Should I read in order?
This is the first book in Fay’s Dragon Lords series, but ideally you should go and read the prior series - this one is a spin off from. I felt a bit thrown into the story here and was also wondering about a few things that were probably answered in previous books of the other series.
Basic plot:
Juniper goes for a hike in wooded upstate New York and comes across what, as she she finds out as it hurtles her across the galaxy, is a space ship.
Give this a try if you want:
- Science fiction romance
- Alien setting
- human heroine/alien hero
- some light other woman situations
- a bit of higher tech than Earth
- bit of a class difference feel
- hero washes the heroines hair
- higher steam – 5 scenes but they aren’t super long (but neither is the book’s page count)
Ages:
- Hero is about 50, didn’t see heroine’s mentioned
My thoughts:
I do recommend reading the prior series as this is a spin off series. I didn’t realize this when I started it and definitely felt like I was missing a few things and people were discussed/remembered from prior books. Overall the romance itself stands alone though so if you don’t mind missing a bit of the side character knowledge and world building then it’s fine to pick this up alone.
I didn’t love all the Earth references in the beginning...Star Trek, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc and some things about the writing. There was quite a bit of snark and banter that I wasn’t into, and some other woman situations that came off to me as a bit immature..but that’s just personal preference for me.
I did appreciate the steam in the book and thought the knife grappling scene in the beginning was a good tension builder. But by the end of the book I found myself just wanting something more from the world building and characters. I’d try this author again in another series and see how I felt.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You cannot go wrong a Kiersten Fay book,
Just read it you will not be disappointed. Sexy Dragon King, lots of action in and out of the bedroom.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Another great book from one of my favorite authors. Highly recommend to friends and family.
Really enjoyed this book! It was a bit too short, I would have loved a longer story, but it was still pretty good. A solid five stars read for me :)
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This is the first in a spin-off series by this author. I have always has a things for dragons and this story was interesting. It pleased that both Okora and Juniper were strong characters and it was not just one side or the other. Okora rescues her from a ship and plans to get her back to Earth the first chance he gets, but he finds himself becoming very attracted to her. He has turmoil going on in his kingdom that could cost him his crown. That is a forced arranged marriage that he does not want to give into. This book has the right amount of heat and passion. I can't want to read what come next in the series.
I found this to be a well written romance that kept me reading! I don’t normally go for romance but this kept me interested. A human who accidentally ends up on a space ship and a reluctant dragon ruler who find themselves coming together. It’s an easy going read with funny moments that had me chucking. I would happily read other from this author as it seems there’s more that link in to this? I will be looking out for more of this work!!
3.75 stars
This was a really quick paced book that kept a smile on my face the whole time. I really liked how the love between the characters blossomed. There was a few things that gave me a bit of confusion such as (slight spoiler) the use of stepmother instead of mother-in-law but other than that it read really well. Definitely will be reading the second book and will check out more by this author.
I received an arc through netgalley and have voluntarily given my honest review.
June (Juniper) handles space travel a lot better than I think I would lol. Despite a sudden trip to another planet, June is still has her wits about her to handle anything that comes her way especially when in comes in the form of the handsome dragon king Tristan. Tristan, while determining the authenticity of her arrival before him, finds himself interested in the spunky human who isn't afraid to tell him off. Tristan and June's romance is a bit fast-paced but not unrealistically so. A simple read that easily pull you in. The main and side characters are well developed. While you can easily like the main characters, the sides characters (*cough cough* his mom cough cough*) are just as likeable/loveable. It also helps that there are more books in the series so that you can see these characters again. I'm excited to start the next book in this series as I'm sure the author won't disappoint.
It doesnt support or open after I download the protected pdf version of it.
It's also not showing in my shelf in netgalley and I cant open it to read
Please look into the issue and if you can send me the pdf in my mail ID- taniagungunsarkar@gmail.com
I cant read the book from here.
Please look into the issue and deliver me the book to review properly, moreover i was pretty excited about this book
This was a 2-star read for me, mainly because there seemed to be quite a few plot holes, like how in the beginning it’s mentioned that Tristen has a fiancé, but it seems to be forgotten. We’re thrown into the world and for a bit, it’s a lot of info dumping and confusion (at least for me). I also would have preferred if it was only June’s POV, as I found her chapters much more interesting and enjoyable to read. There was also a lot of sex in it, which don’t get me wrong, I love and this is an erotica, but my problem with it is how because of all the sexy scenes, there isn’t much plot and this feels like a book that should have more of a plot. Overall this is an ok read, just not the book for me. I think this is also a continuation/spin-off of another series I haven’t read so I’m sure I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read those books before! Like I always say, even if the book isn’t my favorite, It’s the perfect book for another reader!
*I received this ARC through NetGalley and voluntarily read this book. my thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the chance to read an advanced copy!*
I wanted to love this book but there was just too many plot holes. It felt more like they were adding a few pages of dialogue to go with the numerous sex scenes. I gave it a chance but Juniper gets off the space ship fighting, and a chapter later is falling in love with her Tristian. He has a fiancée at the beginning but she disappears. It also ends abruptly. I read both this and the next in the series and it didn't get any better.
I liked this book, it was fun and had some great humour. I think there was a bit too much going on at some points that left some plot holes and some of the pop culture references were a bit much. Overall, this was a pretty light and fun read.
Tempting the Dragon King is an entertaining, engaging romance story which is half-fantasy, half-science fiction. It tells the story of Tristan, king of the dragon shifters, who stumbles across a human woman, Juniper, who is a VERY long way from home.
Faced with numerous threats to his kingdom, Tristan has to face the age old choice between duty and the desires of his heart. I absolutely loved watching Tristan and Juniper get to know each other. The scene where he takes her for a flight on his back was particularly magical. I've never read anything by Kiersten Fay before but I will certainly be keeping my eyes out for other books in the future.
2.5 stars, rounding up to 3.
The book could have been better, I just found it lacking a lot of plot, for one. It seemed like there was more sex than anything progressing in the story. We jumped time to the point where in one chapter they met, interesting took her to his kingdom and the next they were talking about love.
There were a lot of holes as well that were not explained, for example what happened to his "fiancee", she walked out the room and never came back into the story.
Also, it seemed like a lot of portions did not fit. Like, it would have been a great story and it would have had a lot of potential if the space aspect was taken out, or the references to modern pop culture. For example, the epilogue mentions the band imagine dragons, and at some point, Harry and Megan were even referenced. Maybe it's just me, but it kind of didn't help the story.
The book itself is a quick read, you can get through it fairly easily, but it's not one that I would be recommending, sorry
Ok confession time here because I actually read the follow up to this Seduced By The Dragon Lord first without realising that this was available. Frankly I wasn't as enamoured with it as I'd hoped but realise now that this isn't meant to be a sci fi romance series but actually a paranormal romance that just happens to happen on another world so more like Dragon Lords by Michelle M Pillow.
This book pairs up newly crowned King Tristan with June who accidentally triggered an abandoned alien space ship on Earth. She's clearly worried but adapts very quickly to the idea of aliens that can become Dragon's. Tristan is still struggling to come to terms with the recent loss of his father and knows that there's the beginnings of unrest amongst some of his subjects. Luckily June provides a huge distraction but not everyone is pleased about her arrival !
This was an easy, quick and entertaining read for me and actually connects to the Shadow Quest series which was my first read by this author. I did like most of the characters here but will say that for me it was June who stood out the most and made me smile. She's such a feisty, bold person although there is sadness in her background which gave her a well rounded personality. There is a little action here but I think it's predominantly about the relationship that this couple form. Yes there's friction, tension and treachery here too , not to forget meddling relatives ! This is a passionate romance involving Dragons, Witches and even adorable children and I very much enjoyed this story.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Who wouldn’t want to fall in love with a king who can fly you anywhere? I know I would. This book had me falling in love right along with. The characters and flying off into the skies right with them. This book was scorchingly good and. I loved every minute of it.
I appreciate the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased opinion and honest review.
3 ⭐⭐⭐
I was granted an ARC copy of Tempting the Dragon King by @kierstenfay via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
To be honest it was kind of everything I expected it to be, apart from the aliens. A mildly spicy book, with a strong feisty female lead character.
I feel as though there is a lot left to be told with this story though. It ended rather suddenly without warning and was relatively short. I expected more from Leanora and her father for sure. It actually felt a little rushed.

Tempting the Dragon King is the first book in the Dragon Lords series, but to be honest, I felt throughout like I was missing a lot of backstory for the world it takes place in. I think this may tie into another series, which meant minimal time was spent on world building because it had probably already been done. It made the book very difficult to get into, being my first read from this author.
I would rate this 3.5 stars overall. Juniper Jones, a human, somehow ends up in a spaceship in space. She discovered by King Tristan, an alien race dragon shifter, when he takes the ship thinking it belongs to his planet’s enemy. The banter and romantic interest between the two is great, if a bit quick after meeting. June’s backstory and how it relates to her time on the dragon planet is well thought out. I did wonder at some of the hatred displayed toward her by members of the royal entourage, because that didn’t add up nicely, nor did some of the reasoning behind distrust of magic/witches, but I decided it must be something that is addressed in that other series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
this was an 'out of my comfort zone' read so i was surprised by how much i ended up really enjoying it. the characters are diverse and each had their things to work on. love the development of this story.
