Complex story full of two sided characters, who are not what they seem. Not really my kind of story. Some twist and turns.

Tabitha Rice disappeared five years earlier, and has never been found. Is she dead or alive? Was it her husband that killed her? Annabella, Tabitha’s best friend, is determined to find out the truth, no matter what it takes.

The story is set in present time and flashes back to the past, building up the story as it progresses.

This book really intrigued me - it rattles along at a good pace, and the characters were interesting. No one is quite who they appear to be at first glance - there are lots of undercurrents and things going on behind the surface, but I found this interesting as how well do you ever really know anybody? I think it’s a good story, and well written, with the way all the threads pull together at the end. I really enjoyed this, and would definitely recommend it and read other books by this author.

Five years after Tabitha Rice goes missing, her best friend Annabella is contacted by award-winning journalist, Kay Robero asking her to participate in a podcast about the case, in hopes of discovering what really happened to Tabby. In Annabella's opinion, it was her husband Rick yet despite the public scrutiny, the police released him and there were no other real leads. Will Annabella finally get the answers she seeks or will what happened to Tabby remain a mystery.

This book was so twisty and delicious, I couldn't put it down. Set in London, the book takes you on a pretty dark ride in discovering what really happened to Tabitha Rice. The book has it all when it comes to suspense and thrill; lies, deceit, plastic surgery, reinvention, red herrings, murder, manipulation, and the like. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was thrown for another loop and was still shocked at the ending as further truths were revealed. Very well done! Do Her No Harm by Naomi Joy is worthy of five stars!

Tabitha Rice went missing without a trace five years ago, an unsolved crime no longer investigated by the police, but her best friend Annabella has never given up hope of discovering what truly happened. Annabella is a complicated character, with many quirks and mental health issues that rule her world, although she does successfully work as a cosmetic nurse, in which she feels it to be a kind of superpower, changing people in such a way to make them like themselves. Annabella is sure that Tabitha’s husband Rick is guilty of foul play, but there is no evidence against him to be found, and Annabella has searched. There is, however, more to this story than meets the eye and Annabella is pulled into a private investigation with Kay, a journalist who suggests that she too is committed to finding out what happened to Tabby in an effort to make her podcast more popular. But as Annabella gets deeper, she discovered not everything as she thought it would be, and then there is the uncomfortable revelation that perhaps Annabella has something to answer for as well. Who is pulling the strings? What is the truth of Tabitha and her life? Did she deserve everything she got or has she simply disappeared without a trace?

This novel jumps from different perspectives both from characters points of view and time frames covered in the story, explaining the back story and history of the characters, making it a book not easily read in fits and starts, but rather a concentrated effort in which to keep the different storylines clear in the mind. It feels somewhat slow at the beginning of the book, but the reader discovers that the back history is a vital part of understanding the motivations of all the characters and their actions. Clever and intriguing, it keeps the reader on the edge of their seat as the major plotline twist is revealed and everything is turned on its head.

The characters are well-drawn; not necessarily likeable, but believable and at times terrifying. The guilt of people for their actions has deep repercussions, the grief of losing a family member perhaps everlasting. The way history is woven together is astonishing as it is as it unravels. Just when you think you have beaten the author to the punch and worked out the story something comes along that leaves you shaken to the core.

At its core, this book is a page-turner and gripping till the end.

This book wasn’t my favorite psychological thriller of late, but it was perfectly serviceable and did the job. The epitome of a three star thriller

I started this book and had a hard time keeping interest because of jumping characters and time frames.
Since the storyline was interesting I kept reading. Needless to say, I couldn't put the book down.
Annabellea searches for her friend that went missing five years ago. Tabby was Annabella's coworker and best friend. When Tabby went missing, Rick; her husband became the primary suspect but no evidence was ever found to arrest or convict him. Annabella was determined to find evidence that He had killed her even though no body was ever found. A great suspenseful read with many twists and turns. Can't wait to see the completely finished product.

I found this book to be quite different in tone and feel from many thrillers I've read, which is a good thing. I liked the multiple POVs from past and present, and the cosmetic treatments setting (which isn't something I know much about, but makes a surprisingly good backdrop to a thriller!). I didn't figure out the truth beforehand, either, so the ending was pleasantly shocking.

I didn't entirely buy the relationship between Rick and Tabby. I couldn't really figure out what kept them together (there's a line in the book that said everything they'd been through brought them closer together, but the nature of that 'everything' made me feel that in reality it would be the opposite). I was also shocked by the act of violence performed by Annabella near the start of the book; she could have killed someone, and yet no one really seems bothered about it. That made me uneasy for a long time, which is a shame, because other than that I had a lot of sympathy for her character.

Overall, an interesting and different book, and I would read others by Naomi Joy.

Do Her No Harm by Naomi Joy is a fast-paced read that pulled me in almost from the very start. I was virtually propelled through the pages and fully absorbed in the mysterious disappearance of Tabitha Rice from the outset.

On August 21, Tabitha Rice goes missing and is presumed to have been murdered. Her husband seems to be the most obvious suspect, but there is no evidence that would link him to the crime. Annabella, Tabitha's best friend, is determined to find out what really happened that fateful day, and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.

Told from alternating perspectives, and with a timeline that shifts between past and present, I was immediately invested in the quest to determine, definitively, what really happened to Tabitha Rice.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Aria for this ARC.

Twisty thriller - a missing person or a murder mystery? This book kept me guessing throughout.

As the book is written from multiple viewpoints and time lines we get to see the characters relationships develop, motives arise and, subsequently, lead to many twists and turns. From page to page you are led to think of different reasons why each character could be hiding something - means, motive, opportunity.

The jumping around between characters and times can get a bit confusing, and I found I sometimes had to check back to who I was reading, but, despite this, the story carries well across this device and it didn't detract from a good read.

Thank you @ariafiction and NetGalley for this ARC, available 20/08/2020

I don't know why, but I really didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I literally couldn't put it down and devoured it all in one sitting. This was indeed a page-turner from the very beginning.
I love a good mystery and I am always fascinated by them when they are to do with someone's friend. The prospect of not really knowing someone as well as you think both terrifies and intrigues me.

So what did I like?
- I liked the multiple perspectives we got as I felt this really worked to enhance the story. I feel like if it was just from Annabella's point of view, we wouldn't have got the level of mystery as we did from reading from the others.
- I didn't expect the ending. Although I could see the clever clues Joy had placed throughout the book, the ending went into a direction I didn't imagine so that, I commend.
- This was equal parts fast-paced and slow-burning. I felt like Joy gave us enough to keep flicking to the next page but didn't dump a load of answers at us.

Overall, I would highly recommend this mystery/thriller to anyone who wants a fun, quick read that grips you with suspense.
4 stars.

On the 21st August Tabitha Rice disappeared without a trace. All the signs point to murder, but no signs point to a murderer. The easiest answer is her husband, Rick. But he protests his innocence and there is little proof he is the murderer.Annabella knows there is more to the story than what the police are telling. Tabitha was her best friend and she vows to uncover the truth.
Thanks to NetGalley and Aria for giving me an advance copy.
