Aria is the free spirited wedding planner. She is the last daughter in the Alcatel clan- a clan that swears you’ll know The One when he kisses you and you hear humming. Remington is the disabled war veteran who plan, plan, plans and always has a backup plan to boot. But when he drives her to her next out of town wedding sparks fly... and so do the hums.
This book is part of a series but can easily be read as a standalone. But readers who enjoy it will probably seek out the rest of the series. The characters are real and sympathetic. The plot flows nicely if not very complex.
I would recommend this book to my patrons and will use it in my Christmas list and display.
The story was cute but the characters were kind of meh. I don't see how they worked at all, just a family legend that lead to true love? I don't know. Definitely found myself loving the town more than the characters.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and netgalley for the chance to read.
I really liked this story. The whole series just makes you want to live there. What do they say about the fine line between love and hate? well buckle up because this is a fun ride.
I love a cowboy Christmas romance and this is no exception. I was sucked in and transported to a snowy winter town in the middle of a hot summer. It was a perfect Christmas romance.
Thus book was exactly what I needed during this time of stress.
I have been reading alot lately, during this stay at home period. Mostly I read Regency historical romance. But I was bored, a little down and needed to switch things up. So I picked Lori's Christmas book.
It was perfect. It was funny, it was light. It was romantic. You had a troubled, wounded (physically and emotionally) hero. You had a light , whimsical, bug hearted heroine.
The chemistry was there, the humming was there, the emotion was there.
It was exactly what I needed. Such a feel good story.

I want to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.
This was just okay for me. Felt rambling especially the second half. Still, you might love it, I just don't enjoy page after page of internalized feelings. I was bored.
A charming visit to two of our favorite Lori Wilde destinations – Cupid and Twilight Texas of course. And since THE BACKUP CHRISTMAS PLAN is part of the Twilight Texas Series our visit is during the magical season of the winter holidays. Christmas has a dual reputation, one of joy and second misery. So in THE BACKUP CHRISTMAS PLAN Lori Wilde re-introduces two characters that couldn’t be more different especially concerning anything joyous or holiday.
We are reunited with some wondrously wacky but lovable characters in this newest story by Lori Wilde. The connection between the storylines of this series is just too adorable for words and I do mean that in a good way. We are now watching the last sister Aria Alzate face down the challenge of spending time with the last adult brother Remington Lockhart. They have never been a favorite of the other. Spent most of their lives avoiding each other much like a plague. But folks in both of these families seem to think they are a good match.
Remington and Aria have absolutely nothing in common except for loyalty to their respective families. Traditions and legacy run deep in both families. Arial’s family has lived on and worked for the Lockhart’s for years. All her sisters grew up at the ranch. Her mother was practically a surrogate mother to the Lockhart boys after their mom died.
Lots of history. But does that mean there could be a future. Not if Aria or Remington have something to say about it. So Aria and Remington are doing that magnet thing. But at the same time they have been forced to spend some rather uncomfortable time with each other. All in the name of the family wedding planning business.
Let the games begin.
Remington is still adjusting civilian life basically hiding out at the family ranch nursing his wounds and facing the darkness of memories. Aria is preoccupied with her family legend of the humming while busy as a wedding planner. Ah the humming. Stuff romances are built on. So the legend goes that the Alzate sisters will know when they find “the one” by the humming in their brain brought about by - did you guess it - yep a kiss.
Those of us that are die hard Lori Wilde fans and have read this series so far will definitely laugh out loud at this reference. Pure enjoyment.
Remington’s motto is always be prepared and especially have a backup plan. Aria is a free spirit that manages life through the seat of her pants. Aria thinks plans are a bad thing that mess up creativity. Remington has watched Aria over the years and is aware of how her flightiness has resulted in many unfortunate events. They grew up together and then seemed to mutually grow apart. As adults Aria and Remy have mastered the art of not being together. In THE BACKUP CHRISTMAS PLAN that is about to change big time.
THE BACKUP CHRISTMAS PLAN by Lori Wilde is a sassy sexy romantic tale set in the holiday season. Lori Wilde has created two wonderful somewhat crazy families that have captured our hearts. In THE BACKUP CHRISTMAS PLAN Lori Wilde has once again clearly illustrated the strengths and weakness of her characters. All people are flawed and so are these characters – delightfully so. THE BACKUP CHRISTMAS PLAN takes advantage of these flaws and builds on the promises.
Welcome back to Twilight, Texas.
Remington Lockhart, discharged injured veteran is back home and isolating himself from the family. His father is still the same critical jackhole he always was, just softened a little by his current wife, Vivi.
Aria Alzate, a childhood friend, works for Vivi in her wedding planner business, and Vivi tricks Remington into driving Aria to a wedding venue in Cupid. Aria had a concussion and can't drive, and Remington is trapped, she has no other way. He can't avoid interaction as much as he wants to.
Two opposing personalities trapped together for a few days, his is a somber plan, plan, plan, and hers a bubbly 'it would work out.'
Together they do make it work out, there were some difficulties, but with both their styles, they manage to make it a wonderful wedding for the bride. Along the way they realize what the other is all about, and come to respect and appreciate their differences, as well as fall in love. But neither is ready to admit it for fear the other doesn't feel the same.
They eventually work it all out for their own happy ever after love story.
Ms.Mallery's tale is full of romance and humor with a bit of steamy interaction between the couple. She pairs the romance with a strong sense of family the warts and the good. I recommend this uplifting tale.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse and offer my opinion freely.
