This was a good book and i did enjoy it, however i did feel that could start to see the formula of her work, having read loads of her work, so i started to guess who was who and what happened. This was a thrilling read and if anyone is looking for a great suspense novel, i would definitely advise them to pick this up. Fun well written and quick paced and a chilled day read.
Review was made in exchange for a chance to read a wonderful book. So let's start with what to expect, A radio talk show host named Eve Reilly is used to backlash and hate from her radio show but now it seems a disgruntled listener is resorting to more than angry words to express displeasure of her topics. When a suspicious package arrives on Eve's doorstep, Eve turns to authorities for help in which they can't find any evidence to any of the disturbing incidents that occurs. This book does have some twists and turns and you feel like you are solving a mystery for sure. I would say that the characters are believable and I was interested in them, I believe this may be a series of books that will follow but I enjoyed the style of writing and this was my first read of Irene Hannon as an author. I would recommend this book for sure.
Oh my goodness! Point of Danger kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning (the first line is “The package was ticking”) to end. The suspense thread is masterfully done, and I was completely stunned when the culprit was revealed. I love suspense reads that can still surprise me, and Irene Hannon is skilled at doing exactly that.
Hannon also knows how to create characters that linger with you long after you’ve finished the story that featured them. (Which is one reason I love how she includes cameos from characters of her past series.) In Point of Danger, Eve Reilly is one such protagonist. I don’t recall ever having a conservative talk radio host as a heroine before, and honestly I wasn’t sure I was going to like Eve because I tend to be turned off by the abrasive personalities of many such hosts in real life. Thankfully in Eve’s case, I was able to see past her profession to her big heart and courageous spirit, as well as her balance between being a spitfire and having a cool head. Hannon gave her character several thoughtful layers to unpack, and for that matter she did the same for the story’s hero, Brent, and many of the supporting characters, too.
Bottom Line: Point of Danger kicks off Irene Hannon’s Triple Threat series with a story full of unexpected twists, intriguing characters, and a delicious slow-burn romance. Eve and Brent are delightful together, and I loved watching them navigate their developing feelings for one another while dodging whomever wants Eve dead, of course. Meeting Eve’s sisters (who each get their own book) and experiencing their sweet & witty sisterly dynamics made me even more eager for the rest of the series than I already was. Oh, and hang on to your hat because just when you think you know how this story is going to go, Hannon throws in a stunning surprise! I couldn’t put it down!
(I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I also purchased for my own collection.)
My Impressions:
Eve Reilly is the host of a morning drive radio show that does not shy away from controversial topics. Her conservative views ruffle a lot of feathers, but the threats that come fast and furious catch everyone off guard. Enter Brent Lange, a police detective dedicated to the job because of his belief that his past prohibits meaningful relationships. The two work together to uncover the person or persons threatening Eve — and the sparks begin to fly! I always enjoy a romantic suspense novel by Irene Hannon, and Point of Danger filled my need for mysterious twists and turns and a romance with spice and sass. 😉 I had my eye on a number of suspects and was partially correct in my suspicions. Partially, because of a major twist I did not see coming! I admit to turning the pages furiously to find out whodunit!
Point of Danger was the perfect choice for a fast-paced book to lose myself in. It is book 1 in the Triple Threat series and introduces Eve’s sisters who will have books of their own. In fact, book 2, Labyrinth of Lies is now available. Yes, I am reading that one too!
Recommended.
Audience: adults.

Point of Danger by Irene Hannon starts off with a really tense situation that immediately grabbed my interest and had me second guessing everyone in the story! When I read a romantic suspense, I tend to accuse everyone! This story was no different. Strangely, I actually had the bad guy pegged as soon as they appeared on the page.
While I enjoyed this story and liked Eve and Brent, I felt like there were a lot of loose ends that needed to be tied up. Maybe they will be in the next stories of this series, but it doesn’t seem like they would be because the loose ends related directly to Eve and her story. That being said, this story kept my interest the whole time and was an entertaining read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I am reviewing a copy of Point of Danger through Revell and NetGalley:
Eve Reilly is a radio talk show host who is used to backlash from her pot-stirring on-air commentary and interviews, but now it seems a disgruntled listener is resorting to more than angry words to express their displeasure. When a suspicious package arrives on her doorstep, Eve turns to law enforcement for help.
Brent Lange is the police detective signed to Eve Reilly. He can’t find any evidence to link the string of unsettling incidents that follows, but he's convinced they're connected. As the harassment grows more menacing, it becomes clear someone wants Eve's voice silenced permanently.
Unless he is able to attack the person out to silence Eve, the gutsy woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, maybe silenced forever.
I give Point of Danger five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
I picked up this book thinking it would be a mystery or thriller with a background romance. Unfortunately, this was a romance book, with a minor mystery in the background.
This was super twisty and full of suspense and that twist at the end!!! Omg!
There was some romance in here too tho that i wasn’t expecting but i enjoyed a bit of romance too. This had me engaged from the start and it was hard to put down!
I started Point of Danger and really wanted to find a new romantic suspense author but this one just fell short for me. Eve Reilly is a political talk show host, but her conservative views come across as very arrogant, even though I am not opposed to conservative values. She completely lacks any personality and her developing relationship with Brent is completely unbelievable. Brent also lacks any endearing qualities and is mainly described as being extremely handsome. The suspense element is lacking and we are just mainly told how scared the main character is but the emotions just don’t convey to the reader. As another review mentioned, the choice of words is out of touch and laughable at times.
I love Irene Hannon’s books. Point of Danger, the first of her Triple Threat series, was no exception.
In Point of Danger, Eve Reilly is a radio talk show host who is known for her controversial topics which often stir up a certain amount of reaction and antagonism from some listeners. Then one day, an apparently disgruntled listener decides to take matters a step further. The antagonist is apparently determined to get the company to close her show or for her to tone down her topics—a step she is not prepared to take.
Police detective Brent Lange is anxious to prove his new ranking in his department. When he meets Eve Reilly, he soon finds himself inheriting a case that doesn’t make sense. Nevertheless, he believes the string of threats, both verbal and physical, are becoming not only threatening to the show but also holds the intention of getting rid of Eve.
Once again, Irene has excelled herself as she builds tension upon tension. If you enjoy nail-biting suspense with a Christian influence, you will really enjoy Point of Danger.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this novel by Revell & NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

I read books to escape today’s politically volatile world. While I do not like having the author’s political view so blatantly on display in a fictional book, the more concerning issue is how she treats characters (and by extension readers) with different view points as the close-minded “bad guys”. This is the second time I’ve been disappointed in an Irene Hannon book. I will not be buying anymore, which is a huge disappointment since she used to be one of my favorite authors.
Controversial radio show host Eve Reilly has stirred up the ire of someone who is threatening her. Newly promoted Detective Brent Lange from the Crimes Against Persons Bureau has been assigned her case.
Author Irene Hannon builds tension with her delightfully descriptive writing as the threats against Eve escalates. I really enjoy how Hannon built the line of suspects while intensifying the nastiness targeted toward Eve. I like that the faith of both main characters was important to the story and how they dealt with things overall.
I received my advanced reader's copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in return for my own personal opinion about it. I enjoyed the story and look forward to the stories featuring Eve's sisters.
The first in a new series, Point of Danger is about a radio host Eve Reilly who shares very controversial opinions, so when a listener begins harassing her, she turns to detective Brent Lange. I was expecting this to be a detective mystery thriller, but it was basically a romance front a center with a small mystery as the sub plot...
It took me awhile to get into this story about a radio talk show host, Eve Reilly, who receives a package with a bomb in it on her front porch. Detective Brent Lange is assigned the case. I'm not into politics so I was glad the story didn't delve too deeply into that. Brent and his partner are racing against time as the threats against Eve escalate. Will he be able to save her before her voice is silenced permanently. Full of action, suspense, plot twists that you don't see coming, and a touch of romance.
This is the first book I've read of Irene Hannon's, and while I was not overly impressed by book, I liked it enough to check out some of her other books. I am a fan of mystery/thriller/romance. Eve Riley shows much spunk and independence in her chosen profession as on-air personality, but Detective Brent Lange isn't a big fan as her outspokenness has drawn some unwanted attention in the form of harassments and danger. I have no problem with either the addition of romance or Christianity into a storyline in this type of book. The issue of trust is well-written into the character.... because we all need to know who and when to trust. Very likeable characters, good mystery with hints along the way to the ending.. Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for the opportunity to read and review this advance reader copy. #NetGalley #PointofDanger
i just could not finish this. thought it’d be a mystery/thriller but this was definitely a romance novel as well as “christian fiction”and that’s just not my type of genre, sorry. also, how the women were portrayed... i couldn’t handle it.
i did love the multiple perspectives in characters though.
Let me start by saying this was not at all what I expected. Whilst there is invariably a cop with troubled background who falls in love with a suspect / victim / side character this love and romance aspect of the book way over took the suspense and crime aspect.
In saying that I did like Eve, it was nice to see a women act rationally and unafraid rather playing victim. I also like the supportive relationship Brent and Eve created so if you go into this book looking for an exciting romance book this is more your cup of tea as the crime aspect really is secondary to the love story. There are heavy religious elements with no sex or vulgar scenes so a fairly tame and enjoyable story - definitely best for those who like the idea of thrillers but not the gory or explicit parts that feature so heavily in modern books. but unfortunately not my cup of tea.
I received this book as an e-book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Point of Danger by Irene Hannon is book 1 in the Triple Threat Series. I thought it was an interesting read and a great start to a new series. I honestly am not sure why so many thought the book completely political. I think read independently from current affairs, it is a solid work of suspense and a great read altogether. I look forward to more books in this series. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Eve Reilly is a successful radio talk show host. She discovers a ticking package on her porch. Enter Det. Brent Lange who is assigned to the case. With many twists and turns the Detective and Eve begin to discover there is more to each other and begin to have hope they might have a relationship if the can discover who is trying to kill Eve. This was an interesting premise. As we all know these radio personalities tend to rile people up so it was a interesting plot for for a story. I didn't think there was as much romance as other reviewers stated. I did wish, however, that there should have been more emphasis on the solution. It felt as if the book changed from crime solving to romance. A few loose ends that didn't feel resolved.
Point Of Danger by Irene Hannon is a marvellous Christian crime suspense that had me glued and intrigued from the start. It is the first book in the Triple Threat series which promises to be fantastic.
The characters were wonderfully and realistically drawn. I loved the leading lady with her big heart and gutsy nature. She looked out for others, putting them first. She had a loving, caring relationship with her two sisters. She also looked out for the underdog.
Throughout the novel we ‘hear’ snippets of text from two of the perpetrators. It is up to the reader to see if they can solve the case before the police.
The plotline was intricate and well thought out. I followed all the red herrings that were dropped along the way - again!
Sometimes people have been hurt by others in their past. They believe (wrongly) that to prevent hurt, they must brick up their heart. This prevents them from living loved in the way that God intended. Sooner or later they must take a risk and demolish the self-built walls and let love in.
There is the theme of trust. Who is it that intends harm? Where should we place our trust?
At times there is nowhere else to go but to go to God in prayer. He knows the end from the beginning. We can always trust Him.
I loved Point Of Danger. It was an exciting, well executed read. Irene Hannon is a new author to me but I want more, more, more.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
