This book was a great palate cleanser when you've been reading a lot of psychological thrillers. It's basically just a brief glimpse into the lives of some quirky people. Not a lot of romance or drama or mysteries to be solved- just some people who make strange decisions and/or have strange hobbies- kind of like everyone you know.

I'm always curious to the lives of neighbors and this book is like opening every front door on your street and letting the secrets spill out. Following several households in the well-to-do neighborhood of Cobble Hill in Brooklyn, you'll see how intertwined we all become when living in a small community. Whether the characters liked it or not, they found themselves knowing a little too much about each other and getting deeply intertwined in their business. Just goes to show that we've all got our issues no matter how beautiful our brownstone is. I really enjoyed the easiness of this read. Although there are a ton of characters to follow you end up wanting to see where life takes them and quickly get invested into their trials and tribulations. To me, this type of plot is like what a beach read turns into once autumn starts. It's a little gossipy, a little fluffy, but still has enough depth to keep you interested. With the new school year plot and images of NYC in fall I think it's best read on those crisp fall days where you can mentally teleport alongside the characters.

I love the diversity of the cast of characters. Being a fly on the wall in the lives of those who inhabit Cobble Hill was a memorable experience. This book was witty and dramatic. If you loved the Gossip Girl series, don’t miss this one!

I never read the "Gossip Girl" series but I loved the show in my teen years, so when I heard Cecily vo Ziegesar was back with a new novel I was excited to give it a try.

This novel focuses on 4 families all of whom are a bit dysfunctional, who have secrets, and are all connected in some way. Like "Gossip Girl", "Cobble Hill" takes place in New York and focuses on the lives of the wealthy. There is a famous author, an artist, an inventor, a musician, model, school nurse, teens, and a pyromaniac to name a few. The characters are interesting but I wouldn't say that I liked any of them. Their motivations and personalities were hard for me to connect with. They make questionable decisions and their morals are sort of all over the place.

The novel doesn't have a lot of things going on in the plot, so if you like fast paced action, this is not your kind of book. It is mostly about the people and their relationships between each other. The events and drama of the book are still engaging to read about, and I laughed out loud at some parts, but they don't necessarily move the plot forward, they just add to the character study. As well, the book doesn't have much of an ending. I found it abrupt and left some loose ends. It did not exactly wrap up nicely.

"Cobble Hill" was a quick read and packs in a lot of drama for a book around 300 pages. It was just okay for me though.

This was an entertaining book about what happens in the lives of a group of neighbors over the course of a year. But I kept waiting for something bigger to happen to really tie everything together. It was a fun distraction but there was nothing particularly outstanding about it. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC.

🌻 REVIEW🌻 Cobble Hill

Cobble Hill is perfect for fall! Cobble Hill is an exclusive neighborhood in Brooklyn home to many eccentrics (and famous individuals). This charming book follows the individual families and shows how their lives are interwoven because of proximity. However, one event in particular brings them all even closer.

This book would make a great movie! I loved the neighborhood dynamics and collection of characters, each made the story more compelling. It’s a beautiful reminder that home is not always a physical place but the people surrounding you.

Cobble Hill is charming and fun and perfect for the changing of seasons! I am sure this one will climb to the top of the bestseller lists!

This book is coming ✨November 10✨

🌻🌻🌻🌻/5

I would read any book based in nyc. proud New Yorker over here ! I didn’t read the gossip girls books, but I did watch the show and LOVED it! With that said , I was super excited for this book. The story is based in cobble hills and told from multiple POV, but I had no issue keeping track of them because they were all so different .. we get to peek into the lives of four neighborhood couple and their children, as they navigate life’s ups and down .
.
The characters were all pretty weird , but we’re all a bit quirky which is fine, it just that they are all so unlikeable . I couldn’t connects with them, which effect my overall feeling of this story . It wasn’t my favorite , but there were some thing I love about it. I really enjoyed how the characters came together and form a community of friends, This story was well written and did a great job of character development , but it was quite uneventful . I was hoping for more and was a bit disappointed !

The cover and title of this book drew me in right away! The description was promising, too. Unfortunately, it was a struggle to finish the story in the end. There was very little that made the characters enjoyable to read about. I am a fan of character-driven novels; I don't need a dramatic plot to be entertained. This story, however, fell flat for me.

This was a fun and quick read. There's drama, intrigue, and lots of quirky characters abound. Admittedly it's nothing world-changing, but it is fun and light for an easy read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was set in Brooklyn and follows along the lives of a bunch of quirky neighbors in the neighborhood of Cobble Hill. The neighbors are all basically strangers at first. Each neighbor has their own set of small secrets and as they get to know one another on a more intimate level, the cracks in each other’s families begin to show and the secrets they all keep threaten to spill out. Will the new community and friendships that are formed ruin everything or will everyone come together as one big family? This book kept me up all night to find out.

I was excited to read this because my husband's grandmother lived near Cobble Hill and we visited the area many times.

I'm starting to think thought that you either like von Ziegesar's style or you don't.. I might be someone who doesn't. I thought the show, Gossip Girl, was much better than the books which focused too much on Jenny's breasts and switched topics and perspectives in a stilted way and she sort of continues that in Cobble Hill. The details she focuses on are odd and distract from the storyline which was very '90s rom-com.

Maybe it's time for her to start writing about people her own age and issues that affect them.

Cobble Hill is a quirky novel about families. Cecily von Ziegesar has written a character driven novel and certainly nailed their lives well. However, I personally found the book to be lacking a plot which is something I need in my reads. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy character studies but this was that and nothing else.

Having lived in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn for three years, I found this to be a really nostalgic read! So many of the specific references that the author used hit very close to home, and since I no longer live in New York, it was a lot of fun to come back to those references. It was also fun to experience this author's voice in a book written for adults! I found some of the characters to be a bit confusing, but by and large, I would recommend this to readers who are familiar with New York and Brooklyn, who are looking for a fun fall read.

This book was a fun romp through a Brooklyn neighborhood filled with seriously quirky people. Think Notting Hill but Brooklyn, with a sprinkling of marijuana to make everyone just a little bit quirkier.

Unfortunately, I put this book down. I couldn’t get into it. I couldn’t really understand the flow of the characters or what the book was going to be about the first few chapters in.
The characters were a bit dull to me and I didn’t want to keep reading.

What can I say... I love Gossip Girl and I live for rich Brooklyn gossip, so this was a pleasure. Was it ground breaking? Nah. Will it stick with me? No. Did I blast through it a couple of days? Yes. Yes I did.

This is definitely an adult version of Gossip Girl and I ate it up! It’s a very lighthearted family drama centered around 4 couples and their kids who live in the small community of Cobble Hill, a Brooklyn suburb. Each of the 8 adults (and their children) have some kind of vice or quirk and they way the story shifts between all the characters kept things interesting, since we were following several different storylines, but they do intersect in parts where the adults meet each other. A perfect fun fall read!

I was greatly looking forward to Cobble Hill, especially because I absolutely loved the Gossip Girl series growing up. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this reading experience. By the end of the novel, I found myself thinking, "What was the point of all of those characters?"
