanced readers’ copy in exchange for an honest review
I loved this book. I didn’t know where it was going half the time but that was a good part of the fun. The female protagonists/anti-heroes are great girls to spend time with and I didn’t want to let them go. Can’t wait to read more from this author

Is it a psychological thriller?
When bad girls lie, good girls die
A young girl found dead in a neighbor’s field.
A fourteen-year-old who confesses.
Just a child herself, could Chrissy Cornwall really be a cold-blooded killer?
Years later, the murderer is getting out and Natalie Bryers, unable to forget the night of Jenny’s murder, still has questions.
Well I personally didn't like this book. It was boring. But if anyone is her fan then you can try this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for giving me an advanced copy.
She Lied She Died by Carissa Ann Lynch is meant to be devoured in a single, breathless session. This is a fast-paced and suspenseful read that doesn't let go until the final page. Very well played Ms Lynch.
Natalie Bryers is living alone on the farm that she inherited years earlier. It is the site of a grisly crime, and Natalie continues to be haunted by the night that her family discovered the lifeless body of fourteen year old Jenny on their property when Natalie was only a child herself. Fast forward thirty years, and Jenny's convicted killer, Chrissy, has been released from prison and has returned to the small town. It is time for her to tell the story of what really happened so many years ago, and aspiring writer Natalie is chosen to help her do it. But in the process, Natalie will uncover truths that have been long buried, and revelations that will have her questioning everything she thought she knew.
This is a heartstopping read that had me grappling for answers, and challenging all that appeared initially self evident. It is explosive and satisfying, and I would not hesitate to recommend. 4.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this ARC.
WTH I just read! Breathe in, breathe out! Ob boy, my heart is beating too fast! It can explode any second!
For the love of all time best thriller novels, what a fantastic, soul crushing story I just finished! It is one of a kind: Blood freezing, gripping, nail biting, hair splitter, mind blowing!
Especially that sinister ending, those big bombs the author left on our laps which are exploded right into my face! Wowww! I need a strong drink! A chilled Chardonnay cannot fix the damage the book has done to my poor grey cells! They are liked fried green okras!
I’ll give a short summary of the story: Natalie Bryers, in her mid forties, living all alone at the farm she’s inherited from her family, working at Kmart, living aimlessly after the great tragedy more than three decades ago ruined their family!
When she was only nine, she has seen the corpse of Jenny who was only 14 found at their backyard of family house. The violent media, prying and gossiping town’s people pointed their fingers at by blaming them as perpetrators!
Then a girl comes from wrong side of town and dysfunctional family confesses the crime. Her name is Chrissy Cornwall and she was only 14! But how a girl who is just 14 can be the perpetrator of a vicious, gory, bloody murder! She told the officers it’s a crime of passion: both girl liked the same boy and one of them has to go. Could it be so simple to take another person’s life even though you’re under age and a scared child!
Now Chrissy is middle aged woman, recently released from the prison wants to talk with Natalie: actually she wants her write a book about the murder with new information she will provide. Ding ding she says she is innocent!
And Natalie who never used her writing skills and degree sees it as an opportunity for closure about the tragedy ruined her family. Her father is already passed away and her mother left them without contacting for years and her dearest brother Jack committed suicide. She’s all alone and this case has been haunting her for decades because deep down she knows Chrissy might tell her the truth and reality can be more devastating that she can ever imagine!
She will wish she never wrote to Chrissy to contact with her and start this mayhem she gets herself into. But she already started the fire and she’d better prepare herself to burn to the ground!
Breathing, excellently riveting page turner I highly recommend which earns well deserved, blazing, dark, claustrophobic, mind numbing five stars!
I’m so happy this book put this brilliant author on my radar. I’m looking forward to read more works of her.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK/ One More Chapter for sharing this impressive digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. Once again, Carissa has hit this out of the park! Her books are not extremely long either with helps to keep my focus. The suspense was amazing! Just when I thought this person was really the killer, i see something to lead me to someone else. BUT I never ever saw the ending coming. Jaw dropped! Great thriller!!
