Final flight.

Well it might be after this book - you might never board another flight again!

Unfortunately for me, I found the book difficult to read as it felt overladen with details and characters ( at times unnecessarily so).

However, could be the perfect book for those who are fans of conspiracy- or even those who have wanted to know more about how the world of Air travel works.

2 stars ⭐⭐

Special thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have seen a lot of mixed reviews for this and I understand why, as I feel like I am completely on the fence with it. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it but can see how other people felt that way.

Great thriller that kept me turning the pages. Great story, great writing and characters. Really enjoyable and would read this author again.

Didn’t end up finishing this one. The first part of the book giving the history of the vanishing Malaysia airlines flight was very interesting. Then it turned into a bunch of characters throughout the world and their background and the story never really got to what I was hoping for

HOLY ENGINEERING BATMAN!

This book should come with a disclaimer saying you need a degree to read it.

I think I got about fourth pages in before deciding that everything was going over my head and I couldn’t summarize what I read even if I was forced to.

I felt like the couple in Beetlejuice with the Handbook for the Recently Deceased it really did read like stereo instructions

I really struggled with this book. I gave it "several chances" but I could not to finish it, which happens to me very rarely with books. The description presented an introduction of the disappearance of the flight MH370 but the content was very different and went in different directions. I went beyond 50% and I was not "able" to link the many topics referred in the book.

Definitely, it is not my kind of literature and I hope this book will find its audience.

Unfortunately, I could not finish this book. It just was not my cup of tea at all. I loved the premise of it but it did not live up to it. It was too technical and read like an engineering manual instead.

I devoured this thriller in a day. Brilliant real-life imagining of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 with a massive dose of international intrigue and shady business.

The premise of this book immediately pulled me in - it's a fictional account of what happened to the missing Malaysia Air flight from 2014. This real-life mystery sets the scene for this suspense novel, which examines a shady international conflict when it's all about money. Not only is it a thrilling story, but I also really enjoyed that it closely examined the business side of things, as well as plane engineering. This made this book a totally unique read even for a hardcore fan of the thriller genre like me.

It's a 4 star read for me simply because it left some questions unanswered - something which would have been more important to most readers than details about aviation and the industry. I enjoy these topics quite a bit, but even for me it was very detailed.

*Thank you to the Publisher for a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story synopsis is not quite accurate in describing this book. But, it is a great story of how the big players in the business of retrofitting aging aircraft influence who receives the largest contracts. The leading software companies have coded trapdoors to prevent intellectual property theft. Their trapdoors are the direct cause of inflight failures leading to mass casualties.
There is a lot of technical language used to describe the actions and consequences that result. It can be confusing if you do not have this particular background. BUT, the basic story and back story lead to some open questions on the disappearance of the infamous Malaysian Air passenger jet. It is spelled out in black and white how this could happen and how it could happen again. A really great fictional story that also contains quite a bit of nonfictional history.

This story is not what I expected. It deals more with the individuals involved in the selling/purchasing/installation than the actual flight itself.

The story shows how all parties try to manipulate any sort of major purchase. It talks about the wining and dining that the seller does, how the purchaser has the power over the seller and how the parties bosses also get involved.

The story regarding the installers had the most action throughout. The hoops they had to jump through in the end and how their professionalism was their downfall.

The ending left the issue open once the package was delivered to Boeing. Even though the story was disjointed, it still held some interest.

This was not the Final Flight that I thought it was - I will likely not have a chance to read/review this as it's outside of my typical area of interest.

If you've been intrigued by the missing Malaysia Airlines flight, Final Flight will have you wondering if this could be the story. Final Flight is a fictional tale of what happened after the plane went missing. The story moves through twists and turns that seem impossible in real life....but are they?

FINAL FLIGHT

This is a really fantastic book.

On March 8, 2014, Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing vanished. This story is not about that event, but it does set the stage for this exciting thriller of a tale.

Aircraft maintenance and navigation control parts replacement. Tough business to say the least. Competition, proprietary information, intellectual theft, international espionage, violence, money, sex, mind altering substances. Major cutthroat. This story has it all and then some.

The author, Eric C. Anderson is a former member of the US intelligence service and has done tours in Japan and Korea among others, and his work in Washington DC focused on Northeast Asia. He has taught at major universities, the US Air Force Academy, and the National Intelligence University. He seems very knowledgeable about complex intelligence and military challenges. This expertise shows clearly and makes the tale he tells feel authentic.

The story Final Flight is told in a manner where you feel like you’re out with friends and one of them is telling a fine tale. It is exciting but serious, not a light weight read. It has enough technical information to help the reader understand the flow of the story. Character development feels real - a good deal of sleaze factor. And oh boy - I will never look at the airline industry the same again!

I would like to thank NetGalley, Eric C. Anderson, and Dunn Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was an ok read for me but just did not keep me totally engaged. The concept was good.
Many thanks to Dunn Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The story started off with strong Michael Crichton vibes (hooray!!!) but then get pretty bogged down. It was more about business (practices, employees, etc) than anything else.

E-book/Thriller(?): First, I want to thank NetGalley for letting me have a copy of this book because I love thrillers about airplanes, deep water, and remoteness. However, I cannot recommend this book. I saw another reviewer, one of the few, who were like me and just didn’t get it. Most mysteries boil down to money or sex, and sometimes revenge. This one was maybe money? It started out great with the plane depressurizing and then it went for over 100 pages of exposition one two businessmen who were part of this corrupt plot only they may not have known the extent of the plot? Neither of them is likable. And then there is a female executive who likens herself to a tattoo temptress to get what she wants? And why do all want to hijack planes? For software, maybe? I never really understood anyone’s motivation or why they were even cooperating in any of this? And the ending was abrupt. I knew more about the character’s personal lives by the end of the novel then what they were trying to accomplish.

Unfortunately, this was a huge miss for me. I was so excited because the premise seemed to surround a fictional account of the missing Malaysia Air flight. And while that was somewhat the case this book took a turn where the reader learnt more about high-end business deals and plane engineering rather than anything else. I didn’t care about the business side of things, I expected to see character POVs when the flight actually goes down. While I enjoyed the gang/ military side of it, I wasn’t convinced enough to care about the characters or be intrigued for what happens next. Sorry but this book wasn’t for me!

This was an enjoyable book yet at times I felt myself confused about certain things. It was definitely an unsettling book which solidified my fear of flying. This would be a great movie!

My sincerest thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

However I could not finish this book. Should my opinions ever change I will be sure to post a new star rating on goodreads and promote the book endlessly. However for now I found that there was too much going on in the beginning and very information dense. A lot of backstory that wasn’t relevant at all. It was exhausting to read and I lost all enthusiasm for it I’m afraid.
