#Elin Hilderbrand tells a remarkable story in #TroublesInParadise. This book is chocked full of characters and as the book continues new ones are added. The story is told from the perspective of many and is set on the beautiful island of St. John's Virgin Islands. First we find out about Irene who has lost her mansion on the island and her home in Iowa due to the illegal dealings of her husband. Irene is living with Huck a charter boat owner, the stepfather of Irene's husband's mistress and grandfather of their illegitimate child . The husband and the mistress were killed in a mysterious helicopter crash and Huck is raising the granddaughter. Irene's handsome two sons come to live on the island and go in and out of romances and relationships very quickly. There is a lot of the island topography and character in the book as well as the popular current real estate holdings of very excusive clubs, villas and motels on some of the previously remote and unsettled property on the Virgin Islands. Elin is a seasoned story teller. This is her twenty-sixth novel. Her writing and characterizations are great and the setting is fantastic. This book is just plain entertaining. Funny at times, romantic and poignant at others and of course there is the beautiful island of St. John's. Thanks #NetGalley#TroublesInParadise for this fun read.

In this third book in the trilogy Irene Steele and her sons are trying to put the pieces of their lives back together after the death of her husband revealed the lies. Just when things seem to be stabilizing more information is revealed. Who can Irene trust? How can she rebuild a life? A story of family and resilience and love this is a satisfying end to the trilogy.

I love Elin Hilderbrand and she is one of the top feel good fiction writers in my book.
After uprooting her life in the States, Irene Steele has just settled in at the villa on St. John where her husband Russ had been living a double life. But a visit from the FBI shakes her foundations, and Irene once again learns just how little she knew about the man she loved. Was the helicopter crash really an accident? And who is following the Steele family? Through a storm the family finds the answers to these questions while figuring out relationships and what really matters.
I liked this book more than the first two. It had a bit more mystery and oomph in it. The mystery made me want to keep reading and the description of sights and sounds of St. John made me want to go visit! Not one of my favourite Elin Hilderbrqnd books (that would be 28 summers) but a nice summer read that ties up this series very nicely! Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy!

3.5/5

Troubles in Paradise is the final book in the “Winters in Paradise” trilogy. In the previous books the Steele family had learned that the father, Russ Steele, had a second family on the island of St. John, including a girlfriend, Rosie, and 12-year old child Maia. When he was killed in a helicopter accident in the first book, all his secrets began to surface. In the third book, the remaining Steeles (Irene, Baker and Cash) move down to the island of St. John and continue to learn more about their father’s past. And the past soon finds them.... The Steeles are contacted by the FBI, investigating Russ’s questionable business practices. They are left without a home after the property is seized.

Maia, Huck, and Rosie’s friend Ayers are also navigating choppy waters. Huck and Ayers are starting to sort through Rosie’s things and discover a diary, covering the time before and during her courtship with Russ. But the diary reveals more than Huck and Ayers were prepared for....

Irene and her sons find love in St. John’s. Then quickly have those relationships threatened. And just when you think this book couldn’t pack in any more drama, in comes major hurricane Inga to shake up the island. Will the relationships survive? Will the island survive?

I absolutely loved this final book is the trilogy (and was also disappointed that this was the final book!). In fairness I was warned before I dove into the first page (whew). This book gave you a bit of everything: drama, turmoil, island life, and love. This was the perfect ending to the Winters of Paradise series and a must read.

Elin Hilderbrand’s final book on the paradise trilogy was... just okay. It was a fine wrap up to the Steele family, but it was pretty predictable and uneventful. I felt the ending was a bit rushed (and what was the point of Margaret Quinn?) and things in the book were just too convenient. The Steele’s need money and it just appears- not once but three times. Too convenient. I really don’t think it lives up to her other novels, but it was a quick, easy read.

For me Elin’s books are synonymous with summer (minus those wonderfully sweet winter ones with the Quinns) and this was no exception. If you’re a fan of any of her books, you’ve no doubt read the ones about St. John’s, and the Steele family, this story brings you right back to the island with the family and the aftermath of the first two books. Taking moments of the real life hurricane Elin makes you feel as if you’re right there, as if you’re watching this family, you’re on the island. A great wrap up on a family and series you’ve come to love, highly recommended for fans of the previous Steele family books (although I would recommend the first two just to get acquainted with the drama the island seems to have!

This was a fun series, but I really much prefer and love Elin Hilderbrand's stand-alone novels. Always looking forward to her next book.

I have been patiently waiting for this conclusion to the trilogy and it did not disappoint! I absolutely loved spending more time with these characters and learning how their stories end. I love the journeys the characters went on over the course of the series and I loved seeing each character’s growth as a result of all of the struggles they experienced. If you like character-driven books with a little mystery thrown in, you will really enjoy this series!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

When I started this book I did not realize it was the third in a series, but I never felt the need to stop and read the first two books before continuing. The plot moved along at an entertaining pace and I was given enough character history to easily follow the storyline. The characters were well developed and relatable, although not necessarily likable, Another enjoyable beach escape from Elin Hilderbrand.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown & Co. for the ARC!

I felt like this book had way too many hard to believe moments. One person gets money, then another person. One moves into a house from an ex, etc. It seemed like when a problem arose, boom, it was fixed without anyone even trying to work on fixing it. Things just don't come that easy to everyone. The more I got into the book, the more Ayers annoyed me. Then the moment between Baker and Duncan had me rolling my eyes. Not sure what the point of Margaret Quinn was.

Elin Hilderbrand does it AGAIN. I literally adore all of her books. Her writing is so good, her stories are so sweet, and her characters are seriously the most relatable and the best.

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read her newest book, and the final installment in her newest trilogy, Troubles In Paradise coming out in October. Usually I wait to read these until it's closer to publication, but Elin is my favorite author and I was so shocked and excited to be given a chance to review this, that I picked it up IMMEDIATELY.

Let me start off by saying that I LOVED at the end how Elin connected one of her Winter Street series characters to a main character in this trilogy.

This is the third and final installment in the Paradise trilogy.

These characters are so compelling and relatable, that you can't help but love them. The Steele family will always be close to my heart, and I am sad to see that their story has ended but happy that they all are happy. I would love to see some sort of spin-off with these characters in the future because I am curious of what is to come for our beloved characters.

The story itself picks up right where the second installment left off. The second book was not my favorite, but this one quickly warmed it's way into my heart and really impressed me as a finale. It was action-packed, while also having Elin's enchanting scenary, impressive romance, and a little bit of mystery. It was nice to see how the mystery itself was wrapped up. Usually Elin focuses heavily on the romance, so it was nice to see her weave that into a bit of a mystery.

This book is simply magical and transports you to a summery setting. I found myself missing the beach a lot while reading this and making a mental note to myself that not only do I need to check out Nantucket, but St. John as well. Elin's writing is so descriptive that I could picture many different places of the setting that she has woven together based on reality and fiction.

Overall, this was an impressive wrap up and really brought closure to the story line and it's characters. I don't think that it could have been written any other way.

I love this trilogy and I am so sad that it is over. Now that I’ve said that I have to say that the third book was everything I hoped for and expect from an Elin Hilderbrand novel! There are no cliffhangers - the series is complete, but I could definitely see a new series with some of these characters - there was even a surprise visit from a Winter street character in this one! If you love Elon’s books you will love how she completed the Paradise series. Thank you to Netgalley for my eARC!

I'm sad to see the series come to an end! I loved all of the characters and all of the trials and tribulations they were each faced with. As always, I enjoyed Elin's descriptions of the island and of the food they are as it really aids in creating the scene.

The characters are wholesome. The plot is never boring but sucks you in, wanting more, pulling for all of the characters. The ending had a nice touch as well by including some familiar characters from some of her other works.

A highly enjoyable read!

I loved this series! Troubles in Paradise is the final installment, so be sure to start with the first book in the series.

Hilderbrand was able to create a cast of characters that I truly cared about and found very relatable. She seamlessly navigates from one narrator to another to create an engaging story that I did not want to end.

Troubles in Paradise picks up where the previous installment leaves off. The Steele family has all relocated to St. John and are still in many ways navigating the mess that the deceased Richard left behind. Hilderbrand tells us that this is a fictional version of St. John, but it seems real enough and is beautifully created. We are reunited with Ayers, Huck, Maia, Cash, Baker, Tilda, and others.

As much as I loved this book and series, I felt like the end of this one was a little rushed, and I wish she had slowed it all down a bit, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown & Co. for the ARC!

This was another awesome book by Elin Hilderbrand. There was a lot of characters in this book to keep up with but the author is such a good writer that it was easy to keep up. There was suspense, family drama, helicopter crash, a birth during a hurricane and so much more!! Great book!! Thank you for the early copy.

A must-read series from Elin Hilderbrand. This is the third and final installment of the Paradise trilogy, and I highly recommend reading them in order, as there are a lot of characters and aspects of the story to keep straight. The author has a unique way of writing, almost as if she is chatting with you and telling you the latest news about your friends. Many interesting characters and a great story line all set in the beautiful Virgin Islands.

Sigh.

After being cliffhanged on the last two books in the Paradise trilogy by Elin Hilderbrand, I finally have all the answers.

Was Russell Steele really a nefarious criminal mastermind?

Is Ayers going to cave and continue taking subpar Mick back, regardless of the fact that he sucks?

How will Irene feel if she ever gets her hands on Rosie's diaries and reads the deepest truths of Rosie's relationship with Russ, while also getting a snapshot of how Russ viewed her?

And, finally, is Maia's relationships with her brothers going to take off and go the way I know I'm hoping it will?

All of these questions are tied up neatly in the third and final book in this beautiful trilogy, made relatable despite the financial bubble the characters in Hilderbrand's books often reside in by how painfully honest the writing is. People are rarely fair to others when they're hurt, confused, angry, or going through something and that raw humanity always shines through in every Elin book I have ever read- even when the subject matter is damned painful (as it is in her 2012 novel 'Summerland').

There is something just so lovable about characters (and real people) who are self aware enough to own their flaws, as Hilderbrand's characters unfailingly seem to do; the most brilliant example in 'Troubles' being when Irene acknowledges that her anger at Huck over Rosie and Russ's relationship is, simply, because he is the only one left to blame. There is beauty in knowing when you're being unfair or selfish, and it is woven throughout this finale beautifully.

This, combined with a surprise appearance of a favorite character of mine from a past series made this my top book of summer that couldn't be put down until I knew everything I needed to know.

A great a conclusion to this trilogy. It's comforting to read about old "friends" and find a conclusion to this story set in St. John. Questions are answered and I was left feeling satisfied. It seemed to be a little bit rushed but overall, another great read by Hilderbrand! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
