Received a copy of this book for review. Overall it is a good read for me. Love the chemistry between the main characters. Love all the characters. What I love is that each of them does make a difference to the story as it developed. Like to read how the characters In the story are interrelated to each other. It make the story more exciting to read. The setting of the story is nice and is fit nicely to the story.Story plot are well penned out, with a slight twist to it in the end
ue Moorcroft is always my go to when I want a good Christmas read and 'Christmas Wishes' did not disappoint. I love the fact that there are recurring characters and that Middledip is always at the centre of the action.
Hannah runs her own boutique shop in Stockholm and is in the middle of the breakup of a very toxic relationship but fate seems to step in when her brother's childhood best friend, Nico, turns up at her shop just as things with her boyfriend start to go really downhill. As she returns to Middledip, to help look after her Gran, her relationship with Nico starts to intensify. But the path of true love is never that easy and soon Hannah and Nico have a lot of obstacles thrust in their way including Nico's previous eating disorder and his alcoholic ex wife. Will their relationship ever take off the ground?
Hannah and Nico were both extremely likeable. Nico really did a hold a place in my heart due to the relationship he had with daughter, Josie, and her step sister, Maria. Their ups and downs had me truly upset for them when things were difficult.
This is a lovely read and it has a lovely Christmas spirit running through it. I cannot wait til next year's offering.
Fabulous Christmas book set between Stockholm and Middledip.
I loved the relationships between the characters even the troubling relationiship of Albin and Hannah, each character was well written and made me feel a part of their lives.
I enjoyed the contrast of the traditions between each country, and even learnt something about how the Swedes celebrate Christmas.
Thanks for a fantastic book!
This is one of my favourite Christmas books. It's always a joy to return to the lovely village of Middledip and the location of Stockholm is equally gorgeous. The development of the relationship between Hannah and Nico is a thing of beauty and although painful at times, you are compelled to keep reading to its conclusion. Definitely one to ask for in your stocking.
Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book
I am a fan of Sue Moorcroft lovely books. Christmas Wishes is a fell-good Christmas story that also incorporates some heavy subjects. A light story but also thought-provoking.
Trigger warning: Eating disorders
I really enjoyed this. Yes, it’s a lovely romantic seasonal story, but it also incorporates some really hard hitting topics that elevate it beyond the genre and make it much more meaty and thought provoking.
Despite Christmas being in the title, this book provided so much more than a festive dialogue. That was put on the back burner as far as the story goes as the stories of Hannah and Nico lives take over. I enjoyed this book and found both characters to have a certain depth to their backgrounds. It covers topics that may be upsetting to some readers but without going into too much detail. Overall this book leaves you with a warm feeling and a sense of love and family, whatever guise that may take.
Thanks to Netgalley and Sue Moorcroft for the e book copy.
Always a big fan of Sue's books and this was no different! Brilliant characters - who can resist a wonderful caring chap like Nico!? Certainly not me.
Well written, magical and yet still real.
I normally love Sue Moorcroft but unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book. I found the talk about eating disorders really triggering and distressing. Had I known it would be such a key part of the book I wouldn't have read it and so I feel the blurb should have contained that information for reader self-care.
A feel good festive read that will make you want to snuggle you up with a blanket and a cuppa before devouring the pages of this book.
What a lovely read! Great characters and the story sum’s up a nice Christmas cosy read perfectly.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
The whole novel. somehow added to the glitter and magic of Christmas. Snuggle up with a hot drink and enjoy this feel good story!
There is never a bad time to read a Christmas novel! This one is great for cold winter nights snuggled up by the sofa.
It’s a real feel good read, a movie in a book. The type that has you smiling as you turn pages and warming the heart.
Thoroughly enjoyed.
I love a good Hallmark movie in a book! This was such a delight to read and was perfect for the holiday season. The way that Moorcroft has created this amazing magical world during th most magical time of the year just made my heart putter. I loved how realistic this story was while also being something that took me away from real life. I loved the family troubles, and also the pleasant that made it.
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A sweet and fluffy read. The writing is good and the characters are quite enagaging though I was not a fan of Nico.
A good read.
What a wonderful read! Set between Middledip and Stockholm, the story flows naturally. I particularly enjoyed the trips to Stockholm with all the details about the setting and customs. Hannah finds herself back in Middledip looking after her nan who has a perceptive mind and lots of common sense. The story centres around the relationship between Hannah and Nico who is a far from a straightforward proposition. This is very detailed story with lots going on and plenty of characters to meet. It also has some serious underlying issues, such as parental neglect and takes a look at what it means to be in a family. A super read with some festive touches thrown in.
Thanks to netgalley for as copy of the book.
This was a darling Christmas read with the perfect amount of feel-good romance. This is definitely the type of read that you will find yourself curled up on the sofa, wrapped up in a blanket, allowing the words to whisk you away to another place and completing in one sitting.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for kindly providing me with a digital copy of this book for review.
I have read Sue Moorcroft before and I really do like her writing style. She develops some lovely and relatable characters that you can’t help but get caught up in their stories and care about them. Even though the two books of hers have been set at Christmas- there is often a gritty underlying storyline that turns her story into that little bit more than a light and fun romance. To be honest, that’s how I prefer my romances - I find them more believable when there’s other life going on around them and not everything always is wonderful and falls into place by magic. Unfortunately for me though, I found parts of this book very difficult to read due to personal family experiences, and therefore it took me some time to get through those bits and my slightly lower rating is due to this reason, and no fault of the book. It was just not quite the right time for me to read this story, and there’s no reason I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
I truly adored this story from beginning to end. The characters were wonderful and so incredibly lovable, the storyline was unique and intriguing and the ending to this story was perfection and heartwarming. A definite must read.
