A great beach read. Though not all of it is unique in its premise, it has enough new thinking, interesting characters and solid writing to make you want to hold on tight through the roller coaster ride.

If you’re looking for a good mystery thriller, you can definitely do worse than this one.

You've got to love a good fast paced thriller, especially in the summer and especially during these crazy times where books are the only form of escape many of us are getting. It's hard to say too much about this book without giving away any plot points, but it focuses on a horrible murder, the aftermath that the brother and sister are left to deal with and the way their past seems to have a way of catching up with them. It takes some crazy turns, but the plot remains believable, for the most part. I could see a movie coming from this book, or maybe a mini series. Great summer thriller!

WARNING: The synopsis for this book gives a little too much away, in my opinion. It won’t ruin the book for you if you read it, but may ruin one of the surprises.

Ethan and his younger sister, Susannah, find their lives altered forever when one night, years ago, a young woman rings the doorbell at their family home. She’s trying to escape two men for reasons unknown. The men find her and barge into the house, leaving Ethan’s parents dead, and leaving him and Susannah seriously injured.

Years later, Ethan is a successful English teacher. He tries to keep his eye on Susannah, who’s fighting many demons, but doesn’t always succeed. Ethan tries his best to keep the past in the past, but present circumstances in his life will prevent that.

This is an excellent thriller that kept me on my toes. Author Christopher Swann does a fantastic job building tension and suspense, and writing fully-developed characters that you’ll really care about. I really enjoyed reading the relationship Ethan has with his sister, Susannah, as well as his years-long but estranged friendship with Frankie...and Frankie’s friend, Caesar. There are, of course, people I didn’t care for as well. The non-stop plot progression would make a compelling movie! 4.5 stars.

Thank you to Christopher Swann, Crooked Lane Books, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was great! A brilliant, fast-moving story and lots of unpredictable twists. I really liked the characters, though they all had their faults, and found them interesting and believable. I am looking forward to reading the author's other work.

Wow, I had never read this author, but man he got me hooked. He had twist and turns that had you glued to your seat, but you weren't lost but you did have to pay attention. I liked the characters and you understood why they felt and did what they did since Swann explains their background. I dont want to give to much away..But grab a copy! and put on your seat belt..

Name: Never Turn Back
Author: Christopher Swann
Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Drama, Crime
Rating: 4.5/5
Review:
Ethan Faulkin was a normal kid with a brilliant yet troublesome sister. But his life changed when their parents were murdered in front of their eyes.
As an Adult, Ethan has estranged from his sister, Susannah, neglecting his father's dying words: Take care of your sister. Ethan has a successful teaching career and is in relationship with his co-worker, Marisa.
But Marisa ends up murdered, and Ethan is the prime suspect. Now, Ethan has to dig out the secrets and mysteries behind his parents' death to prove his innocence.
I am new to Swann's writing style, but I have liked it. The writing style is entertaining and pretty intense. The characters are well developed along with their backstory. A lyrical story full of emotions and thrill, which will keep you engaged till the very end.

Never Turn Back is a powerful story about family, vengeance, and how some actions echo through the years with irreparable consequences.

Never Turn Back by Christopher Swann starts off as a page turner that is quickly paced and dramatic right from the start. There’s a lot going on in this novel but the details are skillfully put together and so well written that everything flowed smoothly and connected without losing me halfway through.

The characters are emotive and easy to connect with and the story so easy to get absorbed in, before I knew it, I was reading the last page. It’s a great feeling when an authors’ engaging characters and descriptive writing can immerse me so far into a story that I don’t notice it’s 1:30 in the morning and I’m almost done with the book! The plot has some fantastic twists and while one or two may have been a little predictable, there were definitely some big surprises and getting to the why of things was quite a trip.

This is my first book by Mr. Swann and it won’t be my last.

Blood is thicker than water. Never underestimate how far someone would go to keep their family safe.

Siblings Ethan and Susannah witness the horrific murder of their parents many years ago. Their crooked uncle takes them in and tries to give them the life they deserve.

Ethan becomes a teacher and goes on to live his life as best he can. Susannah does do as well. Her mental health isn’t the greatest but she loves her brother and ends up on his doorstep after being MIA for a while.

Ethan has a one night stand with another teacher at a conference, she then inserts herself into his world and takes a new role teaching at the same school. Ethan’s torn between doing the right thing and telling his boss about her and going on the wild ride that is Marisa.

Shit starts to get real when she decides to show a little of her crazy. Marisa knows who Ethan is and what his family’s been though then starts to set him up to loose his job. There’s a body, then another and one more after that. But who did it?

I really enjoyed this book. Story line was tight and I enjoyed the switch between the past and the present.

This novel seemed like it was going to be a great read for me!
Hmmm I guess I just wasn’t in the right mood. I know other readers loved it ~ however, it was only okay for me!
I just could not stay focused.
Evenings are “My Get Lost in a Book Time”. I curl up in my favorite reading chair and soon in a book world. However this time, I was easily distracted. I was reading this novel via an electronic copy and the sounds that ~ we all get ~ notifying an updated email, Facebook posts or text messages were ALL a total distraction. I had to stop and read and then respond.
So my 3 stars are a result of my lack of not totally getting into this story. Perhaps I’ll reread.

I do want to thank NetGalley and Crooker Lane (love them) for this early release granted to me in exchange for an honest professional review. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for October 6, 2020

I just finished Christopher Swann’s second novel, Never Turn Back. Wow! This powerful, fast-paced, compelling thriller really packs a punch. Events spring from a family tragedy that took place when Ethan Faulkner was a young boy. He’s managed to suppress the memories of that horrific night, which continue to haunt him and color his future relationships, as he struggles to overcome his past, until an alluring, but dangerous, woman stirs them up. The writer skillfully weaves an unforgettable tale of revenge and redemption, mystery and suspense with memorable characters and multiple surprises you’ll never see coming.

I received this copy of Never Turn back by Christopher Swann through NetGalley..

The story starts with two siblings Ethan Faulkner and Suzzane .Ethan is an English teacher in a reputed school and has a very good reputation among his colleagues but avoids any long term love relationships whereas Suzie is manipulative and wants to do everything which she is not suppose to do. They both lost their parents in which has effects on them.
The story is interesting with the constant entry of interesting characters like marisa frankie uncle gavin etc .Chapters are short and complete . The story is knitted in a way that it grabs reader's interest. and one wanted to solve the mystery.
The reader can enjoy sibling bond, friendship, loyalty and support while solving a mystery on the roads of Atlanta.

I have not read the previous book by this author, but after reading this one, I will be looking into reading it. Ethan Faulkner is returning home from a conference where he had met a woman, Marisa, and engaged in a one night stand. At home he finds his sister, Suzie, sleeping in his bed, Suzie is a free spirit and comes and goes as the spirit moves her. In their younger years, they experienced a home invasion that left their parents dead and both of them shot. That event is front and center throughout the events that happen in the story. There are many plot lines in the book and I thought the author did a fine job of keeping them all in play. I would read more by this author and highly recommend this one. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Thanks NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books and Christopher Swann for a free copy to review.
A captivating page turner that will definetly hook you from page one till the very last page. Suzie and Ethan are two siblings whose life got dramatically altered one fateful night leaving them both affected for lifetime. Make sure to begin reading early as I fell asleep last night struggling to keep my eyes open racing through the book.
A mysterious psycho girl enters Ethan's life turning it upside down and drags Suzie into her vortex.
Well built characters and several story lines to follow. And the most likable character of all, Wilson!!
***** Spoiler Alert!
And also Wilson the dog, should I say more? My rating would have been less positive if Wilson was killed. I was upset enough when he was kicked, twice not only once!

“Never Turn Back”—Christopher Swann [4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️] This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed this domestic thriller and finished in just one day! Ethan Faulkner and his sister Susannah experience a very tragic incident when they were younger that resulted in the deaths of their parents. They were sent to live with their Uncle and just went through some tough times growing up. All these years later, Ethan has a successful teaching career and has just recently started a new relationship with his new co-worker Marisa. Susannah has just returned to town and is staying at Ethans home, as she’s been on the move all these years in different locations. Marisa is so intent on bringing up Ethans past and discussing his parents, which is unsettling and just doesn’t sit right with him. When Ethan tried breaking up with Marisa, her reaction is very unexpected and soon will turn his life upside down. A shocking murder takes place, leaving Ethan a suspect, and now he’s forced to relive his past in order to find out the truth of the present. This was an awesome fast paced thriller that had me hooked from the beginning and Swann did a great job with this storyline on family and vengeance. I definitely recommend adding this book to your TBR list and checking it out once it comes out in October! 👍🏼 *Thank you to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing me a digital ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!*📚

Never Turn Back is a well written thriller with an awesome ending twist. I really liked the main character, Ethan. All of the characters were well developed. The only drawback for me was the excessive cussing throughout the book.

Thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for this ARC.

Ethan and Susannah are siblings, united and divided by the childhood murder of their parents. Ethan has made a nice life for himself, but that night is never far from his mind. Susannah has spent her life wandering, and comes back to Ethan to stay for a bit. Turns out that the murder has never been far from Susannah's mind either. Someone is out to get them, in twisty and mysterious ways.
This book was good. Really good. I think because it was so well written, and the ending was simply brilliant! So satisfying.

NEVER TURN BACK is a finely crafted suspense novel anchored by a likable main character, Ethan Faulkner. I enjoyed Ethan's relationship with his troubled sister, which rang very true to life. And the plot - as a one night stand comes back to haunt Ethan - is riveting. Swann does a great job at keeping both the present day and past storylines moving. The fact that they don't really intersect didn't bother me as I didn't necessarily expect that they would. Both storylines are captivating in their own right. This story doesn't rely on a super clever twist; it is a more straightforward narrative, which I appreciate because it doesn't seem gimmicky.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review
Christopher Swann’s s Never Turn Back” is a well written vengeance narrative and psychological/domestic thriller driven by family secrets.
Ethan Faulkner as a main character is interesting to follow and the way the stakes rise with regard to the core murder mystery and his work life is enjoyable. I did find that the twists and turns of the novel were somewhat predictable but that may have been my having sought out a few too many books that lean into the same tropes I enjoy.
The books two main plot lines never truly connect which is unfortunate but both sections of the story showcase this writers unique and captivating writing style well.
This book would likely be a good fit for those who enjoyed slower building books such as J.K Rowling’s A casual Vacancy.
