This book has plenty of great options for anyone who is gluten and dairy free. Those recipes can be difficult at times and these all look like they are going to turn out amazing. I can't wait to give a few a try!
Although my family and I do not eat gluten and dairy free, I am always looking to change up our meal planning and this book was perfect to do just that.
This book includes baked goods (not easy for gluten and dairy free diets), salads, Soups, pastas and stir fries, meat, fish and poultry along with snacks.
The intro section focuses on the benefit of gluten free dairy free eating and educates the reader on alternatives to gluten and dairy containing foods. The recipes contain several ingredients you may not have on hand however the author provides numerous alternatives which I appreciated.
I am a fan of homemade salad dressings, and this book offered a couple that will be divine. There are veggie alternatives to pasta, a good swap, as simply replacing pasta with gluten free versions isn't the helathiesh option.
My one complaint is the limited number of pictures. There are some great recipes and I would have loved to see the final product.
Thank you Callisto Media and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very well written cookbook. I found the layout to flow well and the recipes were easy to understand and follow along to. I look forward to trying some of them out for my family.
Tons and tons of delicious looking recipes! I like simple and doable recipes that are gluten free - dairy free isn't a necessity but a nice bonus. Thanks for a great cookbook!
I enjoyed reading this cookbook, but as a newbie to gluten-free foods the information at the beginning was a little overwhelming. I've already converted to almond milk due to lactose intolerance, but did not reale their are so many dairy and gluten alternatives. The recipes were clear and easy to understand! I am excited to try these recipes and there was a lot of recipes in the one cookbook.
Thanks to Callisto Media, Rockridge Press, and NetGalley!
Thank your creating such a perfect book! I have celiac and a dairy allergy and many times cookbooks only address one of those allergies. However, I LOVE that this books is ALL GLUTEN FREE AND DAIRY FREE it is amazing. I love the variety the book offers as well as the easy to follow steps. I know I will be using some of the recipes soon!
It's so hard finding good gluten-free and dairy-free recipes, but this cookbook is full of them. The recipes I tried were delicious. And there is a section at the beginning with tips on how to make substitutions that was filled with really useful information. My only complaint about this cookbook is that there weren't enough pictures.
Yum...look at that cover! I’m not gluten sensitive person but more of a dairy or lactose sensitive so this book was real eye opening for me. My first of a kind cookbook to read and enjoy since the publisher allowed me a copy to read and offer an opinion. If you have more sensitivity than lactose or gluten then you probably need a different cookbook... this one is specially geared towards gluten and dairy.
What did I like? I’m not a fan of oats but the substitutions that this book provides a wealth of knowledge in avoiding lactose and gluten sufferings. Now I don’t have a Trader Joe’s near me so I imagine some of these substitutions harder to find in rural areas. Essentially using these substitutes will allow you the same flavorful meals you already enjoy without the gluten and lactose. I especially liked the condiment section where you can make your own ketchup or homemade dressing.
Would I recommend or buy? There is definitely a fountain of information inside this book as well as some mouth watering recipes. I think if your suffering from more sensitivities than gluten and dairy then you need a different cookbook. Anyone looking to clean up their diet from gluten or dairy for awhile this book offers some great substitutes. There were not as many pictures as I would have liked.
Thoughts for the author? Great variety of recipes, but honestly the substitutes part was worth its weight in gold. Love the cover too! Try adding more pictures next time. The more food porn you add, the more people want to take this cookbook home!
I received a copy from Netgalley but all the thoughts in this review are my own!
Nice and well organized book but with very few pictures. There's a great variety of recipes of breakfast, mail dishes, salad and soups, snacks, desserts and some sauces at the end. I don't really follow a dairy-free diet but I like going gluten free sometimes and I like some of the recipes in this book. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
I thought the cookbook was well organized. The biggest trait I look for in a cookbook is pictures with every recipe. This cookbook had very few pictures. Because of this reason, I would not purchase it. When learning to cook something new, I want a visible reference on what I am making. I am not interested in doing the "blind challenge" on the Great British Back-Off.
I have been a diagnosed Celiac for 20+ years and am also dairy free. I cook frequently for a grandchild who is allergic to the "Top 8",. I appreciate the comprehensiveness of this cookbook. A common complaint I hear from my none celiac spouse and other "civilians" is that the allergy safe dishes we frequently have are bland or tasteless. That is not so with the dishes prepared with these recipes:. The menus are varied and include new ideas that promise more exciting tastes that will keep both the celiac and the non celiac adults satisfied as well as appeal to, and be safe for, the children. The ingredients are either things a gluten free/dairy free individual has on hand or knows where to get. The instructions with each recipe are clear and easy to follow..
Thank you for the opportunity to review this advance copy that will come a frequent resource.
