This is the kind of book you have to be in the mood for. It's sweet, very sweet. Holt is patient, so patient. Small-town charm all around. It's actually the right type of mood for a lovely Christmas romance, and it may feel a bit much at any other time, or when the mood doesn't strike. But pick it up in the right moment and it will be a joy to read.

Such a good book, I love be this series but I think this has been my favourite! Claire is such an enigma, as a reader you are aware she is running away from something but your not quite sure what she’s escaping. Her relationship with the town is one of an observer, quite happy to stay in the background, that is until the very sexy and lovely Holt starts to bring her out of the shadows and she starts to become part of the community. However when her past catches up with her, she has some big decisions to make. Another fab addition to an already fab series

Have you been reminded of fond childhood memories while reading books? What were they?
After looking on this cover of "A Highlander is Coming to Town" by Laura Trentham I was expecting this story to be very Christmasy and a little too "much" for this season, but it wasn't.
Reading this book brought back a very fond childhood memory of mine.
My mom's family lived far away from us while I grew up and I love spending time at my aunt's house while visiting my grandparents.
In the staircase up to the the first floor on the wall my aunt had a small tapestry hanging.
I don't remember if it was embroidered or printed on, but it had a poem on it. I loved sitting in the staircase and looking on this tapestry and this poem. It became my favorite poem and sitting there was my favorite thing to do every time I visited.
The poem was "(My love is like) A red, red rose" by Robert Burns.
And this poem is mentioned as a song in this book and it made my heart swell with happy memories.
There were some very funny and sweet moments in this book. Hubby sent me a few weird look when I laughed out loud.
But there were something about the way this story was written that doesn't quite sit with me.
Like the POV's could change in the middle of the chapters without a clear divide between the two. And a few other things that I can't seem to put my finger on and explain.
All in all, I liked this book, men in kilts were mentioned and because it brought back some very sweet childhood memories I'll rate this book in the low 4's/5

I have loved this series. I've been wanting a book about Holt since the first book. And adding a Christmas element to it? Perfect. This was sweet and sexy and very festive.

“A Highlander Is Coming To Town” by Laura Trentham is the third book in her “Highland, Georgia” series. This was a feel good Christmas time story of building friendships, love, a little humor, and a HEA end. I felt it could be a standalone read, but you might just want to read the first two to get your Highlander fix.
The story starts right off with Claire Smythe trying not to call attention to herself as she goes to town for groceries. She has been hiding out under an assumed name working as a care giver to an elderly lady for several months. She quit a touring band for which she was their Scottish lead singer and thought the town of Highland would be a good place to stay while figuring what she wanted to do about an inheritance that she was about to receive when she reached twenty-five the day after Christmas. She figures if she does not get noticed she would not have to answer questions about herself or get emotionally involved with other people.
As chance would have it she ends up doing just the opposite.
Holt Pierson does notice this mysterious woman and happens to be around each time she needs help. He figures if he takes things slowly with Claire he might get through to her and that she might be the answer to what is missing in his life.
It also did not hurt that Claire thought he looked dreamy good a kilt.

I have loved Laura Trentham's Highland, Georgia series, and a Highlander is Coming to Town is no exception. I will fully confess to looking forward to Holt's story when he was introduced in the first book of the series and he doesn't disappoint. While this book doesn't have quite as few funny moments as the first two books, it still has all the emotions and complications of real life. Both Holt and Claire come together looking for their place in life and what family means to them. And while this is simpler for Holt - having a job he grew up knowing was coming that he enjoys and parents that love him - his parents departure leaves him feeling lonely and missing close connections. Claire on the other hand has been running from her cold, distant family and their personal expectations of her, so being surrounded by people who care for no other reason than because it's the right thing to do is a shock to her. Scrappy old Mrs. Meadows and penultimate good guy Holt are just what she needs to feel she has a family and home to call her own, even if there's no blood relation. A wonderful ending to the series - although it makes me sad it seems to be over!

I love this series.
We return to Highland, Georgia to enjoy the love story between Claire and Holt.
Claire has fallen upon hard times and is grateful for Preacher Hopkin's hooking her up with Ms. Meadows who needed help. The older woman who seemed so crusty turned out to be a wonderful friend to Claire.
Claire avoids making friends, but grew close to the woman.
Holt sees Claire and recognises her as a singer from the festival and tries to befriend her. He eventually makes progress, as do several other towns people and she falls in love with the town and people, while still keeping a big secret.
In no time, due to Holt's dogged pursuit, they become a couple and she feels guiltier about her secrets.
Soon she can't bear the thought of leaving and comes clean, while still pondering what she wil do.
A sweet, sensual and humor laden contemporary romance with hot kilted Scots.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC and was delighted with the story and recommend it highly.

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham is book three in her Highland, Georgia Series and can easily be read as a stand-alone. The previous books are A Highlander Walks into a Bar and A Highlander in a Pickup.
This book is set in Highland, Georgis and the storyline is set near christmas.
Meet Claire. She's a young woman who's kind of hiding out in rural Georgia. She's living with and caring for an older lady. Claire drew the short stick, but it was of her own chosing, no spoilers here, only so much, she's estranged from her family and keeps more than one secret close to her chest.
She meets neighbor Holt and even when she doesn't want, she can't resist his kindness.
Holt is a good guy, caring and loving, the perfect book boyfriend.
The story is low on drama, a timeless romance, with a heartwarming storyline.
I loved reading the book, 4,75stars.

I did not discover Laura Trentham until her Highland, Georgia series was released. She is now one of my favorite writers of romance. A Highlander is Coming to Town is one of those feel good books you will not put down. Although a stand-alone, reading this in the series sequence is best. Former series characters are a part of Holt and Claire’s HEA. Highland is a charming small town where everyone knows everyone else. Holt states he has known the town mayor ever since they were little tykes.

Our sweet Claire is hiding in Highland from her family and from herself. Holt and Ms. Meadows encourage Claire to find her refuge and her strength. Ms. Meadows is that loveable, crotchety neighbor everyone loves. Holt is just a hot guy and a gentleman. Claire desperately needs to find herself. She realizes Highlanders care about her for herself, not for what she has because in Highland, she has nothing but herself.

I highly recommend this book, as well as, the first two books in the series. It is a wonderful, heart-lifting story.

****A Highlander Is Coming to Town is a sweet read taking place in Highland, Georgia. The town loves and celebrates all things Scottish. The story focuses on Claire who is marking time until her 25th birthday by hiding out in Highland under an assumed name, and hometown boy, Holt. Author Laura Trentham has created characters and a plot that beg readers to continue turning pages as Claire learns to trust not only Holt, but other inhabitants of Highland. Claire has a huge decision to make as her birthday approaches. Will Holt be a factor in it? Will she reveal her true identity or keep her secrets close? I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Highly recommend.

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham is a delightful, charming romance that is the third in the Highland, Georgia romance series.

Holt Pierson is the local that is at a crossroads in trying to figure out his place in life and what he wants for his future to include when he comes across another soul searching for answers in Claire Smythe, a Scottish singer, who drops into his life with her own problems and issues.

They end up running into one another and are placed into multiple situations where they end up seeking answers and acceptance from the other all while the author has the excellent ability in keeping these potentially deep and serious subjects light, airy, entertaining, and humorous.

I liked the chemistry and interplay between Holt and Claire and enjoyed the plot and pacing, as well. I also love a good Christmas theme, so that was an added plus for me.

All in all a great romance and a great ending.

5/5 stars

A sweet romance in Highland, Georgia. Claire was singing with a Scottish band and decided that Highland was a good town to hide out in while she decided what to do about impending family responsibilities. As much as she doesn’t want to get attached to people there, or let them know the truth about her background she cannot help but become part of the town.

Holt Pierson sees Claire in Highland and something about her triggers his memory, but he can’t quite put his finger on it. He follows her then helps her pick up the dropped groceries. That is when he realizes that she is the singer from the summer Highland games. They keep running into one another in situations where Claire needs help and is reluctant to accept it. Holt is interested in Claire, but he doesn’t want to scare her off. Can he get her to let her guard down and let him in?

Jump in a lake, Sir.

Aw she doesn't know about Charlie Brown.

Haha! Her parents would have actually died if they had been the ones to walk in on them.

A nice cosy romance, one that also demonstrates family relationships, good and bad and friendship. A satisfying story.
