A great round up of titles. Under the Same Sky is one that I was particularly drawn to and chose as a book club book title. A beautifully told tale of friendship from different worlds with sensitively drawn illustrations.

123 Tea Party

If you have a little girl who loves tea parties, I am 100% certain they will love 123 Tea Party. This is such a cute and simple counting book, with amazing illustrations. A fox is having a tea party, so they are setting up everything they need. They set up 1 table cloth, 2 jugs of cream, 3 jars of jam, and so on until 10. I love how big the number is on the page, so children can easily identify and trace the number. After counting to 10, there are pages that ask “How many teapots?” so the child has to count how many they see on the page as well as pages with addition and subtraction. Overall, I think this is a cute book for any young girl between the ages of 0 and 6, and it is a great book to introduce math and counting.

A Home For Luna

A Home for Luna begins with Luna the cat washing up on a shore because she left her old home, which wasn’t safe. She watches some penguins fishing and eating until one named Tiny gives her a shellfish. Slowly, she starts to catch fish with the penguins and pouncing at gulls trying to steal their food. Every day she gets closer to the penguins and joins their huddle. One day, a boat arrives, and the fisherman tries to take Luna away because he doesn’t think it is a good place for a cat. The penguins and Luna attack the fisherman until he leaves, and all is well because Luna found a home with the penguins. While this wasn’t my favorite children’s book, it was still a good book to read. I liked how you wouldn’t think a cat and penguins would become friends; however, Luna made a home with them.

Bear Was There

I have to say that Bear Was There was a really cute book. I loved how the authors included different feelings throughout the book about being loved, happy, and scarred. Throughout Mouses’ childhood, his mother always warned him about Bear and how he should always be careful because he would be around. When Mouse was old enough to be on his own, one day he saw Bear, but Bear didn’t seem as scary as what he thought. When Mouse needed a safe place during a winter storm, Bear lead him to his cave, and they became great friends. I love how the message from this story is to not judge someone before you even meet them. Bear was judged before Mouse even knew who he was; however, Bear was nothing like what Mouse and his mother thought he would be like. Bear was kind and loved Mouse, not out to get him. I would recommend this book for children ages 0 to 6 because it is a great story and has a great message.

Boo Loves Books

Boo Loves Books was a really cute book. Phoebe is a girl who does not like to read. She is scared to read out loud, and when her teacher, Mrs.Spinelli announces to the class that they were reading somewhere special the next day, Phoebe tried to fake that she was sick. They ended up taking a field trip to an animal shelter, where the children read to dogs. At first, Phoebe was a little hesitant; however, she opened up after a while and loved reading to Big Boo. She didn’t care if she messed up at all. This book is great if you have a reader that is worried that they might say something wrong. It shows how it is normal for children to not get the words right 100% of the time, but a book can still be enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to any child learning how to read.

How to Be a Bug Warrior

I thought the information in How to Be a Bug Warrior was very useful. I liked how it talked about how viruses spread, and how to prevent them from spreading. I think that is very important for children to understand. I feel like this book could have been delivered in a better way; however, I still think it was a good, informative book. I liked the use of dinosaurs and think that it is interesting for a child to read about them. The illustrations were good, and the quiz at the end of the book was a good addition. Overall, I think this is a useful book to help talk about viruses and preventing sickness.

The ABC of Musical Instruments

I am definitely going to be buying The ABC of Musical Instruments. While it was very short, just saying “X is for Xylophone,” I think this is the perfect book to introduce musical instruments to a baby or toddler. It is also a great way to include the ABC’s. I liked how there was an animal on each page with the letter and instrument, and the pictures corresponded with the next letter on the same page. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to get a physical copy for my son to read.

Under The Same Sky

I’m not sure if I really understand this book. It was about two kids on the opposite side of the planet because it is morning for one of them, and night time for the other. However, I just don’t get the meaning behind the text. Maybe some people would like this book, but it just wasn’t for me.

I already ordered several books from this sampler to add to our library's collection. The 123 Tea Party board book and the ABC of Musical Instruments are both beautiful and simple for little ones to enjoy!

1 2 3 Tea Party - This book is absolutely perfect for young readers learning their numbers! It has beautiful, engaging illustrations, and fun little math problems at the end - that involve cake! Always a plus when doing math..

A Home for Luna - Although a very cute story, it made me sort of sad! I still enjoyed it however. I was happy that Luna found a new home, but I felt bad that she lost her first. Cute story and illustrations.

Bear was There - This one was so perfect. I loved the message of love, right from the very start of Mouse's life. And I relate to that mom Mouse very well! Super cute.

Bo Loves Books - This book. I loved it so much! My husband is dyslexic and we have talked so many times about his struggles in school with reading; I was always an advanced reader and I can remember feeling so bad for the students who struggled - and when the teacher made them read out loud to the class, I wanted to rescue them! If only we would have had a program like this when we were students- what a wonderful confidence builder. Love the illustrations, and the happy ending - for everyone! I will most definitely be adding this to our home collection.

How to be a Bug Warrior - Another book that we will purchase. This book approaches the seriousness of the current pandemic in an easy to understand way for children, without being too scary yet still stressing the importance of wearing a mask and hand washing. Such an important book for these times.

The ABC of of Musical Instruments - Oh would my own little music lover love this book! Definitely one I am adding to our homeschool reading line up!

Under the Same Sky - A great story to show that you can be separated from friends or family and still know that you are under the same sky, and there are ways to stay in touch. Beautiful and poetic, with gorgeous illustrations.

“1 2 3 Tea Party” had me counting along with fox. It was a fun tea party! The numbers were represented by things one would find at a tea party. The illustration are lovely with their pastel colors. “Bear was there” is a story of a baby mouse who feels his mother’s love also feels safe. As mouse grows up, his mother warns about bear. When mouse becomes an adult, he goes out to the forest to find a home. He does. One day he runs into bear. What will bear do? The story is delightful and has beautiful illustrations. The other books in this sampler are delightful, educational and fun. They are a treasure to read. In this sampler, one book “How to be a bug warrior” one learns how to wash your hands more. It is a very appropriate book for this present time with the corona flu.

Don’t miss out on reading these books! I know I am much richer for reading these books.

I very much enjoyed this set of books! I teach at a preschool,, and immediately saw great ways to fit these books into our pre-K and Kindergarten curriculums.

I am especially excited about the story of the dinosaur classmates who wear masks in the book ‘How to be a Virus Warrior’ Such a timely addition to a younger curriculum. I also have quite a few children who have parents deployed, and like the story ‘Under the Same Sky‘ to help teach about not only how we are all similar but that our mommies and daddies are not so very far away when under the same sky!

This set of books are very fun ways to broach a number of different topics that I don’t currently see many children’s books tackle!

I received an advance copy of this set of books in exchange for an honest review.

The sampler is so good, I wish I could become a full-time reviewer of children's books.
The titles and the covers featured in the sampler are quite attractive and I will recommend all the books when they are published. Actually, I will recommend them now to get the word out.
Thanks to NetGalley and New Frontier for the sampler.

123 Tear Party -- **** Adorable counting board book! Beautiful illustrations. Had fun little math problems in the back of the book!

A Home for Luna -- ***** Wonderful book! I loved all the vocabulary used. The words just rolled off my tongue as I read. It was wonderful that Luna and the penguins, though different, made a home together. Great story.

Bear was There -- ***** Such a poignant book at this moment in our history. Yes, our parents may have bias but we do not have to adhere to them. Just because you are told someone is scary, it is up to you to din out. I enjoyed the message in this book.

Bo Loves Books -- **** Such a sweet book about a girl who has anxiety over reading out loud. She reads to a dog and they both help each other overcome fears. This was a wonderful book and I loved that it touched on animal adoption too.

How to be a Bug Warrior -- ****As far as a children's book goes this is wonderful at explaining the importance of proper hand hygiene and how to reduce your risk for getting sick. With the coronavirus going around it is important that we educate children with scaring them. Well done with this book. Cute dino illustrations.

ABC of Musical Instruments -- ***Adorable book with wonderful illustrations. I love that it included instruments from all over the world. However this book wouldn't be something that I am drawn to, because I am not a "musical" person. The book is definitely done well, just a niche market.

Under the Same Sky -- *** This is a sweet story of two children longing for friendship from the opposite ends of the world. Chance happening they become connected. It is a nice, simple story with beautiful illustrations.

This was a great sampler of 7 upcoming children's books. It has everything- numbers, letters, dogs, cats, bears, friends, and even Covid 19. I really liked that '123 teaparty' included math problems at the end. 'Boo loves books' was just so cute. 'How to be a bug warriors is a book we definitely need right now. It teaches the importance of making sure we stay safe in this covid era.

1,2,3 Tea Party - We loved that this book was so much more than a number book. It had 1-10, in lovely tea party pieces, but also had Maths, at the end, and gave Ada a chance to use her numbers to count all the items, at the tea party. It is lovely and bright, and has great illustrations. The perfect book for starting children on their number journey.

A Home for Luna - A brilliant little book that teaches the story about a home not always being where you think it is. Luna feels lost alone, but the story shows us that you can face your fears and make friends, and sometimes you can find they become your home and the ones you love, just like moving home, which we are facing. The illustrations are lovely and soft.

Bear was There - Absolutely a favourite for both Ada and myself. We loved that everyone is always afraid of Bear, but little Mouse showed that sometimes people/animals aren’t always what you are told they are. Sometimes, you need to give them a chance yourself because they might be just as scared and along, and will provide a friendship you never thought possible. It is a beautiful story and has illustrations to match.

Boo Loves Books - With reading being such a tricky feat to master, it was lovely to read a story about someone who is struggling and the comfort they can gain by making a friend, who is there to listen and love. Plus, Ada absolutely loves dogs, so this was the perfect book for her as well.

How to be a Virus Warrior - A very special book, with everything that is going on. This is the perfect book for showing kids why it is important to look out for your health, like wearing your mask, washing your hands and how to sneeze. It also mentions Covid 19, so is the perfect book for approaching the subject with your children, especially as they go to start schooling again. We highly recommend this book.

A,B,Cs of Musical Instruments - A Very Sweet book to help little ones learn their words. It has great illustrations and a mix of instruments, from all over the world, which is great. We had fun reading it and then looking at songs that used the instruments.

Under the Same Sky - A very lovely story, with wonderful illustrations, about two friends, who are separated by a large distance, who take the time to send each other little gifts, to show they care, and brighten each other’s days. It was a nice story and we really liked it.
