This was a fine ending to the Paradise series. Hilderbrand is adept at making her readers feel connected to the characters and places she writes and this book was no different. The plot was slow at times but overall it was a nice wrap-up.
Thank you to Little, Brown, and Company and Netgalley for my advanced copy of Troubles in Paradise.
I will start off with saying, if you are a fan of Elin Hilderbrand, you will be a fan of the Paradise trilogy.
The beginning of the novel picked up exactly where we left off with the second book in the trilogy. Elin has a way of summarizing prior information without it becoming monotonous. It was the right amount of reminding of what occurred in the first two novels.
My favorite part about the trilogy, including the final novel, is the characters.
All of the characters feel as though they are people you could meet and get to know in your everyday life. You feel for and with them as they navigate through their trials and tribulations and celebrate their victories. I actually find myself a little sad that I will no longer be able to be a part of their story.
[Possible Spoiler] The conclusion to this trilogy wrapped up neatly and left me extremely satisfied. I highly recommend to any fan of Elin’s.
Super satisfying conclusion to this trilogy. Elin Hilderbrand writes characters so well...male, female, and kids alike. Really enjoyed learning about St. Johns and wrapping it up with the hurricane was perfect.
This is the final piece of the Paradise trilogy puzzle and man was I excited for it. But this one fell flat for me.
The whole thing felt rushed. All those various story pieces needed to be ended but everything being wrapped up in a perfect little parcel didn’t seem realistic at all. We went from hating Russ in the second one since he didn’t care that he was married to now seeing was it all was and dang, that really sucks. We got to see Cash be a complete doormat continuously. Irene and Huck work their way through stuff but it wasn’t really working anything. She threw a hissy fit, blamed him for everything but then when she got wind he may be moving on, now she wants him? And Baker, he still annoys me. Haha
I wish this one had been longer. And I wish this one had gotten a lot more focus. I feel like 28 Summers got a lot of the focus and this one was “we need to finish this year so here we have it.”
I am a huge fan of the paradise series and I was so excited to receive an advance copy of this book. It was an interesting and exciting conclusion to this trilogy. I absolutely loved it!
I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I like Elin Hilderbrand and the books she writes. This one was no different. Good cast of characters, good story. Some twists. It did feel a little rushed at the end, but I think it was an appropriate way to wrap up the series.
Overall, it was a good summertime read.
The end to this trilogy was very satisfying. There was tension, romance, beautiful scenery-all elements of a good beach read. Enjoyed the fact that the author introduced a newscaster from a different Nantucket series into the storyline. Seemed like a reward for being a fan.
This was a satisfying conclusion to the Winter in Paradise series. I wasn't particularly enamored with the series in parts 1 and 2, but part 3 just really hit me at the right time. The characters are now dealing with the fallout of what happened, which I found way more interesting than them learning about what happened. They also have finally formed a beautiful community that was great to read about.
I feel the author should have stopped after the second book of this trilogy. People will read it, but I was bored. I much prefer Hilderbrand's books dealing with more timely issues. I also didn’t care about the characters.
This was a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy set in the Virgin Islands. I loved all the characters because they were flawed and didn’t always make the right choices, but they all did their best to be good people, which is something we could use more of in the world. I really enjoyed this series, and strongly recommend it to transport you to some place beautiful. It had romantic elements with the acknowledgement that love is never easy, no matter what your age.
Thanks so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this novel, which RELEASES OCTOBER 6, 2020.
This was a nice wrap up to the series. I liked the characters and the mystery around Rosie and everything was enough to keep you reading to find out what happened. I felt that the story was moving along a little slowly, then it would jump ahead and rush to the end. I thought the crossover was interesting and nice to see a old favorite pop up.
I am a huge Elin Hilderbrand fan and was ecstatic when I received an ARC via Netgalley. "Troubles in Paradise" is the third book in Hilderbrand's Paradise series. I read the previous two books, so I was familiar with the characters and the backstory. However, for those that haven't read the other books, I think it would be easy to catch up based on the amount of details that Hilderbrand provides. (Truthfully, I think there was too much backstory repetition in this book, but I understand why it was done that way.)
PROS: The descriptions in this book are fantastic. I could feel the tropical breeze, and picture the turquoise waters. I love the family-dynamic in this book between the eclectic blend of families. I thought Hilderbrand wrapped up the trilogy very nicely, and I was satisfied with the ending.
CONS: As I mentioned before, there was a little too much repetition of the previous two books in this novel. I think we could have used less backstory and more of the hurricane. Based on the synopsis, I was expecting most of the book to be about the hurricane. It was until 86% of the book that the hurricane was first mentioned and it felt rather rushed.
Overall, I think this was a great ending to the Paradise trilogy.
First I would like to thank Netgalley and Little, Brown and Company for the ARC of Troubles in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand.
Publishing Date: October 6, 2020.
Queen Elin’s 3rd book in her paradise series definitely did not disappoint. I read an article the other day about how Elin defines a beach read not as something easy to read but something you can’t put down. I definitely feel that way with her books.
One of my favorite parts of this series and this book, in particular, is that all the chapters change points of view between person to person. I feel like you get to experience every single aspect of the story this way. I love seeing one situation from one person's view, then getting to see how the other person truly felt about it. I also think this writing style keeps me always wanting to see what happens next.
In this third addition to the Paradise series, there is “Troubles in Paradise”. There is trouble on the island between families and relationships that test the characters throughout the book.
The only thing that disappointed me about this book was I felt like the end was very rushed and all of a sudden everything just wrapped up and was over. I also was very taken aback by a random character coming into play in the last few pages.
Wow, what a way to finish the Paradise series! I loved getting to know this cast of characters throughout the three book series and this final novel did not disappoint. I do think this wrapped up the series very nicely, but I could imagine some spin off series as Maia grows up, it would be great to revisit this amazing island and its people.
Without spoiling anything, I loved that we had a reunion of sorts with some old familiar characters of another Hildebrand series, this was tastefully done and did not take away from the main story and characters.
If you haven’t read the first two novels in the Paradise series, you have a couple of months to catch up and jump in when Troubles in Paradise is released.
Loved this book and although I am sad to say goodbye to this series, I can’t wait to see what Hildebrand writes next!
I have loved all the books in this series and this one was no exception! I was swept away to the white sandy beaches of the Virgin Islands and couple vividly picture all of the places Hilderbrand writes about.
All of the characters had satisfying outcomes and she nicely tied up all loose ends. Great read!
Great ending book to the trilogy!! Not entirely what I expected to happen, but it was definitely a fun read.
Breakups, boats and babies, oh my! Elin Hilderbrand is at it again with the third book in her Paradise trilogy.
Irene and Huck, Baker and Ayers, Cash and Tilda - who will end up together and who will part ways forever?
This book has all of the elements of a perfect Hilderbrand novel: beaches, love triangles and misunderstandings. It even has a guest appearance from Margaret Quinn (from Hilderbrand's Winter Trilogy). Make sure to start with book 1, or you will be lost! It is a perfect beach read or an excellent read for the winter under an electric blanket with a sun lamp on your face.
Troubles in Paradise is the final book in the Winter in Paradise Trilogy by Ellin HIlderbrand. Irene Steele is now living in her late husband's secret villa on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, when the FBI seizes not only that property, but her home in the US and all of her property, as a result of the secret double life he had been leading before he was killed in a helicopter crash with his girlfriend. The book traces Irene and her sons' recovery from this devastating discovery and how they begin new lives on the island.
This book fell kind of flat for me, as everything was wrapped up in a neat little bow, in spite of some pretty horrible behavior on the part of some characters and a horrendous Category 5 hurricane that makes a direct hit on the island. It was a very trite wrap up to what had been an enjoyable series. It also seemed that Maia's story was just dropped and left unfinished.
Thank you to the author, Little, Brown & Company and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
It's not a secret here that I love Elin Hilderbrand. I pre-order her books and anxiously await release day. So when I saw that Troubles in Paradise - the third book in the trilogy - was available as an ARC, I had to have it! This was a one day read for me - once I started, I simply wasn't putting it down.
I LOVE character development, and getting to see these characters continue to work through their situation felt authentic. It's not all sunshine and rainbows - like real life! - but there are many heartwarming moments throughout. Ultimately, I felt really happy with where this book left these characters, and I'm excited to see them in a future book of Elin's.
Spoiling this one sentence: WHEN I TELL YOU I SCREAMED AT MARGARET QUINN'S NAME ON THE PAGE, I MEAN IT. I SCREEEEEECHED with glee. One of my most favorite things about Elin's world is that we get to catch up with characters from other books, and seeing Margaret and her family just felt so good.
This is the much anticipated last installment of Elin Hilderbrand's' Paradise trilogy. Come and spend some more time in the Caribbean with the Steele family and new friends.
Irene Steele had left her home in the states to find out more about her husband Russ's double life in the Caribbean. She has just settled into his secret gorgeous villa on St John's when the FBI makes a surprise visit and upends her life once again. When her sons decide to make St John's their home they all try to mend the pieces of the life they thought they had with their father but begin to think that his death was not an accident. Add onto this a pregnancy, a mysterious jeep driving woman, a deadly hurricane and you have one heck of an ending to the Paradise trilogy. I do feel that the introduction of some new characters toward the end of the book might just lead to another wonderful series! I can't wait and I'm sure you won't be able to either for any news of this happening!
