AMAZING...Loved this book and loved everything about it, I can't wait for more from this author.
5 star
Such a great book! I enjoyed reading this one so much! I highly recommend this book. Side note: the cover!!!!
2.5 stars.
it was an alright story, i wasn`t blown away as i had hoped i`d be. But i did really like the writing, but the insta-love was sort of too much for me.
Myla and Lincoln's son Maxon is all grown up! He's hit that odd phase at 22 where you are searching for yourself and he's having trouble finding it... until he meets water elemental Lianna.
This pair is just as overwhelmed with things like duty and danger as his parents and it was so fun watching him transform from a frustrating womanizer to a man willing to do anything for his true love.
I love Bauer's imagination! Can't get enough of her series'.
I have DNFed this book because it wasn't the right one for me. The worldbuilding, as far as I have read, was interesting and it was promising, also the male protagonists that I saw so far, the first group, was intriguing, but Lianna and her part of the story weren't so compelling to me. I was quite bored, and so I decided to just let it go.
Thanks for the opportunity!
I didn't realize how long this series was when the publisher/tour company offered it to me. 5 books is a lot for a one book promo. I will buy the series and review it when I have time. They do sound great! I appreciate that they were all gifted to me!
Christina Bauer does an excellent job presenting the reader with a kick-butt team of demon hunters! Maxon Extended Edition is a great read for teens and adults. It will keep you interested and wanting more.
Although I haven't read the original Angelbound series, now that I've read Maxon's book, I'm completely sold!
Having no idea about the world inside these books, I had a little difficulty in the first chapters to understand the world, the realms, all kind of characters, elementals, thrax, demons, angels… I believe as of chapter 3 I’ve really started devouring it.
It kept me up all night two nights in a row, is THAT good! On to Portia now 😊
I foresee lots of nights with no sleep as I have all 5 books in the series 😃
I could not put this book down it was so good. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the books. The characters are very relatable and pull you in and the world building is amazing I didn’t want to leave.
I loved this book.
So this book took me a while to get into initially, when i started reading this book i felt like i was missing big chunks of information about the world and the characters. This made for a slow introduction.
Once i got a few chapters in i was hooked and couldn't put it down. It was a straight forward love story, there was no love triangle and both characters are strong and independent enough to know what they want and don't play games. This book was action packed and so addictive i felt so invested in these characters and not just the main characters. The full recipe for a great book.
I can't believe i have never heard of this series before now.
I am now a huge fan of this series and i will be continuing with Portia's. I want to go back to the beginning but i also can't wait to read about Portia and Tempest. So i will carry on with this series and then jump back to the beginning.
Christina Bauer gives us an action filled adventure in Maxon, the first in the “Angelbound Offspring” series. There is plenty of fighting with blood and gore with different paranormals. There is treachery and double-dealing. Friends banding together to fight evil. Maxon is a kick-butt and take names later if you even want to read.
Bauer then adds comedic tones with family. I always love a funny grandmother and Bauer provides a wise-cracking all-knowing one. Love her!
Of course there is a girl. In the synopsis it sounds like Lianna is a girl that needs to be rescued. Ummm...No. Bauer has created a feisty strong-willed female that fights to help her people. Maxon does not fall for her because of her looks, but because she is smart and does not stop fighting.
Action. Check. Blood and gore. Check. Comedy. Check. Romance. Check. More coming my way? Check. I cannot wait.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
SUCH AN AMAZING START OF THE SERIES. TRULY LOVED IT.
TOOK ME TO ANOTHER WORLD ALMOST INSTANTLY. THE BOOK STARTS WITH A FIGHT AND THAT WAS SUCH AN AMAZING WAY TO START A BOOK. A WHOLE NEW CONCEPT WITH SO MUCH TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND. BOTH MAXON AND LIANNA WAS SO DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER, WITH SO MUCH DIFFERENT POWERS YET CONNECTED IN WAY THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL. THE WHOLE ELEMENTAL CONCEPT I REALLY LIKED.
CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT INSTALLMENT IN THE SERIES.
ARC from NetGalley
The author of this book is either surrounded by really stereotypical douchey bros or no men at all. The male characters in this book are caricatures.
I mostly decided to give this a read because I like most things fantasy and I was hoping for something steamy. The steam was really not the best steam... I was really disappointed.
The writing wasn't like cringingly bad, but it wasn't good. I couldn't get invested in the characters or the plot. The dialogue was bad though. It was bad. This book could have been redeemed if there was hot sex, but there was not. There was sex, but it was like enduring mediocre foreplay with the hope that your partner can bring it home in the end game only to be very, very disappointed.
I have like 3 more of this series to read so hopefully it gets better. Time will tell.
Maxon by Christina Bauer was so exhilarating to read!
This book was definitely much different than I normally prefer with my books but it was so epic I couldn't put it down.
Each chapter you read flips from Lianna back to Maxon and you get both views throughout their adventure together and discovering love.
Although there was a very vast fantasy world that Christina built it definitely worked well with the story. You were in the after-realms with the elementals, they talk about hell, heaven, purgatory and "cloud-side" which was earth.
Such a great suspense, thriller, romance, adventure novel.
I am picking up the next book called Portia RIGHT NOW!

Even though I first read this book 5 ago, it still held my attention and I thoroughly enjoyed it again.
Brilliant fast paced read, wasn’t sure what to expect but this was wonderful. It was addictive reading, I loved the fact both MC’s were kick ass, strong leads. The story was emotional at times and to put the cherry on the cake it’s full of dragons, demons and all sorts of fantasy creatures and characters. I am looking forward to the next book even more now
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Loved Maxon. I wasn't sure when i picked it up but I fell into it easily for anyone who likes Christina Bauers work this is another good one. Friendship, Demons, Love , Fighting it is all there. 5 stars can't wait for the next one. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review it. Recommended.
This book opens with Maxon and the gang doing what they do best; demon hunting with style. Maxon may have angel blood, but he is also part Furor Demon. Which means he has powers across two deadly sins, Lust and Wrath. And in his opinion, these are the very best ones. I'd say so too, especially because he is super sexy and even has a black tail with a tip like an arrowhead that can be used as a weapon. Maxon has all of this going on but that is not everything, he is also a high prince. Liana is one of Namare's apprentices, the Monarkki of water, and currently she is running late to practice. While she is hurrying along, she receives a vision like memory from Franklin, a flying water frog. She learns that her people are in danger from Zephyr, the Monarkki of air. When she finally arrives to practice she is confronted by her egotistical ex-lover, Fisk. However, as the truly badass and independent woman she is, Liana does not take any of his crap, and this is one of the many reasons I instantly her character. A lot goes down, some very serious and gut-wrenching drama. One good thing is that all this leads to Maxon and Liana meeting. This is one of my favourite parts of the book because neither one of them really knows what to make of the other. Liana is spoiling for a fight mainly because she is awesome and wants to prove she is nobody's "girl". (By the way, she has very good reasons for this attitude). Anyways, it results in a sexual tension that is palpable and as they get to know each other, they learn they have more in common than they thought. (And it's all very romantic!)This is not just a love story. It's a love story, of course, but it packs a major punch. Maxon and Liana make a great team while they battle in life and death situations. Honestly, it's not just their lives on the line, its everyone who is part of their different worlds, too. And what an ending! Very unexpected but, this is Christina Bauer we are talking about, so you know its awesome. Be sure to read the entire epilogue, because the excitement continues on to the very last line.
I had no preconceived ideas regarding this nook before I started reading. I can safely say I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish.
I am that type of person who gets heavily engrossed in the story and a well built character profile. I'm not ashamed to say that at certain points during this, I had tears in my eyes and a lump on my throat.
Definitely going.to look out for the second book in the series.
I’m a little torn on this book. It wasn’t horrible, I did finish it, but I won’t be continuing on to the next book. In the first 5% of the book, I felt like I was reading locker room banter between football jocks. Who nailed who, copious amounts of profanity. Talk about balls and one night stands.
I ALMOST put it down but I did promise a review and the reviews for it were really good. So I kept going.
Things got much better after it switched to Lianna’s POV.
The story was interesting and fast-paced. I just could not control my eye rolls every single time Maxon opened his mouth. I get he’s a big burly warrior but he’s also a prince. But on my gosh is he a conceded meathead. He bugged the crap out of me. Every single time he talked to Lianna he called her beautiful… EVERY TIME. Looking back I wish I would have counted. I’m sure the count would be in the double digits. “Good work, beautiful” ”Hey beautiful.” “You ok beautiful?” “You should rest beautiful.” Plus he can’t stop touching her. They are literary at the coronation ceremony and addressing their people for the first time and he’s got her wrapped up in his arms. There is a time and place young horney prince.
Don’t get me wrong, the romance was steamy and I’m all for PDA but ugg! Tone down the testosterone dude. Maybe some ladies don’t mind that kind possessive guy (Lianna sure didn’t seem to mind.) or being called beautiful with every breath but it was too much for my taste. It really affected my ability to enjoy this book.
