Finished the third book in this series last night! I believe this is the finale of this series and I’m so so sad to see these characters leave!

When I think of Elin Hildebrand, I always think of sunmer, sunshine, and now, the islands! Huck, Irene, Ayers, and all the other characters brought such joy! A seemingly normal family with anything but normal problems!

I love finales to leave tidy bows and this book did just that! A satisfying ending, a heartfelt storyline, and enough humor and conflict to be authentic!

If you’re going to read this, be sure to read #1 and #2 first and you will fall in love too!

Elin"s Hilderbrand books are always exciting and the stories are well thought out. This was part of a trilogy...I loved this series. The characters are always likeable and easy to identify with.

This book was received as an ARC from Little, Brown and Company in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is the book that will leave you wanting more and leaving you even more speechless from where you first started. I absolutely love when there is a mystery involved and from reading the first two in the series, this one was anticipated to be the best for last and it most certainly lived up to its reputation. Elin Hilderbrand does a brilliant job constructing these novels and they are even more thrilling than the next. Such a thrill ride that will leave your heart racing and scream for excitement.

We will consider adding this title to our Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

The third book in a trilogy. Paradise is found on Hilabrand's novel zetin the Caribbean. She makes life come alive and her story is deep engrossing.

Thank you @littlebrown and @netgalley for my eARC of Troubles in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand.

As most of you know, I'm an @elinhilderbrand Stan. This was my 19th Hilderbrand novel and I have no intention of ever giving her up. I have a history with her books and I will read every new release she puts out because I find them comforting and compulsively consumable, just like this bowl of Annie's cheddar shells topped with Nands sauce.

Troubles in Paradise is the third in Hilderband's paradise series which are her first novels that do not take place in Nantucket, but instead are set in St. John USVI, another dear place to her, where she has spent many winters. As someone who started reading Hilderbrand's books solely for the setting of Nantucket, I was still incredibly drawn to these books. I loved the cast of characters and the light elements of mystery and intrigue. The first and second books finish on cliff hangers, propelling you onto the next in the series.

As the third in a trilogy, Troubles in Paradise delivers answers and closure for most of the characters and their journeys. I had a few questions that were left hanging, but for the most part I really enjoyed the way this one wrapped everything up. Hilderbrand includes an author's note at the beginning of this book that she had written it before the Island was ravaged by not one but two hurricanes in 2017. She lays it out right from the beginning of the novel that a hurricane takes place in this book, and I respect the way she provided this information early as a trigger warning for anyone who experienced loss or devastation due to those horrific storms.

All in all, I flew through this one as I so often do with Elin's novels.

This is the last book in the Winter in Paradise trilogy. Once again the Steele family has more lies to contend with. They discover evidence that the helicopter crash that killed Russ was probably no accident. There is a strange Jeep with tinted windows that is following the family and the question is why? All the details about the secrets and lies will be revealed in this novel. Will the family be able to put the past behind them and begin anew in their paradise home in St. John?

This is book 3 in the Paradise series. It is set back in Saint John's with the Steel family moving into the home that Russ bought for his double life. Irene and her sons are surprised by a visit from the FBI indicating that Russ's helicopter accident was murder, not an accident. Not my favorite of the series but an ending I can live with. A little too much rehash of the previous books. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A tidy wrapping up of the Winter in Paradise series by Elin Hilderbrand. We get answers later to questions that lingered from the first two books and most open ends sort themselves out. There’s a bit of an odd turn in the last 100 pages that felt sort of out of place- it should have either been the focal point of the book or just left out. Overall, an easy beach read with a little bit of mystery.

I've read and loved all of Elin's books, and this one was no exception! It was a satisfying end to the trilogy, with the wonderful storytelling and engaging characters that Elin is known for. The St. John atmosphere was really enticing and added a lot to the story. I always fly through her books because her writing is so good and I'm immediately drawn into her stories! Love her books!!!

Irene Steele receives a call on New Years that unravels her life and has her question what is truly necessary. Learning that not only has her husband died in a suspicious helicopter accident, but he had a second family on the island. Looking for answers she and her sons arrive at a splendid villa only to find this second home is now the property of the Feds. Reeling from lost on a personal and financial level, she decides to stay on the island and find new meaning for her life. The island appeals to her sons as well. The story takes a turn as facts surrounding the crash reveal a husband she doesn’t recognize and a new family constantly evolving.

Troubles in Paradise, by Elin Hilderbrand, is a fitting conclusion to the author’s highly enjoyable trilogy about life and love on the US Virgin Islands. Hilderbrand is a master at taking advantage of her physical setting. As I have said in past reviews of her novels, she manages to engage your senses so that you feel the breezes, see the water, and hear the waves. Almost all of her characters are engaging and likeable, although they are often flawed, hesitate, make mistakes and are angry with the wrong people for the wrong reasons. Frankly, I am going to miss Huck, Irene, Cash, Baker and Ayers. These characters develop and grow over the three books, so I urge you to start at the beginning and enjoy these characters to the fullest. If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the news of the day, this series provides the perfect escape!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the opportunity to read a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. It was a pleasure!

After experiencing some harrowing life events, the characters are trying to figure out how to start over and move on from the past.

I enjoyed reading the conclusion to this trilogy. The characters felt real, with real problems, and they weren't neatly tied up with a bow. The characters were relatable, had flaws and their own quirks, and I was rooting for everything to turn out alright for them.

I love the descriptions of the scenery--makes me want to travel down to the Virgin Islands and relax! All in all, an easy read with a little bit of love, drama, and intrigue to keep it interesting. I definitely recommend this novel.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to Netgalley and Little, Brown and Company for an egalley in exchange for an honest review.

Just like that Elin Hilderbrand concludes another trilogy and rips my heart out while also making me smile. Although you could read Troubles as a stand-alone, I would suggest reading books 1 and 2 because Irene, Huck, Cash, Baker, Maia, and Ayers are the kind of characters that you want to spend as much time with as possible. I loved all the ups and downs of this trilogy and the final installment was full of heartache and redemption. Although I cannot travel at the moment, I have enjoyed my literary escape to St. John very much.

⭐⭐⭐/5

This book was not as engaging for me as some of Elin Hilderbrand's other novels. I usually enjoying getting cuaght up in the emotional aspect of her writing, but this one fell short for me. I had a difficult time getting interested in the plot, so I found myself skimming over parts, hoping the Hilderbrand magic that sweeps so many readers would emerge. I look forward to future books from this writer.

An adorable conclusion to a great trilogy to escape to. The only irk I noticed was that the story within the journal was repeated in detail multiple time... between each of its different readers. I appreciated the individual reactions to the reading of journal, but it felt like it was stretching the story out a little bit. Otherwise, everything was tied up quite nicely... well done.

Troubles in Paradise was a 3.5 star for me. I liked it, I did. It kind of closed the trilogy up nicely, however, the story telling seemed different. I didn’t get the emotionally invested feeling I did with the first two books and the way it ended I thought was quite odd.

MILD SPOILER ALERT

At the end, a random character was brought in to close out the story and it made no sense to me. I felt the story had hit it’s closing marks early in the book, but that Elin had to keep going to get the book to length. The point of views changed a bit, and the writing just seemed lackluster by the end.

While the book was good enough to keep me reading and I enjoyed this trilogy very much, this last one just didn’t hit that Elin HIlderbrand Bar. You know, that level at which she beautifully writes and captures you. I still love her though, we can’t all be perfect 100% of the time. I’ll chalk this one up to simply not being one of my faves and I will impatiently wait for her next one.

I received an advanced copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

3.5 stars, rounded. The last of the Paradise trilogy has a LOT to wrap up, and honestly I felt like some parts of the storyline were shorted a bit too much (and not insignificant parts, either- I felt like the legal issues that were the big cliffhanger at the end of book two were ignored for a long time in the middle of the story and then incredibly quickly wrapped up). I felt like we did get to really see all the characters off in ways that felt authentic, and it's honestly a little disappointing we won't be spending more time with them as I've grown to really enjoy them over this series.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Troubles in Paradise. I have loved Elin Hilderbrand's books for years and year. The thing I love most is that she does series books. And this is the third book in this series. As I started reading this one it occurred to me that I had not read the second book in the series, What Happens in Paradise, so I quickly downloaded, read it in a day and moved on to Troubles. As we learned in the first book everything is not what it seems in families. And as the Steele family figures out discovering the truth is never easy or fun. I so loved this book that finished telling the rest of the story about greed and what happens when you get in too far over your head. I highly recommend not just Troubles in Paradise but book #1 Winter in Paradise.
