First off I want to say huge thank you to the publisher Forever, the author Bethany Bennett , and to NetGalley for send me a copy of it as well as letting me read and review it .What can I say that would make you want to pick it up and give it a try for yourself , I could and will say that it's its hot and steamy, that the story itself is entertaining and witty with the perfect mix of swoon-worthy scenes. That the story is well-plotted and well-delivered in away that makes you want to set back and just read. That the story is enemies to lovers and if you love that kind of story then you have to give it a try.

An entertaining histrom debut! If you want a new author with plenty of tropetastic goodness you can’t go wrong with the first book in Bennett’s series — enemies to lovers meets fake engagement meets Scottish hero, and there’s a lot of other goodness too, including a kidnapping and a stranded at the inn together scenario. I’m honestly impressed with how much Bennett was able to cram into one book! This is an author I’m looking forward to reading more from in the future.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a new to me author & I’m so beyond HAPPY I was given the chance to read this! It’s so sweet, sexy, & witty! The heroine Lottie is a strong determined character which I love! Ethan is our Scot hero who inherits a title and dying estates. Ethan actually “ruined” Lottie reputation & this is where we start! Lottie has stay away for 7 years from society after she lost her mother and brother. She was in charge of caring for her father and the estates. *which she loves.* So when the time comes, and Lottie needs to marry, she wants it to one of conscience. One were she can live her own life. Enter Ethan, who is going to be Lottie’s fake fiancé. Ethan is determined to make up to Lottie & is so SWEET! These two had great chemistry! It was a well written story, good flow, & a great love build up! It was so wonderful when these two finally got to their HEA after going through so much!! Absolutely adored this story & can’t wait for the next one!

This was just okay, but it just doesn't stand out among all of the other historical romances I have read. I felt like the plot meandered a lot, and because of that the pacing was also pretty slow. The romance itself was just okay. I don't know what else to say because this book was overall "meh" for me.

During her first Season, Lady Charlotte was ridiculed in the gossip columns after Ethan, Lord Amesbury drunkenly described her as a Paper Doll Princess. “Dress her up, then carry her in your pocket- along with the fortune you gained in exchange for a lifetime of boredom.” Also while drunk, he caused a carriage accident that resulted in his friend losing a leg. Lottie retreats to the country and Ethan begins to reform. Seven years later they meet again when Lottie returns to London to find a husband her father finds suitable or he will force her to marry a man he has chosen. Lottie wants to find a husband who will live separately allowing her to live her life running her own home. Her parents were so in love they ignored her all her life and she thought that’s what love did to you. Of course Ethan and Lottie meet and learn to forgive. By this time Lottie’s mother had died, leaving her father as her only family. He didn’t think Ethan was good enough for her and refused them her dowry. Now I must be very hard-hearted. Ethan says they shouldn’t be together because her father was her only family, he wouldn’t come between them and Lottie went along with it. Huh? Your father is an uncaring ass who ignored you all your life but you’d give up your future happiness because he said so? There was also a scene where she was shopping for a wedding dress and got all teary because her dead mother wasn’t there with her. You mean the mother who didn’t care about you? Lottie didn’t want to lose the dowry money, and I have to say it’s not often I read a romance novel where the heroine turns down the love of her life because she’d rather have the money! I do have to admire her pragmatism. She also is known for her bossiness. Now, I usually don’t like it when a man is said to be in charge but a woman is bossy, but yeah, she’s bossy. By this time, Ethan has changed to be the sweetest guy in the world but it takes her a looong time to realize it. I kind of want to tell the guy he deserves better. I’ll keep reading the series. The secondary characters are good and I’m interested in their stories.

This book takes place in 1819. Lady Charlotte was entering the ton when Ethan utterly ruined her reputation 7 years ago. They meet again and it’s a clash of enemies until they find they need each other to navigate the perils of ton life.

Give this book a try if you are in the mood for
- Second chance – these two had an attraction 7 years before
- Fake relationship
- Enemies to lovers – there’s plenty of ill feelings after the heroine is ruined by the hero
- Full figured heroine
- Highlander hero, though the story takes place in London
- Steamy – plenty of intimate scenes that are explicit – see end of review for more specifics
- Class differences – hero was a farmer before inheriting the title
- Independent heroine – Lottie has goals in this life and when mishaps happen she can totally save herself instead of being a damsel in distress

Overall enjoyed this story. I was impressed it was a debut. It flows well and was overall a fun read. I liked that the characters matured over time from their mistakes 7 years ago. I enjoyed Ethan and that he really seemed to regret his actions from the past. He apologizes and does what he can to help Lottie.

I’m not sure what exactly kept me from loving this book. Maybe it was just my mood. Maybe it was the enemies to lovers bickering in the first half that isn’t a favorite. But I do when it got to the first intimate scene past kissing and it CUT TO BLACK then relived a bit of it the next morning I was so so disappointed. So sad. And I’m petty enough to let it give me a bad attitude about the book :P Lottie was also super independent and I was hoping for more closeness between her and Ethan. I also thought she was cruel towards the end and it rather broke my heart a bit. I wanted my heart pieced together just a bit better for me to absolutely love it.

Still, I would definitely try her again and am excited for more books from her.

4.5 stars

Lady Charlotte “Lottie” Wentworth is returning to London after a seven year absence to try to find a suitable husband. Lottie’s first season turned into a disaster when the man she believed to be courting her ended up causing her to become a caricature and an object of ridicule. After that, the deaths of her mother, then her brother, then her father spiraling into depression kept Lottie at her country home, managing the estate. Now that Lottie’s father is finally starting to return to the living, he is anxious to regain control of his property, and to see his daughter married. He has already picked out a groom, James Montague, the younger son of a friend of his. Though Lottie would prefer not to marry, but to have her own little home to manage, her father is insistent. She has a limited time to find a husband he deems suitable, or she will be forced to marry his choice of groom.

Ethan “Mac” Ridley, Viscount Amesbury, has struggled for years to make his estate profitable. He is a former Scottish sheep farmer, and was ill prepared when he unexpectedly inherited the title eight years ago. The initial heady experience of being a titled young man in London caused him to drink too much, act too reckless, and behave more cruelly than he ever had. He was initially attracted to Lottie, but had mixed emotions about his feelings. He found her to be too dull and proper, yet he saw occasional glimpses of a spirited woman underneath, enough so that he decided to offer for her. When her father sent him packing in no uncertain terms, Mac was hurt, insulted, and angry. He drank too much, and in his rambling to his friends, he belittled Lottie, something his friends found extremely amusing, and were more than willing to share with the rest of society. His cruel nickname for her stuck, and she quickly grew to despise the man she once hoped to marry.

The years Lottie spent managing her family estate have given her a confidence and a sense of self worth that she lacked as a young debutante. Now she’s not afraid to speak her mind, and has no desire to be a demure proper society miss. It’s inevitable that she would encounter Mac, and when she does, she lets him know exactly how she feels about his treatment all those years ago. Mac also has changed. His youthful actions have caused not only the hurt to Lottie’s reputation, but a serious accident to befall a family member. He has tried to atone for his sins by stopping his drinking and his shenanigans, and concentrating on improving his finances and his properties. After Lottie verbally lashes him, he gives her a sincere, long deserved apology, which she accepts.

Lottie and Mac see the changes in each other -- she sees that he’s now a serious, hard working man, who is genuinely sorry for the pain he caused her, and he sees the fiery and outspoken woman who now attracts him more than ever. A slow friendship develops between them, one comfortable enough that Lottie confides her real reason for coming back to town. Mac offers to be her temporary fiancé, for as long as she needs, hoping to cool the ardor of James Montague, who has also conveniently shown up in town, shadowing Lottie’s every step.

ANY ROGUE WILL DO takes off at full speed, with Lottie and Mac discovering passion and then love. While both would like nothing better than to make their engagement real, there are obstacles abounding. A villain shows his true colors, sabotaging Lottie’s reputation once again, then taking aim at Mac where it will hurt the most – financially. Lottie’s father still refuses to accept Mac, feeling that he is beneath their family, and he refuses to allow the marriage. If they marry against his wishes, he will not release Lottie’s dowry. It seems that this couple is star-crossed, no matter how much time has passed. I really like the strong woman Lottie has become, and how she’s determined to be her true self. I applaud her willingness to forgive and let go of her grudge. Mac genuinely made some poor choices years ago, and needed to make some serious changes. His self examination and the improvements he made to his own character make him a hero I could admire and root for. The villain in this story is truly odious, and, happily, he receives just what he deserves. ANY ROGUE WILL DO is an excellent first book. The writing is well done and entertaining, as well as touching on emotions. I greatly enjoyed reading this first book in the Misfits of Mayfair series, and anxiously look forward to upcoming offerings from Bethany Bennett. Recommended to all historical romance fans who simply enjoy reading a book which is solid, passionate, and well written.

This book was absolutely wonderful. Its a 2nd chance at romance and the trope is that the man wronged her 7 years before and ruined her reputation. But what occured is not how I pictured it and it actually is a trope but a very different than I imagined and which really made this book much more interesting than I thought it would be.

Lottie is our heroine and she is a strong, independat woman with goals and wanting a life even know she knows she must marry. She is looking for a husband in name only. Who will let her run her fathers estate while he lives a London life. Years before she was a dubante and she fell for Ethan and he fell for her, but her father turned down his courtship and he got drunk and spouted some huge insults about her that humiliated and gave her a nickname she hates.

Years later they meet again and he sees her in a new light and wants a second chance but she really really hates him even if he has apologized. That is until they end up in London as neighbors and they start spending time together and he tries to make things right and he is there for her at least as a friendenemy. The truth is Ethan cannot resist her and well the heart, mind and body can't stay away from her and thats what I found so charming about Ethan and this second chance story.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from NETGALLERY prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As a fan of historical romance this was right up my alley and boy did I love it. It had the tropes we are all familiar with and love such as a tall, dark and broody male lead and a head strong female. I personally really enjoyed the characters and thought they were unique enough from their stereotypes to hold their own. I also love seeing the progression of their relationship from lovers to enemies to lovers.

Now lets talk about the romance. Ah it was perfect. Their chemistry flew off the pages and right to my heart.

I don't think it was a perfect book but despite that I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Lottie and Ethan are adorable together. Second-chance romances are hard to do, especially when one character was the source of the hurt the first time around. I like that Ethan's mistakes weren't dismissed as trivial—instead, the hurt is acknowledged, he feels bad, he learns exactly what he did wrong, and he does everything he can to make sure that this doesn't happen again. Throughout this book, Ethan does a good job atoning for the past (though I might have liked a *tad* more groveling, but that's because I truly love groveling) and you can see them build their relationship back up step by step into something substantial.

Fake dating is such a good trope, and this book is an excellent example of why. Fun, banter-filled, and lighthearted. I'm excited to read the rest of this series!

I received a digital advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ethan Ridley, Viscount Amesbury and his friend, Calvin, the Earl of Carlyle, are working together to have their own brewery business. They are staying at a inn on their way to London when a bloodied young woman rides up saying that her coach has overturned and her servants are injured. People immediately help. That’s when she and Ethan recognize one another.

Miss Charlotte (Lottie) Wentworth had met Ethan many years ago when she was a debutante. He had rescued her from the middle of a mob. He then promised to call upon her and never did. Instead, he calls her witless, adding that he has a pretty face and a large dowry. He nicknames her a Paper Doll Princess. His comments were made into cartoons and posted in the paper. Undeserving of his cruel comments, she hates him. She then headed home when her brother died and her mother followed not long after. When her father went into a depression, it was up to Lottie to take over things.

Today, Lottie’s father wants her to marry Mr. James Montague, the youngest son of a Marquess. A handsome young man, she soon finds that he is smooth-talking drunkard and after he tries to accost her, she wants nothing to do with him.

Lottie is staying with her godmother. Lady Agatha Dalrymple. It so happens that Ethan is living just next door. They see one another in London and soon become friends leaving past hurts behind them. Now, Montague has send Lottie a note saying that he will be putting their engagement announcement in the paper. Furious, she tells Ethan who decides that they will put their own fake engagement announcement in the paper before him to foil the man’s endeavors.

This story is delightful and funny. Ethan and Lottie pair well together as both are strong characters. I also loved Aunt Agatha. Boo Hiss to Montague! (Read the book and you’ll see what I mean.) A bit long is my only complaint. I do have to tell the author how much I laughed in her opening remarks about her school teacher who said she wouldn’t amount to anything. What a hoot!

When her first season – her only season – ended in ridicule and horrible mockery, Lady Charlotte decided to give up on the notion of marriage. She certainly wouldn’t marry for love, not after witnessing how her father collapsed in on himself with her mother’s passing, and after Lord Amesbury’s actions that night, no suitors would even want her. Not with her reputation in tatters.

Unfortunately for Lottie, while she might have made peace with spinsterhood, her father has other plans. A grand house in the country, a fat purse…but only if she marries. And her father has just the man in mind. With her nuptials looming on the horizon, Lottie must act quickly. She can’t marry Montague if she’s engaged to another man. There’s just one problem: she needs to come up with a fake fiancé. And fast.

Bethany Bennett’s debut, Any Rogue Will Do, kicks off her Misfits of Mayfair series and I couldn’t have been more excited to dive in! Fake relationships are my jam, y’all, especially when it involves sworn enemies! Ethan grew up in Scotland, shepherding sheep on his family’s farm. He was wild in manner and dress and didn’t feel the need to change upon learning of his inheritance. Before the season was over, two reputations were changed, with Lottie coming out far worse.

Years later he’s grown, matured. While he’s no longer the pompous, reckless boy he once was, a chance encounter with Lottie makes him realize his feelings for her haven’t diminished in the slightest. If going along with this fake engagement means she’ll be his for a month, well then so be it.

Without reading this book, it’s clear how it will go, the familiar twists and turns are all there (the cad of a suitor, the father who knows best, the big showdown, even the spitfire elderly relative)…but I was right there for the ride. Those timeworn tropes are exactly what I’m craving these days; this particular book might be new to me, but the story itself is not and I relished in that cozy feeling.

When I was desperately in need of an escape, Any Rogue Will Do stepped up. Admittedly I feel it could have been a teensy bit shorter (it’s listed as being 352 pages but felt much longer), though the fantastic cast of characters kept me turning the pages. The sequel is already in the works and come June 2021, you know where to find me!

I LOVE THIS BOOK WITH SO MUCH OF MY BEING!!
This second chance romance has a hero who knows how to PROPERLY GROVEL when he was a total jerk to our leading lady. He causes a scandal with her in her first season, and isn't able to have another one for 10 years due to circumstances. He is also unmarried at this time, and he sees her in a new light.
He tries through the whole book to grovel and treat her well! I love how everything plays out, and am looking forward to more from this author!

This was a great historical romance featuring so many of my favorite tropes. There was some fake engagement, enemies to friends to lovers, and even some second chance romance thrown in. The writing was really engaging and I loved the secondary characters, like Cal and Lady Agatha, just as much as Ethan and Lottie.

Lottie was a wonderfully strong and fierce heroine and I loved how steadfast and all in Ethan was. I really enjoyed watching the sparks fly between them as they began to see each other in a new light. They challenged and brought out the best (and sometimes worst) in each other. Their chemistry was scorching hot and I have one word for you - balcony. As much as I loved Ethan and Lottie though, they did frustrate me towards the end because of their inability to communicate and all the misunderstandings. The pacing of the book also stalled at certain points for me and I felt the drama at the end was a bit contrived and unnecessary. I appreciated that it was solved almost as quickly as it began however, and that it showcased again how resourceful, intelligent, and determined Lottie was. The epilogue brought things full circle and left my heart happy. I'm really looking forward to Cal's story next.

Lady Charlotte Wentworth had her one season where she was the biddable female the ton expected from debutants. She left London in disgrace after being ruined by the new Viscount Amesbury. Lottie settled into her families estate then her brother died followed by her mother. When her father sank into a depression, Lottie took over running the estate and gained a strong confidence. Seven years later, her father has pulled out of his depression and has arranged a marriage for Lottie. Lottie does not want to marry the man so she goes to London to find a husband on her own terms.

When Lottie meets Viscount Amesbury again, he realizes that she is very a very different person. Ethan finally has the chance to make up for ruining her season. Lottie takes Ethan up on his offer and along the way, sparks fly and a second chance romance develops.

I really enjoyed reading this novel. It was a great debut novel for the author. It was fast paced with great characters. I can't wait for the next book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you!

Any Rogue Will Do by Bethany Bennett is the First book in the Misfits of Mayfair Series. This is the story of Ethan Ridley, Viscount Amesbury and Charlotte 'Lottie' Wentworth. Lottie had a very embarrassing first and only outing to the town due to the fault of Ethan. So she escape to the country and helping her family with the estate. Now several years later her brother has died and her father who is very sad has turned his attention to finding Lottie a husband. Lottie who isn't happy with her father decision or choice in a husband, thinks to find her own..or a pretend engagement at the least. Ethan has grown since his incident with Lottie and has regretted it ever since. So, when Lottie needs help he feels compelled to help her. Of course nothing goes as planned and feelings start to become to real. Loved their story and this second chance at love. I would recommend this book and this author's writing.

The cover of this book is ridiculous, but don't let that deter you from reading this book. The story was wonderful. I enjoyed every page of it.

I enjoyed this promising debut from Bethany Bennett. This second-chance romance was exciting right from the start, with a strong heroine, a sexy hero, and interesting side characters. I'm always happy to discover new Regency authors, and I look forward to more from this one.
