I received this on Kindle for the purpose of review from Net Galley.
Well, I chose this because I am a grandparent and I have screen grands from age 22 to seven weeks.
Gary Chapman and Arlene Pellicane present a very balanced approach to grandparenting children that have screens and are also somewhat addicted to said screens. It is an item that as a grandmother (Mimi by name) I am concerned about. I also must remember I am the grand not the parent. I have been blessed with five children who do listen to our counsel and we have pointed out the obvious with regard to screens.
Mr. Chapman gives a much better solution than just giving a mini sermon on the dangers but rather when they are with you, the grand, make things more fun than being on the screen. That takes time and effort but if relationship is what you want, then you pray and put on your creativity. There are many options available to you.
Lastly, when you are with your grands, be a good example and let you phone go to voicemail or turn off your phone and remove the temptation to look at it.
I highly recommend grands and parents read this book and also evaluate their own screen time.....I have and I am in the creative idea stage now.
