Escape the real world for a while and travel to the Caribbean with the Steeles to experience romance and family drama as intense as a hurricane. A bittersweet ending to the Winter in Paradise series! I have adored every book in this triology and I did NOT want it to end. Saying goodbye to Irene, Huck, Baker, Ayers, Cash, and Maia was like saying goodbye to old friends, but this book wrapped the series and the characters' story-lines nicely. Mysteries were solved, relationships were solidified, and the Steeles were finally able to call the island home. Like the other books in the series, this book is a quick and captivating read and is a love letter to St. Johns. If you loved the previous Paradise books or other Hilderbrand novels, you'll love this one. If you haven't read the previous Paradise books, go back and read those first -- you're in for a treat as sweet as a pina colada. Here's to hoping these characters will make cameos in future Hilderbrand books! 4/5 stars. Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown, and Company publishing for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was the very best ending to the story. I know it is set for 3 books but I would love if there was. 4th! I was so happy that Huck and Irene ended up together even after the journals caused a bump in the road. I was also happy that they found out what happened and possibly getting money for wrongful death. They also did a great job describing the hurricane. Having Mrs. Quinn was just the icing on the cake!
Thanks to Little, Brown, and Company and Netgalley for the ebook arc of Troubles in Paradise. I am sad to say goodbye to the Steele family. I enjoyed their ability to embrace the new life that was thrown at them in the midst of tragedy and betrayal. The third installment in this series does not disappoint and we are left with a glimpse of a bright future for Irene, Huck, Baker, Ayers, Cash, Tilda, and Maia. The course of true love never does run smooth and this book is no exception. Irene must overcome the hurt and anger that she feels towards her philndering husband to move on with her life. The mystery is solved or at least many questions were answered when a mystery woman appears. A new life brightens up a dangerous hurricane and there is also hope of a rebirth for the US Virgin Islands after a devasting hurricane. This book will put a smile on your face.
3rd and final book in this trilogy. As the author says, read in order. I loved being back with everyone on St. John’s and watching the relationships grow. Elin Hilderbrand tied every story up with a nice bow.
As always Elin Hilderbrand's books deserve more than five stars!!! So sad to see the end of the Paradise trilogy, but what a GREAT ending to a cast of wonderful and lovable characters!! Can't believe I have to wait until next year to enjoy another one of her books! Thanks Elin for your FANTASTIC stories!
Elin does it again!!! While I didn't love book 2 in this series, she completely redeems herself and the story here! Do please make sure to read the other Paradise books before picking this up to deepen your understanding, it is SO worth it!
To say that I am sad that this is the end of the series would be an understatement. I love Elin Hilderbrand and will read everything she writes. This 3rd in the trilogy was a perfect ending to the story. I was so invested in the characters, Huck, Irene, Cash, Baker, Ayers, and Maia, and wish it would continue. I want to hear more about the dynamics of the people who became so entwined because of someone's double life. I also really want to visit St. John---- it sounds like an incredible place!
Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book. I loved the "winter" series by Ms. Hilderbrand and now i am equally impressed with the Paradise series. The first two books were interesting to see the family dynamics after receiving such catastrophic news. I liked the way Ms. Hilderbrand took this third book to wrap up the stories. I am always happy when authors tie all of the loose ends up when completing a series. I liked that to get to the conclusion each member of the family had to come to grips with everything Russ had done, and to move on with their own lives. I also liked the way each member of the Steele family do find a way to move on and to find happiness. I also am impressed with the way they are very accepting of Maia and realize that she was the innocent victim in the whole crazy mess. All in all this was a great series with many highs and lows and was a thoroughly enjoyable read, start to finish.
Thank you to #NetGalley, Elin Hilderbrand and Little, Brown and Company for providing me with a digital copy of this book prior to publication in exchange for my honest review. Troubles in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand is the conclusion to her Winter in Paradise trilogy.
I have enjoyed the other books in this series and this one was no exception. I love St. John and one of them main draws of this book was the trip down memory lane to people and places on the island. I like the way the characters were moved through the story but it does a fine job of wrapping up the stories of the main characters. However, there were way too many extraneous characters introduced, and I sometime found myself skipping along in the book.
Overall, a good beach, summer read!
I just finished Troubles in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand, the final book in the Paradise trilogy. Very enjoyable but it felt a little like saying good bye to old friends. If you liked the Winter Street books, you will love this series. There was a line in the book about when you get to the end of your rope, “Make a knot and hang on.” That seems like very good advise in this time of Covid-19 and all the challenges that come with it.
I loved this series and could not wait to read the last one. However I feel a little let down. I felt like this could have been a stand alone book. Finding out about Irene’s husband was a small part of this book and once that was over it was like it never happened. I felt like there was such a build up of what happened to him in the first two books and then it only lasted a few paragraphs. I am very happy with where all the characters lives ended up and did enjoy the book just not as much as I had hoped.
The end of the Paradise trilogy from Elin Hilderbrand...I was sad to see the storyline end, but how everything wrapped up - wow!
We pick up instantly with the Steele family. The Baker family has lost Cinnamon Cove (Russ’s love nest on St. John’s island) and all monetary belongings under the family name- what will Irene do? Will she stay with Huck and become his first mate on the Mississippi? Even though he’s the Grandfather of Maia - daughter of Russ?
And Baker...once he’s heard Ayers engagement - can he and Floyd be happy on St Johns again?
Cash and Tilda- is it truly love at first sight or is this rich, daddy’s girl going to fall too?
The Steele family learns the meaning of family and true resilience in the end. We will experience their joys, dreams and tragedies alongside them.
I haven't read any of the prior St.John books, however, I don't think it effected the easy of falling into lockstep with these characters who are all rich and complex. Told through many characters (just when you really get into the story of one, another viewpoint enters - making this a great easy read.)
Funny. Heartbreaking. Resilience.
Wonderful escape reading.
4.5 stars from me!
Third and final in the Paradise trilogy - I still love the characters but couldn't quite connect to the new ones introduced in Troubles... and hated seeing my favorites struggle in the aftermath of the affair. Of course it warms my heart to have a Nantucket friend pop up in the end. Troubles is good and I enjoyed it *almost* as much as Winter and What Happens. This was a fitting end to the trilogy! Thanks to #Netgalley for the opportunity to preview #TroublesinParadise by @ElinHilderbrand
Troubles in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand ties up the loose ends of the Paradise series. Irene, Huck, and all the others will be missed.
A quick and fun read. The many characters continued to be a lot to keep up with. A few plot lines were very predictable, but it was nice to have all the storylines resolved in some way.
I really have come to look forward to Elin Hilderbrand's books every summer. Although I was sad that this was the last book in her latest trilogy, I feel it did a good job of wrapping up the series in a satisfactory manner. I have never read a book by Hilderbrand that I just didn't like, and this is no exception. I don't usually have to recommend these books to our customers- Hilderbrand has a very established fan base- but I will recommend this trilogy to those new to this author. Hilderbrand makes my job easy, because her books usually sell themselves, and this book, as I said, is no exception.
Obviously and must read for the followers of the In Paradise series, but I read it as a stand alone not knowing about the 2 prequels. I checked those out from the library because I enjoyed this one.
A trip to Paradise is always a welcomed adventure -- and what an exhilarating adventure it is! Ms. Hilderbrand brings closure to the mystery that led to the entanglement of the two families in a story that delivers love, peril, excitement, and drama all amid the beauty and tranquility of the Virgin Islands. Thank you, Ms. Hilderbrand, for the many vacations in Paradise!
