This was an interesting read. These were definitely characters that are not like myself, but I am not sure that I could envision the life they live either. I did like to see how they all came together as a community even though they were not necessarily people that would be friends otherwise. One of those books where you see how "the other half lives" as we heard a lot growing up.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.

I loved this book, in the same way that I loved the Robert Altman film, Short Cuts. Both show us the lives of multiple characters and we can see how their lives overlap. This was incredibly well written and was very entertaining.

Von Ziegsar does what she does best by bringing to life a fun setting. This posh neighborhood is a character in itself and similar to Fitzgerald, she’s a pro at making readers fall in love with her NY settings. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the lack of plot development does keep it a little unfocused. Even the “big ending” can’t save that, but overall, this was a really enjoyable read and for anyone who grew up on Gossip Girl, you won’t be disappointed.

Neighbors with secrets are the basis for Cecily VonZiegesar’s adult novel Cobble Hill. The loosely-connected relationships of Brooklyn neighbors keep the story moving forward, slowly revealing more about each of the interesting individuals that make up the neighborhood.

As someone who read each and every Gossip Girl book, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this novel. It’s certainly a different set than the Serena and Blair’s group, but nevertheless, it was a reminder that even adults have messy problems.

I normally hate books about nothing (that is, books that don't have a clearly defined plot), but for some reason, I enjoyed this one! The characters are SO quirky that you just can't look away, lest you miss whatever shenanigans they get up to next. The author does a really good job of making the setting of this posh neighborhood come to life, and it will probably be a hit for adults like me who grew up on Gossip Girl.

Being a huge fan of Gossip Girl, I was excited to have the chance to read this early copy from @netgalley by the same author. I must admit I haven’t read the book Gossip Girl and I’m basing my fandom only on the TV series. This novel was easy to imagine as a screenplay and featured a large cast of characters. Some sections were disjointed and I wonder if this will be corrected before publication this fall. Or maybe this #kindlebook version wasn’t formatted right. I enjoy almost all books that feature #NYC as one of the characters and it was great to spend some time in #cobblehillbrooklyn. A ⭐️⭐️⭐️ book that will be great to read this fall and escape to a world before #covid19. It would be interesting to read a sequel that follows the characters through the #coronaquarantine2020. 📚📚📚 #netgalleyreads #netgalleyreview #gossipgirl #booklover #bookreview #bookrecommendations

It’ll take me a while to decide how I actually feel about this one probably. When I got the email to download this, I started reading the book that same night. I couldn’t wait to see what Cecily von Ziegesar would do years and years after GOSSIP GIRL. It still has some of the classic NYC feels, rich people doing dumb things, etc, but it’s a very different book/vibe overall.

It’s a slice of life over the course of a year for a few families in the Cobble Hill, Brooklyn neighborhood. They are all very weird and have different dynamics but grow to know one another and develop interesting relationships. The narration wove in between people's heads without warning, which was not as confusing as I thought it would be. I loved being able to get inside everyone's heads.

This book really didn’t have anything happening in it and the “big ending” from the synopsis isn’t totally there, IMO. It really just came to an end after spending time with a birds' eye view into people's lives. If you don't like character-driven stories and need plot, skip this one.

I was always intrigued while reading (even when it felt pointless) and I like her writing style a lot. I truly don't think this book had a point but it was a quick read that kept moving for me. Who knows if my rating will stand because this is a book you could easily two-star or four-star. I don't even want to recommend it to anyone in particular because it's such an odd book.

If you grew up with Gossip Girl, the books or the TV shows you are ready to level up to the adult versions of those stories. If you're more interested about the storylines of parents on the CW shows than the teenagers then you are ready for the newest book by Cecily von Ziegesar. Cobble Hill follows some of the quirkiest adults living in Brooklyn.
This book's insanity is the perfect antidote to the insanity constantly streaming on the news and our phones and the characters are interesting and complex and left me wanting more. This isn't your average chick-lit. I don't read a lot of books like this, but I was captivated and the pacing proved vital to keeping the story going.

Cecily von Ziegesar of Gossip Girl fame moves from the Upper East Side to Brooklyn in this entertaining novel featuring a diverse group of characters who all live in the same Cobble Hill neighborhood.Nurse Peaches is definitely one of the most interesting nurse characters I have ever read. From picking nits out of a former rock and roll star's hair (who also was one of her old crushes), to procuring weed for said rock and roll star's wife who may or may not have a debilitating disease to tending bar and playing the drums in the neighborhood bar that's not really a bar, owned by an eccentric artist, Nurse Peaches does a lot more than bandage elementary school knees and elbows. This gives you a little taste of the kinds of characters you will meet in Cobble Hill. I thought this book was rich and interesting, albeit sometimes a little hard to follow with all the different changing point of views.

Having previously read the Gossip Girl series during my teenage years, I was excited to read Cobble Hill. This book was quirky, but enjoyable. The reader is quickly introduced to a cast of characters whose lives intersect through living in the same Brooklyn neighborhood. While I enjoyed the extensive background we received on each character, the narrative arc felt a little flat and I was left wondering what I had spent 300+ pages reading. Nevertheless, I live in a neighborhood adjacent to Cobble Hill so I appreciated the "local" flavor von Ziegesar wove into the book as well as accurately portraying the eccentricity of some Brooklynites.
Thank you for this ARC.

If the iconic show Thirtysomething is ever rebooted, they should use Cecily von Ziegesar's Cobble Hill as the basis for it. It's witty and super fun to read. It very much captures the feel of the small Brooklyn neighborhood and interweaves the characters lives flawlessly as the interact with each other in their day-to-day lives. This isn't a high drama book like her beloved Gossip Girl series; it's more of a what life looks like when the wild party days are over but readers will still enjoy getting to know these characters as they navigate their lives.

Not sure how to describe this book, but I really enjoyed it. A neighborhood of wacky and weird people somehow completely sucked me in! I loved the way they all ended up tied together to wrap up the story. A quick, fun read!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I did not read Von Ziegesar's Gossip Girl series so this was my first time reading her work. Its a story all about four families who live in Cobbile Hill, a Brooklyn neighborhood. They all share a common goal of searching for their purpose in their life and that fits into their current one. Definitely recommend.

Strange but entertaining. I loved the setting and the characters. There were many characters but all felt fully formed to me. The ending was strange and felt like something was missing but I really liked it overall.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC ebook. I wanted to read this because I am a big Gossip Girl fan, but this one fell flat for me. I really thought I would enjoy it, as I am married and in this age group in the book but it just didn't do it for me.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. As a fan of Gossip Girl, I had to read the author's new book. However, this was nor Gossip Girl, but a story about the families in Cobble Hill and how they all have their own neurocies. Overall this was a decent short read.

A slice of modern American life in a small neighborhood in Brooklyn New York, which just might make you realize you’re not doing so badly after all. Perfect for fans of stories with a large cast of characters, such as the movie “Love Actually” or the novels by Maeve Bincy.

We meet four families who begin the novel as strangers, but become close, although imperfect, friends by the end of the tale. We meet famous novelist, Roy, who is struggling with a six-year dry spell, his wife Wendy who is not sure what is expected of her at her fancy new job, and their teenage daughter, Shy, who has a concerning crush on her Latin teacher and is failing all of her classes but Latin. There’s Stuart the former rock star, whose wife Mandy has lost her zeal for life and fakes a serious illness, and their grade schooler Ted who becomes fascinated with fire. We also meet the vivacious, school nurse Peaches who attracts the attention of both Roy and Stuart, her musician husband Greg, and their teenage son Liam who has a serious crush on Shy.

Lastly, there’s the awkward genius Tupper and his elusive, artist wife Elizabeth.
Quirky situations ensue, the characters cross paths in unusual ways, and secrets start to unfold as the neighbors’ circles tighten, and the various storylines move toward explosive conclusions. The large cast of personalities is at times a bit hard to keep track of. And while each individual character’s list of faults can be tiresome, it can’t be argued that the novel accurately captures the issues and struggles of modern, American, city life. The book is likely to be a huge hit with fans of “real”, if perhaps a bit gritty, fictional characters.

Fun! Filled with weird, quirky characters, I really enjoyed this.

It’s a change of pace from my recent reading list.

Some of the characters were...not good people. Does it take away from the story? Maybe slightly.

Regardless, I found it readable. I liked the intersecting families.

It was an entertaining read, albeit with a little less umph than her Gossip Girl series. I did enjoy the format as it makes the book flow fairly well. Character development was a little less "fleshed out" for my taste. I honestly put it down for a week and came back to it. Worth the read if you like to venture into the world of excess and rich people.

Cobble Hill was a really fun, laugh out loud read. I especially enjoyed this book because of the setting- I used to live outside of NYC so I felt close to the location. I liked all the varied characters and the humor in the book was great. Thanks to Simon and Schuster, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
