I love zombie stories so I was very excited to read this graphic novel. Love the idea of two girls finding friendship and themselves in a post apocalyptic zombie world. The illustrations are stunning. Unfortunately, the story isn’t wall developed and is often disjointed. I found it hard to follow at times and so many things are not explained. I kept having to scroll to make sure I didn’t miss something only to confirm that there are just big gaps in the story’s development. Such a shame, this could have been sooooo good.
Overall I enjoyed reading this graphic novel. I liked the setting and enjoyed the illustration style. However, I found the storyline a little hard to follow at times as scenes seemed to skip from one place to another very quickly. I also felt the ending was slightly rushed and would have enjoyed more information about the characters backstory.
Ever After by Olivia Vieweg is a zombie apocalypse graphic novel. The story is disjointed and sometimes hard to follow but it’s interesting to see the human side of an apocalypse.
This was my first entry into the land of zombie literature. Starting with a graphic novel might be a good way to do that - or not. The story follows 2 girls in a post apocalyptic world. Themes of friendship and grief played a prominent part in the story. I enjoyed the character of Vivi who longs for grace and hope after the death of her sister. The landscape was painted beautifully by Oliva Vieweg and I love that she created space to enjoy the scene rather than fill each page with dialogue. Death is ever present and as expected, the refrain "the dead are always with us" is visibly painted for us in this graphic novel. As a genre, it is not one I feel compelled to return to. Death is our end yes, but we can seek hope and beauty AND at the same time remember that our lives are fragile and death might be the beginning of a better, hopeful chapter of union with God. The dead are not always creatures of horror.
Ever After begins with mystery that peaks the curiosity, then slowly lets you down. It's simply the story of a bad zombie movie. The graphics and illustrations were great. Unfortunately, the graphics can't compensate for the story. I would not recommend this book.
I received an electronic ARC from Lerner Publishing Group through NetGalley.
The artwork is captivating. I wish the story lived up to it. The two main characters Vivi and Eva survived the zombie apocalypse but are both carry emotional scars. Each is slowly turning into a different type of being as the story progresses. The storyline is extremely disjointed and neither character's development advances much. Vieweg presents little depth of plot nor setting beyond the artwork.
• EVER AFTER
This comic gripped me from start.
The start in the mental hospital wing, a pretty obsessive caretaker, awkwardness of Vivi, sudden appearance of mental patients and the mention of people needed for work had me hooked.
Then after some pages new gripping characters, fast paced incidents and then the zombie portion hit me hard. Before even getting out of it suddenly a death of a character in brutal way.
Honestly even though the comic book is of 300 pages it totally disnt felt like that.
It was very fast paced. The incidents the surviving everything was really well put together and the characters were drawn in very relative ways.
Eva was also avery badass strong character whom I admire and love. She is trying survive even though she know theres no way for her to be alive soon and Vivi is finding her own way to happiness to feel contained to feel that she belong somewhere
For a fast paced 2 hour read I would suggest everyone to pick up this book

Graphic novel about the zombie Apocalypse, great illustrations and loved the premise. Was a little confusing in places and wasn’t really able to follow at times. Overall an enjoyable graphic novel
Loved loved loved this. Adding it to my favourites list for zombie graphic novels. Hoping there's a continuation of the storyline. Well done imagery as well with illustrations.
EverAfter by Olivia Vieweg is a horror graphic novel which talks about two girls Vivi and Eva who travel to the countryside. Their train breaks down and they end up in a strange land. Vivi is grieving her sisters loss.
The cover is absolutely stunning. The artwork inside the book is also beautiful. But the story is hard to follow through. I guess maybe it's because the story is translated from German language.
It follows a zombie apocalypse, and I did not find it very horrific to be honest. The world author was trying to build up couldn't come through. We could only see these two girls, but what about the surrounding and other people?
Talking about the character, both of them are going through a lot at once so it's difficult to follow up with what exactly is going on in the story. The colour palette of the graphics are pretty good. But overall, the book did not feel good and the ending was very abrupt.

Thank You to the Publisher and NetGalley for this e-copy in exchange of a honest review.
This book is haunting. The characters are intriguing with so much of their stories hinted at but still left unsaid. They each deal with their trauma after surviving an apocalypse in different ways. They strive to live in an unthinkable reality and yet see themselves as terrible people for what they have done to survive. This is a dark story but not without hope. I would love to see more stories in this world created by Olivia Vieweg.
Not for young readers. This book has strong horror elements and an attempted suicide. Beyond that this dark tale is worth picking up.
Thanks to Netgalley and Lerner Publishing Group for a chance to read this early in exchange for my honest review.
My goodness, what a story! The artstyle was so different to the story it was narrating, and I think it made it all the more eerie because of it! A pinkhaired girl on a post apocalyptic journey from one city to another..... It was breathtaking. I enjoyed this so much. I don't usually read zombie related material, but this was a welcome read, and I would happily read this again!
I think the book as missing too many information for me to really enjoy it (about the origin of the apocalypse and zombies but also about Jena and the creation of the cities). This book would have been better as a second installment than as a first.
However it stays a quick reading and the drawing is good.
This book is unrelentingly dark. It’s engrossing, but it’s definitely not a happy uplifting tale. I really enjoyed the art and felt like it was a unique take on the zombie apocalypse. The story had a very human element to it. Overall, I’d recommend it,
This book reminded me so much of The Walking Dead. It was really good, but during the first quarter of the story I was confused. When I finally caught on I was completely invested. The two main characters were perfect for each other, and while the ending was sad, it was also very satisfying.
the artwork is pretty, the story is cool but kinda disturbing.
it really creeped me out, not really for the zombies, but for all the little things they found along the way.

Synopsis from the publisher: Vivi and Eva are two travelers in a countryside filled with the undead. After a train breaks down, stranding them between safe zones, the young women partner up to stay alive. Vivi is struggling with grief—and guilt—over the loss of her sister. Eva is hiding the start of a horrifying transformation. Together they’ll face heat, zombie hordes, and their own inner demons, searching for signs of life in a land of the dead. This graphic novel addition to an enduring genre is thoughtful and emotion-driven, but also full of zombie scares and action.

On the surface this seems like just another zombie apocalypse book, but it was much more than that. This book was mostly about how we adapt when life changes, grief over loss of people and the life that was known, and the importance of friendship. This wasn’t really a scary zombie story, although there is definitely some gore mixed in. It was much more about the family we make and the way we cope when life as we know it is gone. The artwork is gorgeous and even though I have seen some comments about how this is a translated work and some parts don’t translate well, I didn’t notice any issues…so maybe that was an issue with an earlier edition. If you enjoy graphic novels definitely check this one out!
This was a super cute level of creepy, following two girls living in the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, fighting their demons, past regrets, and y'know... zombies. Along the way, we get some very nice character development (nothing too deep or shocking, but satisfying) and some absolutely gorgeous landscapes. Wish there was more!
I would like to thank you for the eARC of this book which was kindly provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This graphic novel is a story about Vivi and Eva their run from zombies and exploration of their internal struggles. I have really liked how it started, but the second half of the book was just so confusing. The artwork is really beautiful and colourful. However, this story lacks depth and basic explanation about what happened before.
BOOK REVIEW
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the Publisher for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As a big fan of Graphic Novels, particularly in the Horror genre, I was excited to pick this one up. Here we have a post-apocalyptic Zombie horror tale, and as such it delivers the shocks and scares you would expect. It also has a couple of nice twists on the typical tropes that make it stand out from the crowd, and the art is compelling and fitting for the genre.
I would suggest that the cover art is misleading, as it evokes a more whimsical story than you are getting, and the artwork is far less clean-lined inside than it is on the cover. Don't be fooled folks.
This is a quick read that I devoured in a single sitting, but that's not to say it doesn't have its issues. There are a few delicate-subjects that I think it handles fairly well, but the plotting and pacing is uneven and feels disjointed at times. The parts of the story that are fleshed out properly do read well, but there are too many sections that are simply glossed over which can make it difficult to keep track of what's happening, and several times I had to check back to make sure I hadn't missed something.
Overall I enjoyed the characters more than the plot, and I feel it would have benefited from being longer to allow for the sub-plots to be fleshed out properly. 2.5 stars from me.
