A Highlander is Coming to Town is only my second Laura Trentham book, and whilst I didn't quite love it as much as An Everyday Hero, I did enjoy it.

As it was a complete change of pace, with a story that was sweet, lighthearted, and easy to read; and I really liked the speed at which the story unfolded. Not to mention, there is plenty of wonderful character development, and a very pleasing small town setting.

Yet, if I'm honest I didn't quite connect with the heroine of this story Claire or the romance between her and Holt. But I thought Holt was great, and he and the lovely Ms Meadows really helped keep this story going, and for the couple of hours or so, it took to read, I was truly engaged.

A great book. Claire is hiding out in Highland Georgia while she contemplates what to do about her future. Holt is a homegrown farm boy who is exactly where he wants to be. Claire is skittish and it takes a lot of gently coaxing on the part of Holt to get her to relax, trust her instincts and trust in him and others. When she does she blossoms and is able to open her heart to love.

Often with a favorite author, I won't read the blurb of an upcoming book before I read it. More so when it's part of a series. I know what I'm in for with already visiting the town. So I just usually start reading. It's never been a problem until this book. I was so lost in the beginning. I felt like I was missing something and it caused me to have a slight issue getting into it.

I think in part that was due to the cover and title. I kinda thought the book was about a new male character. That's was on me.

Once I realized it was about Holt I was thrilled I really like him and have wanted his story since he was first introduced. At first, I wasn't sure if Claire was the right woman for him. He's such a sweet, wonderful guy that I wanted someone special for him. It took a bit for me to warm up to Claire and think she is special. But I eventually did.

I liked how Claire took care of Mrs. Meadows. It showed her softer side. She worked hard to make her happy and it showed in how much Mrs. Meadows liked her. I'm so glad that living with her taught her to stand on her own two feet.

Holt also helped with that. He showed her how life should be. They spent a wonderful time enjoying the holidays and being with each other. You really see how nice these two are together. I have a wonderful time visiting with the people of Highland.

This is wonderful, fun small-town romance. It is the third in this series but all of them can be read as stand alone. Highland Georgia is a small community where they hold Highland Holiday celebrations.
And a Highland festival during the summer.
Claire Smythe was the lead singer with a band called the Scunners. She performed during the summer festival. She doesn't want anyone to know who she really is as her folks expect her to join the family business when she turns 25. Her birthday is only a few weeks away and then she will have to decide what she is going to do. She grew up in a very wealthy family but always felt like she didn't belong.
She was sent to boarding schools, and has very little family ties due to her parents always being busy or gone. After being left alone in this small town she takes a job as live in help to an elderly widow.
Ms Meadows will steal your heart, she is cranky, sharp-tongued and lonely.
Holt Pierson makes this story, every woman wants to meet a guy like this at least once.
He is handsome as sin, with a big heart. He was raised in a very loving and close family. The Pierson farm and family is well known by all. He has always done what was expected of him and
just now is wondering if taking over the farm is what he wants to do. He helps Claire when her bike
and ride to Ms Meadows. Claire doesn't trust anyone but as fate steps in she finds herself needing him more and more
This is a fast read with lots of fun, witty times between the two. As both learn of secrets of the other and the attraction is off the wall. Will Claire learn to finally trust someone and learn what love is. Will Holt be able to break down the walls she set up not to get hurt ? Will she give up everything and stay or leave for the money.
Do get a copy and find out you will not be sorry. I have read two of the three stories and will for sure be getting the missing one. All are fun stories.
I received and ARC from the author and would like to thank her .
This is my honest opinion and am voluntarily giving it.

A Highlander is Coming to Town is a cute sweet read. I love the dynamics between Claire and Ms. Meadows. Their relationship is one of give and take and they really help each other out more then they realize. You will love Ms. Meadows and her ways. Claire is struggling to figure out what she really wants out of life. She never expected Holt and the decisions she has to make when it comes down to her family. Holt is a sweetheart that will make your heart happy. I love how he brings Claire back to life and doesn't give up on her. This is such a sweet read that you won't be able to put down.

Do you love Christmas? Men in kilts? If so, then you need to get this book for the holiday season. I’m a big fan of contemporary and historical Scottish romance. I mean, who doesn’t love a tall, strong man with a sexy accent???

In this case, Holt might not have the sexy accent going on, but Claire does ;) This is the third book that takes place in Highland, Georgia where they embrace all things Scotland. Accurate descriptions of Highland Games, music and drink. I love it!

I really liked Holt’s character. He is always doing the right thing and he seems to be pretty laid back and nice. He works hard and hasn’t been the most lucky in the romance department. Part of it is all his responsibilities and part of it is small-town living. Claire came to Highland to run away from her past and to decide what to do with her family commitments. She started working for Ms. Meadows, doing things around the house that she could no longer keep up with. As a secondary character, her secrets brought Claire and Holt together a bit more. I think it was pretty swoon-worthy when Holt tried to impress Claire with a nice date night.

I really like the setting of the town. It’s small, friendly and loves a good party. I think this series and this book will appeal to those readers looking for a nice, sweet, contemporary romance. It’s a got a bit of humor, some personal issues to work through, but a kind and supportive cast of friends. Along with a good dose of kilts and sexy accents.

I'm a fan of Trentham's, A Highlander Walks Into A Bar and now I'm a continued fan of A Highlander is Coming to Town. This one had me up and down with my emotions. It's a light romance and easy to read. I recommend this book who enjoys a little Scottish romance with great back stories. The titles may be slightly corny but the story lines are not. Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for giving me the opportunity to escape from reality in exchange for my honest opinion.

A Highlander is Coming to Town
Series: Book 3 in the Highland, Georgia series
Rating: 3 stars
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC provided through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

A Highlander is Coming to Town was an okay story. Both main characters had an instant attraction to each other, they then get together and then decide to take it slow and that's it. Holt was a nice guy and likeable. Claire was okay too, but her backstory about her avoiding her family really didn't make me feel bad for her. Her reasons for not going back to see and talk to her parents seemed a little immature.
In the end it didn't feel like a long story and any conflict that happened was resolved quickly.

Claire needs to decide what to do!

Claire Smythe AKA Claire Glennallen was staying in Highland Georgia as live in help for Ms. Meadows until she decided what she wanted to to do with her inheritance that she would receive when she turned twenty-five. Claire just wanted to stay under the radar of the citizens of Highland but when she met Holt Pierson who lived on the farm next door when he helped her with her bicycle. Holt was attracted to Claire, but he knew that she was keeping secrets from everyone in Highland.

A Highlander is Coming to Town is warm comfortable Christmas romance where falling in love makes the season.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Scottish lassie facing a big, life-altering decision: sweet, 🏠🏡small-town vibes

4-4.5🌟stars
I was really looking forward to Highland, Georgia farmer Holt's story after reading A Highlander in a Pickup. Although this focuses more on one couple and less on the other residents of their small town than the previous book, the overall tone is warm, friendly neighbors helping neighbors and with shiny Christmas decorations and a day-long Robbie Burns festival to highlight the area's Scottish connection. I enjoyed it.

Claire, Holt's love interest, is a plucky, independent recluse hiding from her obligations back in Scotland. She's a bit of mystery that he's delighted to investigate, all while getting to know his shut-in neighbor who Claire cares for. The attraction was established even before this story opens when they spy each other at the local Highland Games. I liked that the heat built gradually and did not dominate their story. Claire's search for her right place in the world and the tug between her family obligations in Glasgow and her growing attachment to Highland and its residents was just as important. Claire's fight to make her own way and not depend on her wealthy family proves she's got backbone and the trappings of wealth and prestige are something she neither covets nor needs. As to Holt himself, here's a man who knows his place in life and what he wants. Plus he's kind, respectful, has handsome knees (very important for those kilt-wearing occasions!) and ready to try his hand at fancy cooking if it will further his acquaintance with Claire. What a treasure😌.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Thanks to @stmartinspress for sending me thing book! Claire leaves her touring singing group to stay in Highland, Georgia while she makes some important decisions. There she meets Holt (a dreamy lead man character). She tries to keep her distance from him because she her stay is just temporary but she can’t. This book was a cute, light hearted read! It was not what I was expecting at all but I didn’t like it any less because of that! (I had visions of Christmas in Scotland with Highlanders 🤣🤣🤣). While reading, I realized this was a series of book. Now I would like to go back an read some of them as well! The group of characters in this were delightful! I hope there are more to come!

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham

Highland, Georgia series book 3. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone romance. Previous book primary characters do make cameo appearances.

Claire took a caretaker job in Highland, GA after quitting her singing lead in the Scottish band. Holt helps Claire with a flat bicycle tire and the two find their attraction growing the more time they spend together.

An engaging romance rich with phrases like “The oblivion of pleasure was nigh.“
Smart and satisfying. Love the compassions shared.

Excerpt
“Whatcha doing?” The whispered question came with a puff of breath along her cheek. She let out a squeal, which drew everyone’s eyes toward her. Exactly the sort of attention she tried to avoid.
Holt Pierson was hunched behind her, his chin nearly on her shoulder. Her hood had hidden her from over-curious, prying eyes, but also masked his approach.
“You scared the dickens out of me. What are you doing in a library?” [...]
“I can read. And write, when I put my mind to it. Shocking, I know.” He winked. The tease in his voice was like a favorite shirt he wore with ease. Did the man ever get defensive or ruffled? “That was badly done of me. Pardon,” she said stiffly. “I shouldn’t have assumed just because you look like you do, you don’t possess a decent number of brain cells.”
His eyebrows bounced up and his smile took on a wicked crook. He leaned down, and she caught the scent of fresh laundry and shaving cream. The slash of tanned skin between his collar and his jaw beckoned her closer. What would his skin feel like against her lips?
“A decent number of brain cells? You’re making me blush,” he said. “But I’m more interested in what I look like in your eyes. Do tell.”
He looked like a delicious decadent treat she wanted to devour.”

Love returning to Highland, Georgia - the small town obsessed with bringing the flavor of Scotland to the US. Claire is from Scotland but is avoiding her past - helping take care of Ms Meadows and putting off thinking about a major decision she needs to make about her future. She’s content to avoid all people and only venture into town when they need groceries. But when she meets their neighbor Holt - it’s hard to not fall for his charm.

I loved getting back to the town and characters I’ve grown to love in this series - it was great to see Iain and Anna from the last book. I also loved the glimpse of Christmas in Highland. This wasn’t my favorite in the series but that’s my own preference - I don’t love when the conflict in a romance comes from one person keeping a major secret from the other.

I hope there will be more Highland books - if so I’ll certainly be back for more! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance reading copy!

I had no idea this was part of a series so I will say it is easily read as a stand alone book. It may enhance the knowledge of character depth and ability to relate to the characters if the others are read first. Overall it is a sweet, fun, feel good book and a quick read. So if you want a book with a nice small town story and all is well with the world then this is the book to add to your list.
I received a complimentary Advanced Reader copy and was under no obligation to provide a review. The opinions expressed are my own. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

My first Christmas read of this season and I loved it. Set in small town Highland, GA, where the residents embrace all things Scottish, has Claire hiding out here while she ponders or procrastinates her decisions, to be finalized on her twenty-fifth birthday.
Holt, born and raised here in Highland has never had any desire to pack up and leave, he's always known he wants to stay on the farm.
These two meet, their chemistry sizzles, but Claire doesn't plan on staying, and Holt's not leaving.
I always enjoy Ms. Trentham's journeys, so well written and descriptive to place me in the midst of it all, whether they're at Ms. Meadow's house, in town, or at the farm. The dialog had me feeling all the emotions.
A lighter, happy Christmas vibe read with angst, heat and humor. A Stand alone with a very HEA!

3.5 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy fluffy romance and holiday fiction. I would recommend reading the other two books in this series first.

I am a big fan of Trentham's Highland Georgia series, and Holt is one of my favorite characters, so I was very excited for this book. I loved being back in Highland, and with the familiar characters, and the holiday setting was very festive. Seeing Anna as mayor, and seeing the progression of her and Iain's relationship was so fun. I loved Claire. She was a complex character, and I really enjoyed her journey. I thought that her relationship with Ms. Meadows was precious, and very heartwarming. Ms. Meadows in general was a fantastic character, I loved her feistyness, and spirit. Holt has long been a favorite character for me, so it was satisfying to see him finally get his book. I thought that the romance was complicated and sweet. I especially liked seeing Holt and Iain become close friends and commiserate about their relationship issues together. I wish that there would have been a bit more related to the town and the holiday atmosphere, and maybe just a bit more in general to the book... and I'm sad that it seems like there may not be another book in this series... but overall I really enjoyed this book and how everything wrapped up for the characters and the town.

Heat - 3

A Highlander is Coming to Town is the story of Holt and Claire. Holt isn’t looking forward to the holidays since his parents took off for Florida and left him alone to take care of the family farm regardless of how he feels about it. Claire is the Scottish lead singer of a band. She’s hiding out in Highland, Georgia, and hoping to keep under the radar. But when she meets the enticing Holt can she take a chance on love?

This was my first book by Laura Trentham and I very much enjoyed her writing. The book and heart without being too angsty and plenty of passion and steam to keep me interested in the romance. I love the sweetly devoted Holt and his determination to do what’s best for the farm even though his parents are constantly taking him for granted. He so obviously needed his own place in the world and his own happily ever after, and that’s why Claire was the perfect girl for him.

Claire has her own issues she’s trying to deal with. She’s trying to hide out in Highland, Georgia but not doing a very good job of it. She’s dreading her eventual return to Scotland because she has her own familial obligations that are weighing heavy on her mind. She working as a live-in caretaker for an elderly widow in the town whos sort of like the Hatfield to Holt’s McCoy. I loved the addition of Ms. Meadows to this story since I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for a cranky old woman character. Holt’s been trying to get Ms. Meadows to sell the land his family wants, and it’s an added bonus that suddenly she’s got a beautiful girl living with her.

This book is the third in a trilogy, but I did not read the other two novels and still enjoyed myself. I loved the setting of the small-town hijinks and gossip next to the holiday festival, the accents, and of course those kilts. My only minor complaint was that the whole Christmas theme was a bit of an afterthought in my mind. There’s definitely some references to the holiday and there’s an overall holiday vibe, but I’m a glutton for Christmas and I wanted more. I felt like there could have been more activities around Christmas that would have been lovely to add to this romance.

Overall, I enjoyed myself with this book. It was sweet with enough steam to keep it interesting. Holt and Claire are working through similar family issues and I liked that they could understand each other on that level. I loved how sweet and open Holt could be and he was very supportive of Claire who definitely needed that in a partner. As a start to my Holiday reading, it was a pretty good appetizer since it was also a quick read. Fans of small-town romances and sweet Hallmark-style Christmas movies will definitely love this book.

This is the first book that I have read by Laura Trentham and I would try to read more by her in the future. I think I might have liked this book more if I had read the first two and then read this one.
