This was a cute holiday story about two families who swap houses for Christmas. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of sweet holiday tales. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
THE CHRISTMAS SWAP is a fun story, written in Ms. Carlson's sweet, innocent style about two families who swapped homes for the Christmas holidays.
Emma is a sweet, kind girl traveling with her millionaire friends from Arizona to Colorado. She is excited about it, since its her first time seeing snow. West is travelling with with his family to Arizona, but he forgets something and travels home where he is mistaken for the caretaker.
West sticks around because he likes Emma, but when the millionaire's daughter learns who he really is, things get messy.
There is absolutely no faith message but the story is squeaky clean and very fun.
A great book to add to your Christmas reading list.
I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.
The perfect holiday read. The chalet is charming and you’ll love Emma. She’s an adorable and easy to love heroine. I read this in one sitting. Everything about it is as sweet as the festive season and I needed a little predictable in my life right now.
This is an easy, festive read for the Christmas holiday. Though predictable and formulaic, it is none the less a fun and entertaining story. Emma is a warm, likeable lead character, and West makes a perfect hero. Gill makes a good ‘hate’ character, and the seasonal backdrop plays a star role, as does the wooden chalet.
The Christmas Swap is a fun trip to Colorado for the holidays.
All Emma wants is a quiet few days, but instead, finds herself dragged cross-country from Arizona. Although this is Emma’s first chance to encounter snow, her wealthy friend Gillian has another plan as she tries to throw Emma together with her brother, despite Emma’s lack of interest.
West Prescott paused his dreams of a career performing to write songs instead. He’s made millions but never imagined his stunning Colorado home would be filled with strangers for Christmas. When he ends up staying behind and not heading to their home in Arizona, the last thing he expected was to fall in love.
As West ends up mistaken for the caretaker and then becoming an ad-hoc ski instructor, he manages to keep his true identity hidden, until a jealous Gillian blows his cover and the fledgling relationship falls apart.
For me this was an enjoyable read, probably not Melody Carlson’s best. Gillian is a little too shallow and Emma a little too sweet for my taste. That said, the book was a fun read with a satisfying ending. Recommended if you want a quick holiday romance.
If you are looking for a Hallmark Christmas Movie in a book, you will enjoy The Christmas Swap by Melody Carlson. In this book, two families decide to swap their houses for Christmas The story follows the stories of how the two families mix when one of the family members stays at the Colorado House. This was a sweet story and I finished in one day. I would have liked a little more twists but if you are looking for a clean Christmas story, this is a book for you.
I was blessed to receive an electronic copy via the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Veteran holiday author Melody Carlson returns with a tale of mistaken identity that ends in a Christmastime romance.
I’ve been a long-time fan of Melody Carlson and I always look forward to her Christmas novellas. It’s always such a treat to curl up with her sweet holiday stories. So, of course I was excited when I saw her latest Christmas tale. The premise was intriguing and that cover is so inviting.
I loved our heroine, Emma. She was a sweetheart and I can totally relate to her appreciation of the holiday season and her wonder at seeing the picturesque Breckenridge, Colorado. She’s what made the novella for me.
Now as for West… I have mixed feelings about this character. At first, I thought he was going to be a decent hero. While he was rich, he didn’t seem terribly materialistic and he seemed to really care for Emma. But it kind of fell apart quickly. His most obvious flaw was the fact that he lied. Even though it’s understandable that he wouldn’t want women to fall for him simply because he’s rich and famous, this doesn’t make his choice to keep his identity a secret justifiable. I also didn’t care for any of the supporting characters and found most of them to be catty and petty.
The setting of this novella was a delight. Breckenridge, Colorado sounds like the perfect place to spend Christmas and the cottage sounded like such a cozy place.
While The Christmas Swap may not be my all-time favorite Carlson holiday novella, I still found it to be a nice read. I think it would make a charming addition to anyone’s collection of Christmas stories.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Well after reading this book I'm ready to take my (just put up) Fall decorations down and pull out the Christmas tree! I think we are all ready for Christmas and a new year after #2020 and this book had me dreaming of regular life and hoping for what is upcoming. It was the perfect escape to everything thats going on right now!
Over all a very cute, short and sweet Christmas novel. I thought the time with GIllian and West could have moved a bit quicker but overall a cute story to enjoy over Christmas.
This was a sweet christmas story and I enjoy it.
Emma is a teacher passionate by music and is a a closed friend to Gillian.
Gillian was born in a wealthy familly and is a little bit arrogant.
Gillian's familly decided to exhange their house in Arizona during Christmas
with the Prescott familly who lives in Colorado.
Tyler Prescott is a very talented musician and songwiter. Tyler is not able to
take his flight in time and run into Gillian who has just arrived with her
familly and Emma. Tyler decide to hide his true identity and tells her he is
the caretaker.
When Tyler meets Emma later is is attracted by her and he gives her sky lessons,
while there are spending time together they discover that they have the same
passion for music but Emma doesn't know all the truth...
I like Emma's character she is very grounded and humble the complete opposite of Gillian
who is interested in monney, power and can be a little manipulative to get what
she wants, but Tyler is not duped, he is honest and wants someone who loves him for who he is.
I recommend this book if you are looking for a good christmas novel.
Forget the Christmas movies! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good story as much as everyone else and that is why I recommend getting a copy of The Christmas Swap by Melody Carlson. You will not be disappointed in how this lighthearted story gives a glimpse into characters so different from each other you wonder how they ever became friends. The whole idea of a Christmas Swap seemed good at first until traditions caught up with both families. It was entertaining to read how one very spoiled family from Arizona managed the cold mountain air in Colorado. Toss in a handsome hero who wasn't supposed to even be there and you have the makings of one good romantic comedy, commercial free with time to savor.
Reading Melody Carlson's annual Christmas novel is something I look forward to every year. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good Christmas book while getting ready for the season.
The Christmas Swap was a cute story of change in scenery and mistaken identity. Emma decides to spend Christmas with her friend Gillian's family in Colarado when they do a house swap with West. West is a well know songwriter who pretends to be the home's caretaker when the family arrives. She learns a lot about her friend and ends up striking up a friendship with West. I would recommend this book if you would like a lighthearted, fun romace.
It was not anything new or exciting, and parts were definetly predictable but I still enjoyed it. This was very much like a Hallmark Christmas move - which I know is a pretty common statement for any Christmas book. If you enjoy those movies, then you'll enjoy this book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Melody Carlson, and Revell for the copy in exchange for my honest review!
A much needed story that takes you away from what is going on right now. Christmas is the time to snuggle in and listen to the Carol - I'll be home for Christmas- in the warmth of your own living room. Not! Both Emma and Tyler plan to stay in their respective homes for the holiday season. But their friends and families have other ideas!!!
Emma never felt so comfortable with anyone before. She starts to like the caretaker of their house swap. But.....the truth comes out....
I enjoyed this book even though it is August right now. It made me think of some of the Christmas movies you watch on Hallmark or Lifetime.
Pick a copy and you will be transferred to the season of goodwill and cheer.
I received this for free from Revell to review.
This book was the perfect Christmas romance. I love Melody Carlson's books and this is no exception. Emma and Tyler were great characters and I felt their chemistry immediately. If you are looking for a Christmas romance, look no further!
Emma Daley is a substitute teacher and an aspiring musician. She would love to stay home this Christmas, but her best friend Gillian’s family has done a house swap, so she is off to the Colorado Rockies. She hopes there is no family drama this year like in previous years or that her friend Gillian tries to play matchmaker.
Tyler Prescott is a famous songwriter and is not happy when his family talks him into giving up his home in a house swap so that they can spend Christmas in Arizona. When Tyler forgets something at the house he has to return, but he is not counting on being there when his house guests arrive or hearing a sweet voice and being intrigued by one of of the guests.
Tyler tries to hide his identity while getting to know Emma. Emma is busy trying to fit into the family dynamics and is excited when she can go on a little adventure with her new ski instructor. Will Emma find out the truth about Tyler? Will Tyler be able to keep his cover?
What a sweet romantic story. I loved all the family dynamics and twists to the storyline. The characters all had such different personalities and it really added to the story. I really enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to purchasing more books by this author. Thank you so much to the author Melody Carlson, Revell Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! The Christmas Swap by Melody Carlson. Melody Carlson gives beautiful descriptions of Colorado where West and Emma fall in love. One of my daughters drove to Colorado this summer and I saw beautiful pictures of the mountains so I can absolutely picture the setting. Read the story you will love it.
This is a great Christmas read with the story set in Colorado. Who wouldn’t want to spend Christmas among the mountains and snow? I enjoyed the story line and meeting the characters. They are quite a group. Yes, this could be a Hallmark movie, so it you enjoy watching those, I think you’ll enjoy reading this book. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.
Melody Carlson's Christmas books are delightful, and The Christmas Swap is no exception. While the ending of the story is never seriously in question, Carlson is able to create angst in the reader as Emma Daley's romance is endangered by her friend, and holiday hostess, Gillian Landers. If you are a fan of Hallmark Christmas movies, you will love this book. I am grateful to have received a copy from Revell via NetGalley with no obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
A very sweet romance! As usual, Ms. Carlson gives you delightful characters that you want to know in real life. Enjoyed the house swapping premise and the very different locations. Really good read.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.
An easy, enjoyable and engrossing read that made me smile and root for the characters.
I liked the plot which is full of Christmas spirit, the characters and the setting.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
