I'm a Danielle Steel fan from her beginning days. She seems to crank books out so quickly it's hard to keep up with them. I'm not always a fan of her historical, but this is a change of pace from all the other fictions books/thrillers I've been reading. This will tug on your heartstring and keep you wanting to read till the end! Thank you netgalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Royal by Danielle Steel is as wonderful as expected just like all of her books . She always finds a way to wrap you up in her story.
During WWII Princess is sent away to the country to get away from the bombings and keep her safe. While she is there she falls in love with the son of the family she is staying with . She has a child and passes away. Another boarder takes care of her child as her own for years and years later her daughter , Annie finds out about her royal birthright.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC for my honest opinion.

All hail Danielle Steel! “Royal” is an amazing tale
of love, loss, family, passion and commitment. When you are presented with a chance to find happiness and follows your dreams - take it! This novel is a well written saga of a royal family crossing several generations. There are references to actual history events that make this novel even more entrancing and hard to put down. This was definitely one of my favorites! I highly recommend. Queen Steel - you have outdid yourself in this story. Bravo!

I've been reading Danielle Steel since I was about 13 years old (more than 20 years ago) & she has never disappointed. History isn't my usual go to book, put I would never pass a chance to read anything by her. She has a brilliant mind that can bring you into her stories as if you are there with her characters. Trust me when I say that you should read anything of hers that you can get your hands on!

As the war rages on in the summer of 1943, causing massive destruction and widespread fear, the King and Queen choose to quietly send their youngest daughter, Princess Charlotte, to live with a trusted noble family in the country. Despite her fiery, headstrong nature, the princess's fragile health poses far too great a risk for her to remain in war-torn London.

Third in line for the throne, seventeen year-old Charlotte reluctantly uses an alias upon her arrival in Yorkshire, her two guardians the only keepers of her true identity. In time, she settles comfortably into a life out of the spotlight, befriending a young evacuee and training with her cherished horse. But no one predicts that in the coming months she will fall deeply in love with her protectors' son.

She longs for a normal life. Far from her parents, a tragic turn of events leaves an infant orphaned. Alone in the world, that child will be raised in the most humble circumstances by a modest stable manager and his wife. No one, not even she, knows of her lineage. But when a stack of hidden letters comes to light, a secret kept for nearly two decades finally surfaces, and a long lost princess emerges.

I'm not sure if Danielle Steel has always written this terribly, if she's phoning it in as she gets older, or if someone is ghostwriting terribly for her. The premise of this book sounds fun: a long-lost princess is reunited with her royal family. However, the writing is hardly better than a student essay with redundant passages that only serve to add to the word count. I have admittedly read very little of Steel's work, but I have to believe it used to be well-written for her to establish such an avid fan base.

Danielle Steel has written a book that captures the spirit of royal life. It’s an epic story of WWII and how the Royal family in England had to make difficult decisions regarding their youngest daughter, Charlotte. Charlotte had asthma and the war was causing an unhealthy environment for the child. She was having a lot asthma attacks and they had to consider if sending her to the country would be best. There are several twists and turns in this book and it kept my attention the entire time. I found this to be a very moving and inspirational story about love, family, and friendships. The story is beautifully well written and I just loved the characters so much through their journeys.

I loved this book! I'm a historical fiction fan, and I enjoy reading about the Royals, and this book met and exceeded my expectations. A compelling story with well-written characters made it a hard-to-put-down book. I highly recommend this one, 5 stars.

Another Danielle Steel win...combined with Royals and this book is perfect for me!

Princess Charlotte is sent to live in the Country during World War II with a family where only the mother & father know her true identity. As she settles into life on the farm and becomes active with the horses on the property, she catches the attention of the son of her caregivers. When he is sent to war, life changes forever for Princess Charlotte.

I have read a lot of Danielle Steel’s book and this one was just ok to me. The problem I find with her books is there isn’t much interaction with the characters. It’s more her just telling the story. I liked the plot of the story with the Windsor’s of Buckingham Palace. I feel like it took me longer to read because it dragged on.

I’m glad I read this and will still read more of her books.

This is one of those crazy preposterous Danielle Steel books that is both ridiculous and absolutely addicting at the same time. I read it in one sitting. One of those stories where the most unbelievable things happen yet it always works out in the end. I did find myself wanting to yell “I’m the lost princess”’many times while reading the book ; ) In all seriousness though, I thought Annie was a great character and I think this is the first Danielle Steel book I have read where no one has an affair which was refreshing. I love stories about the Royals, so this was a great quick read to give me my royal fix.

Danielle Steels latest family drama Royal is a solid 4 star read. I’m not a fan of historical fiction, but I devoured this story. Set during war times, the story follows the Royal family and the steps they take to keep their youngest daughter, Charlotte safe. The story spans 27 years and follows the family and its aires through the years that follow the war. Royal is engaging, well written and heartfelt.

I used to read all of Danielle Steel’s books. My Mom loved her, and we had shelves filled with her books. I stopped reading them when I felt like it was the same story over and over, just different names. “Royal” felt like that. Ms. Steel’s plots are predictable, but with this one she chose to use the British Royal Family as her main characters.

Ms. Steel did change names and circumstances around enough to not make her characters exactly like the real royal family, but close enough. What bugged me was the contrived circumstances she created to start the story off. The King and Queen sending their youngest daughter to stay in the country with a penniless Earl in York, with no servants, no ladies maid, no chaperone, nothing. That would not have happened. They would have sent her to one of their castles (like the real royal family did during the war), or let’s just say they didn’t, she wouldn’t have gone without a maid, a body guard, something. But ok, if you can get past that part of the book, and just push the “I believe” button, it’s an ok story.

Like I said, predictable. It reminded me why I stopped reading Danielle Steel novels. I’m sure her fans will love it.

4 1/2 STARS!

An awe inspiring story of strength and sacrifice! While not nearly as easy to emotionally connect with as your typical Danielle Steel novel, ROYAL was fast paced, plot intensive and simply delightful. I loved it!

Seventeen year old Princess Charlotte was too ill to be around the bombing aspects of the war in London so the youngest child of the ruling King of England was sent to live in the countryside of Yorkshire for a year. While there, she fell in love with the son of her caretakers.

Destiny leaves behind a child who is raised as a commoner with no trail left of the royal lineage she carries. Fate brings the truth to the surface after nearly two decades and the knowledge of the lost princess is shared with the royal family, and the story plays out the details of their reunion.

I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a royal family saga with hints of romance.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I am not a big history person but still wanted to give this book a try as I normally enjoy a book by this author. I did enjoy the beginning of the book even though there were so many tragedies but I just lost interest. I felt like there were alot of things that were so repetitious and I also felt like the timeframe was a little crazy where it would be a few day and then all of a sudden, years.

I love reading Danielle's books and I'm definitely a fan of hers.
I love the way she combines historical fiction with romance and I also love anything British Royalty related.
This book was a great combination of all and of course the strong female protagonist.
You'll have to read to find out if she gets her fairytale!

Royal took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and had me breaking out the Kleenex. This story spans generations of a Royal family taking us from World War II through the 70's. As always with a Danielle Steel novel, the writing is well done, descriptive and captivating and the characters are likable and well developed. I have read many books by this author and this is a definite must read just like the others.

It is 1943, and war is ravaging England. The King and Queen send their youngest daughter, Charlotte, to stay with friends in the country in order to keep her safe. The trusted friends tell no one of Charlotte's identity, not even their son or servants. A series of events unfolds that will eventually surprise the world.

This is a classic Danielle Steel novel which is a combination of tragedy, fairy tale, and love story. The royal family in question is fictional, and some may not like that, but I love it. It gives the author more license with the royal characters and their personalities. The world of horses and horse racing is also involved in an interesting way.

Reality has to be suspended a little, as in most Steel novels, and history is rewritten a bit, but this is a satisfying escape of a novel, and the kind we all want to indulge in from time to time.

Danielle Steel's million of fans will love this one, as will anyone who enjoys stories about horses and horse racing.

I received a free digital copy of this book from the publishers and Netgalley. My review is voluntary.

When I first started this book, I thought it was just going to be a fictionalized Royals novel. I was half right. It has lots of similarities with the current British Royals, but it has so much more!

I refuse to give away anything, but in this book the Royals have a deep dark secret that they don't even know about! The story begins during WWII and moves through to current times. The characters were realistic and I developed a bookish relationship with them. There were a few surprises along the way, but most of it read like the Danielle Steel novel I've come to know.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book. It is highly recommended both for Danielle Steel fans and for Royal fans!

I want to start by saying that I hate that I am giving such a low star review to a Danielle Steel book. I have always LOVED her work! Unfortunately, this book read more like a biography than a fictional novel. I found it was impossible to get lost in its pages. The storyline moved quickly, but yet didn't seem to really move along. Each time a new idea was provided, it was re-described from every possible angle for the next several pages (complete with reasons and justifications for the persons feelings, and all the ways that others may view the circumstances). The reader was not given the credit to be smart enough to follow along with the story without a ridiculous amount of explanation for every little thought or feeling presented. The book would jump many years at a time, which was the only way that it moved along quickly. Yet, none of the characters were given any real level of depth. I did not ever feel like I fully entered the story...like I was present within the pages. I am deeply disappointed in this. I truly feel saddened writing this review. If I hadn't promised net galley to give my honest review for every book they allow me to read, I wouldn't have submitted a review at all...

Editing and grammar were very good. This always matters to me. The best of stories can get weighted down with bad editing.
