I’m admittedly cautious when it comes to devotional books aimed at teens for fear that they may attempt to spoon-feed or push a denominational-based agenda. But I have been pleased with this book, published by Our Daily Bread Publishing, a non-denominational, non-profit organization. The daily readings contain three parts beginning with a passage from the Christian Bible (both from the Old Testament and the New Testament, and usually with several verses to provide better context). The scripture reading is followed by some type of anecdote to provide depth to the reading. Finally, at the bottom of each 2-paged devotional, readers are left with a couple questions to take them to the next level by applying the passage to their personal lives. These questions could serve to initiate discussion in a group setting or they can act as a journal prompt in a private setting.
The Introduction to Fearless Faith establishes that a courageous faith begins with a relationship/friendship with “Someone larger than we are…” And that special connection with the Lord can be nurtured and forged through prayer and Bible study. Furthermore, the very first lesson makes it clear that Jesus is NOT exclusive. “There’s never a reason to argue or fight when we’re talking about God. Christianity is not a special club limited to the few people who fit perfectly. Everyone is welcome, no matter who they are, where they come from, or what they’ve done.”
Overall, this 90-day devotional guide seems like a good companion for any teen seeking daily encouragement in their Christian walk. My thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC and to Our Daily Bread Publishing for shipping me a print copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you for the opportunity of reading this amazing book. The grace it took to me to read is undeniably amazing and gives me sense of hope and belongingness. Our Daily Bread Ministries always saves me from the deep.
These daily devotions for teenagers are clearly written with the scripture also printed out for each day. The paragraphs that follow take only a few minutes to read and help unpack the themes of the scripture. Thoughtful questions are included to help use the scripture to draw the reader closer to God's heart.
Fearless Faith: 90 Devotions for Teens is an awesome devotional that helps deepen a teen's faith in God. The devotional is up-to-date and relevant to what we as a world are currently going through (meaning COVID-19 is referenced). The devotional has thought provoking questions at the end of each devotion to make the reader really think about what they just read and to examine their relationship with God. I also liked at the end of the book, the author compared and explained how other religions (i.e. Hindu and Muslims) differ from Christianity and how each religion views Jesus and whether He is real or not. While this book is geared toward teens, this book is applicable to all ages and would be perfect for Family Devotions. I have already shared this book with my Ministry's Facebook group, Kids Ministry with Ms. Leslie. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book! (This review is also on GoodReads.)
#Fearless Faith 90 Devotions for Teens# is published by Our Daily Bread. This devotional will help teens face their issues. The devotional starts out with a scripture reading, then there is a message directly targeting teens, and then there are questions to apply to your life. The devotional is short . It is good for busy teens. The readings are practical and personal. This devotional is important for our teens to help anchor them with all the challenges in our world. Thank you to Our Daily Bread, the author and netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. I hope it is very successful.
This book offers adolescents moments of contemplation, ninety in all. The title is clearly geared toward Christian teens but the ideas could be thought about regardless of one's faith. For example, how does one learn from mistakes, what is love and more.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
Great read for anyone. It's so interesting and definitely kept my interest.
Pros. Helps you connect with yourself and your faith.
Cons: a little slow and not my favorite way to read it.
We obviously have not finished this yet but after a week of using it, I know this is something my daughter and I will continue to read. I love how easy to read and understand the messages are in the devotional. Some of the teen devos are so complicated that my teen puts then down and won't put them back up. Fearless Faith is written in language that is geared towards teens and will help them understand! Each daily lesson starts with a bright graphic, a verse which is written out, a story teens can relate to and then ends with a question to think about. The question is the perfect thing to doodle or journal about (which is all the rave lately) in a separate spiral notebook - not included. This is something I would gift to a friend for sure. I received this book in epdf format in exchange for my honest opinion. #FearlessFaith #NetGalley
As an educator of teens, I found this a useful tool to inform the guidance I offer my students around daily devotions.
The daily devotion consists of: Scripture, commentary, and a question. It's a bit passive for my liking-- I'd have loved have loved to see more invitation to and training of analyzing and applying Scripture, instead of a mere few questions to mull over each day. But overall, a nice supplementary and introductory book to taking the time to read and think on the Bible daily.
This is written in the typical Daily bread format. I like that the scriptures are written on the page for my son and he does not have to go into his bible to look them up. I also like that the focus scripture is highlighted, it helps him to focus his thoughts as he reads the devotional. I do also like the fact that there is a question at the end for deeper thinking and journaling if he chooses. I do wish that there were more actionable items to couple with the questions. Now that the teen has read how can/should they apply it to their life? Although I know this is written for teens, I enjoyed it immensely and believe that this devotional can be used with people in all stages of their faith.
I haven't read the entire devotional, but from what I have read it seems to follow the classic Daily Bread format, but is a little less formal. Snippets of Scripture, followed by a relevant, thought provoking devotional written for teens, and action points make this ideal for my own teenage sons and I'll most likely invest in copies for young teens who are phasing out of the children's ministry program at our church. Would have made great gifts for some grade 8 grads I know! My only "concern" was that some of the devotional readings reference Covid related lockdown so I'm not sure that it will be as timeless as one would hope, but those passages do make it extremely appropriate for the present.
I have always enjoyed Our Daily Bread Ministries works. Fearless Faith did not disappoint. This book was a good choice for my teenager, but also for myself.
When I look for daily inspiration I am always in search of a good devotional book. When you’re having a bad day
or week, sometimes it’s easier to throw in the towel and accept defeat. However, as someone who has the strength of the Lord behind them, defeat isn’t an option. When you can’t find the encouragement you need to get through a rough week, reading through these inspirational daily devotionals to find guidance is always a phenomenal option. No matter how tough it’s been, these wise words can give you the strength to get through the day.
I will always look to give my children devotional tools to live a Godly life. This is why I gave a 5-star review!!
