This book sucked me in from the first page, and it's some masterful story telling with a few great plot twists. Fantastic page turner! My main criticism is that you really don't like ANY of the characters - they're all kind of terrible people. I was so curious to see how it would play out, so I read on... but I can see these bitter characters, without more depth, turning off a lot of readers.
What did I just read? Identical twins, family drama, accidents, unlikeable. characters, and a race for millions of dollars. This book was fast+paced, full of great twists. And the ending? Fantastic. Read this book.
"Mirror twins" Rose and Iris are about as identical as it gets. Born to a wealthy, distant father (who apparently fathered multiple children with multiple women in his lifetime) they discover upon his death that his vast fortune is only to be procured upon providing an heir.
First of all, this premise is ridiculous enough as is, and even then, everyone and everything was extremely dull up until about the 40% mark. Add to that a cast of wholly unlikable characters, a ridiculous scheme to win the money, an extremely predictable plot twist, and an absurd and unsatisfactory reveal that occurs within the last few sentences, and you've got The Girl in the Mirror.
My mind has been thoroughly blown!! This book had me guessing different scenarios through out, but I never guessed the ending. This was diabolical!! One of the best psychological thrillers I've ever read!! This book has me wanting to go find other books by this author.
What an over the top, crazy psychological thriller! It's fun and twisted and will keep you guessing. I don't want to say too much and risk giving anything away. If you are looking for a fast paced distraction, this is the perfect book. Thanks to NetGalley and Book Club Girls for the digital ARC.
An amazing thriller in the vein of good twin/bad twin had me engrossed throughout the entire journey. The disappearance of
one of the sisters is used by the other for her nefarious goals. Highly recommended!
I received this arc from NetGalley for my honest review. I really enjoyed this fast paced, engaging book about twin sisters who have a huge inheritance on the line. It kept my interest even when I didn’t understand some of the sailing terms. The book was very descriptive and had me trying to guess the outcome. The twist at the end was great! I highly recommended it for a fun, fast paced thriller.
A great read! I am a mystery reader and this did not disappoint! I loved the story and the characters.
A story of twin women, Summer and Iris, and a fateful trip on a yacht crossing the Indian Ocean. Heirs to the Carmicheal fortunes, the first offspring to give birth inherits 100 million dollars as long as the infant is given the last name Carmicheal. Family drama abounds, as the matriarch has been married more than once ,and has many heirs vying for the fortune. The story was a fast read, however, I did not really like any of the characters, and hoped that no one inherited the fortune. If you are interested in sailing, the passages aboard the yacht were well written, and made me feel as if I was on board.
POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD!
Iris and Summer are just like two peas in a pod. But just like any other twins, they also have major differences. Summer has it all (at least according to Iris.) While Iris, has the "scraps".
Jealousy plays a key role in the novel and when someone is jealous that is where lies pile up.
At first I thought this is just gonna be those typical cat fight but two women are strong in this book who don't give two sh!t about each other's feelings.
I liked how the author explained parts of the yacht. I am not fond of sailing so i don't know anything about parts of boats or sailing jargons but Rose Carlyle was descriptive about it which helped me.
The twist was quite predictable but in between reading I also had some theories.
The ending was quite hollow for me because I think Adam is really part of the scheme but Iris likes him so much maybe she just brushed it all off.
I liked the book and it was a quick read, perfect for those who want to taste the ocean without going out.
I enjoyed this book. It moved along quickly with a twist at the end. It is about two women who are mirror twins. The older one Summer is married and seems to have the perfect life, Iris, the younger twin is not as lucky in her life. In addition, their father left a will that whoever had the first heir would inherit his vast fortune.
Received a arc from Netgalley of The Girl in the Mirror. I enjoyed the read. It was predictable but a nice storyline. Ended abruptly. Felt the ending should have been different.
The Girl In The Mirror By Rose Carlyle. Summer Rose and Iris are sisters who are trying to get the estate of their Fathers. So who the Good Twinnie and who is the bad Twinnie.
Excellent thriller had me guessing through the end. Quick read. Suspenseful, thrilling? Most definitely! Lots of twists and turns. Would definitely recommend!

I received a complimentary Kindle copy of this book from William Morrow through a Book Club Girl Early Read giveaway on Facebook. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you to Rose Carlyle, William, Book Club Girl Early Read giveaway, and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book.
Okay, this book was a total trip! It was full of twists and turns and was a real thriller. Unfortunately, I figured out a big part of the plot about half-way through the book, but I still wanted to find out how it ended!! I actually read this book on one of the hottest days in Los Angeles in air-conditioned comfort during the COVID pandemic!!
This is a debut novel and I look forward to more books by this author. She writes well and keeps my interest. But, a large portion of the set-up of the book was full of yachting and sailing terms that I just didn't understand at all. It made the story drag a little for me.
Recommend - this was a fun read and perfect for a hot day INSIDE!!
I really wanted to love this book. It started out slow, but the second half was twisty and more exciting. The characters weren't super likeable, but the plot twists surprised me and I did not anticipate the surprising ending. It was an overall entertaining read. I received a copy of this ebook from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
This book had an interesting plot but was difficult to read because thecharacters were so unlikeable,
Unfortunately, I guessed the twist so the story fell flat. And there were several parts that were not believable.
Wow! What a read! I loved the descriptions of sailing. I felt I was on the boat. I like how the author had you wondering about 1 twin then switch your allegiance to the other. Had to reread the ending, since I stayed up until 3am to finish it. Will definitely recommend to friends!
This suspenseful novel begins with the story of twin girls who are closer than close. They share everything, except happiness. Summer has it all - looks, personality, the golden girl. Iris, meanwhile, sees herself as less than Summer and is constantly trying to catch up. Their father passes away and leaves his fortune to the first of his multiple children that marries and produces an heir.. So the race is on. There are lots of twists and turns that keep you reading and the ending was a big surprise.
