I love Irene Hannon! She knows how to write a good page turner! This book is no exception. This book is so completely relevant to what is going on in the world right now too. It is a great read....one you can't put down!
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Eve is a radio talk shop host and is getting threats, Brent is a new detective on the force and comes to check things out. she finds a bomb on the front porch, then her tires a slashed who is out to get her. Brent is trying to help her but things are getting worse. if you like suspense with, bomb threat, phone threats, and a neighbor bringing her treats as she fixes her new house. the story also deals with a man being manipulated by a reporter for a shot on the radio will he see through her or not? this is a well written story complex this is a new writer to me but i will check more of her work. i was given a copy of the book by netgalley but this is an honest review
Overall Point of Danger was enjoyable. I felt like it was a bit disjointed in the storytelling and the connections just weren't as well written as some of Irene's other books. I really enjoyed the main character Eve, her strength and passion, especially for her work. I think this book had a little too much predictability as well as letting you know what was going to happen. When I read suspense books, I prefer it to have a little more shock factor to it.
The subject of this book really hit home as so many of the subjects are things that we are currently dealing with in our world. Some may enjoy that, some may want to escape it. But I do think the viewpoints on the subjects were thought out, I just didn't think they all intertwined as much as I would have hoped.
I enjoyed the relationships between the sisters and I am looking forward to reading the other stories in this book to see their stories.
Radio talk show host Eve Reilly comes home and finds a bomb on her front porch. She was used to making waves on her radio show, but this was a whole new level. Eve enlists the help of the police and detective Brent Lange is assigned to her case. While all of the incidents that continue to happen to Eve seem to be unconnected, Brent can't shake the feeling that everything feels connected.
As events continue to happen, the danger continues to escalate until Brent and Eve realize someone is trying to silence her voice for good. Unless they can track down the root of all the problems, Eve could lose her life.
Point of Danger was a new spin on a suspense novel. I particularly loved the ending of the story as it was so completely unexpected for me. I could not put this story down! While I loved the suspense of this story, I think the romance between the two main characters could have potentially benefitted from having another book to pull together the romance. There was a lot of baggage that Brent and Eve brought to the story and it felt like it resolved just a little too quickly.
Wow! Irene Hannon has delivered a true mystery with Point of Danger. The character that I least expected to be the culprit really had us all fooled! This is going to be a great series, and I look forward to the next installment!
I usually like cozy style of mysteries over suspense books, but I the storyline of Point of Danger intrigued me. Eve Reily is a conservative talk show host that is threatened with a bomb on her front door and in other threats that follow. She is assigned Brent Lange as the detective on the case. The reader quickly sees the attraction at beginning of the book. Unfortunately, Brent was burned in an earlier relationship and believes that being single is safer due to his career.
I enjoyed the many characters we were introduced to in Point of Danger and was surprised at who was really in charge of the ordering the attacks on Eve. I am looking forward to the stories of Cate and Grace, Eve’s sisters, and hope that the author includes a follow up for Eve’s coworker, Meg.
I received a complimentary copy of Point of Danger from Revell through Net Galley, but all opinions are my own.
Eve is a radio show personality who has very strong views. When someone starts targeting her for those views she refuses to back down. Brent is the detective assigned to her case and would like for her to take a low profile until they find the person behind the threats but Eve will have none of that. Brent finds Eve to be engaging as well as beautiful but he gave up on love along time ago can Eve change his mind anymore than he can change hers. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC copy for my honest review.
This book started off with a a tense and dangerous situation that set up events for the remainder of the story. I wish that the rest of the book had lived up to the excitement of the first chapter. Not only did this book suffer from too many POV changes, but the excitement factor was severely lacking as the story progressed. So many characters and the reader had no idea of or how they connect to the story. The plot seemed to focus on the relationship or lack thereof of the two main characters. While both of the characters were amiable enough, they were really missing that relatability that I look for to really invest in a character. There were scenes that I think were supposed to read like romantic chemistry that just came across as awkward conversation and weird pauses. I didn’t hate this book, but I was not wowed by the characters or the plot.
Get ready for a fabulous new series by award-winning author Irene Hannon! Point of Danger, the first book in Irene Hannon’s new Triple Threat series, is filled with fascinating plot twists and a trio of strong, confident sisters who are highly supportive of each other.
When conservative and outspoken radio talk show host Eve Reilly finds a potential bomb on her front porch and the threats against her continue to increase, detective Brent Lange must determine who is out to silence Eve before it is too late.
Irene Hannon pens a tale that is extremely relevant to occurrences in our present society and creates a romance that is realistically portrayed as Brent struggles with issues from a past relationship even though he and Eve both are attracted to each other. When the mastermind is revealed, I was completely shocked. It is always fun when the author is able to keep me in suspense throughout the novel, and Irene Hannon delivers perfectly. She is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors, and I own every one of her romantic suspense books.
Point of Danger is highly recommended for fans of romantic suspense, and especially readers who enjoy books by authors such as Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Rachel Dylan. I can’t wait to read Eve’s sister Cate’s story in book 2 of the series, which releases in October 2021.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
"Point of Danger" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the first book in a new series, but it's also a stand-alone novel. The main characters were engaging, complex people who reacted realistically to events. I cared about what happened to them. I liked that Eve was sensible while not backing down in the face of the threats (which is a hard balance for authors to create!). The suspense was created by the physical danger to Eve while uncovering those who were harassing and threatening her. Eve used her words to build Brent up, which was especially important since Brent's last relationship left him feeling torn down. They admired each other's character as well as their looks.
The main characters were Christians, and we saw this through their actions, like how they treated people. Brent was worried that Eve wouldn't be able to handle the danger involved with his job. He learned how to trust God with Eve and that Eve could do the same rather than break under the worry about his safety. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable, exciting novel.
Point of Danger was written by Irene Hannon and is book one in the Triple Threat series.
Summary: Someone is trying to scare conservative radio personality Eve Reilly. Most of the time Eve is able to brush off threats, but when a mysterious package lands on her doorstop, she goes to the police.
Will Detective Brent Lange be able to figure out who is behind the threats and stop them before things get out of hand, or will Eve pay the price…with her life?
My Thoughts: I enjoyed this book. It is well-written, the characters are likeable, and there is plenty of suspense and plot twists and turns.
I thought the romance moved a little too fast, and some of the comments in the book made me think this was actually a book two and I had missed something.
Overall though, it is a fun, suspenseful read, and I liked it.
I would like to thank Revell for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!
I enjoyed "Point of Danger" by Irene Hannon. This is the first book in a new series called Triple Threat.
I had a little hard time getting into this book, but once I did, it was hard to put down. This book definitely had a huge twist for me. I never expected it to the end the way it did!
This book centers around a woman named Eve and her controversial talk show. The first thing that happens to her is a package showing up on her doorstep, which she is afraid is a bomb. The story just gets bigger from there in trying to find out who the culprit is. It will surprise you!
I definitely recommend this book to all who enjoy a good, clean, mystery. Irene Hannon is one of my favorite authors.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
BOOK REVIEW:
Point of Danger by @irenehannonauthor
This is the first book in a new series - the Triple Threat series and it is due out on October 6.
Just like ‘Airborne’ by @diannmillsauthor it’s another story that feels like it’s been ripped from this year’s headlines, but was written beforehand. This time it’s not a virus that features, but Antifa protests, although they are not the main focus of the book. Eve is.
Eve hosts a controversial conservative talk-back show and the backlash she receives seems to be escalating from angry words to something more dangerous. The book opens with her finding a ticking package on her doorstep and doesn’t slow down from there. It’s a complex story and fabulously written as always.
One of the things that make Irene Hannon’s books stand out to me is her ability to allow us to spend a big chunk of time inside her antagonists’ heads without giving away who it is at all. Having a complex understanding of why the bad guy is doing what they are doing is always a winner. And while she does the same in this one, and had me guessing who it was all the way to the end, this is where this book disappointed me a little. I felt like she set up some fascinating, complex characters, but they would have been even better if the book had been a tiny bit longer and fleshed out their development a little more.
Yes, I am really nit-picking here. Hannon is fave and I expect a lot! It was a fantastic read regardless, and there was an exception. Brent’s character development was amazing! Pretty sure he’s my favourite male lead I’ve read so far this year. He’s a wonderfully nuanced character, deeply traumatised but full of integrity.
Highly recommended!
Thanks @revellbooks and @netgalley for the ARC. I was not required to do anything except provide an honest review in return for the preview copy.
Radio talk personality is use to the threats, and her motto the show must go on. Until a package. comes to her doorstep. Detective Brent comes to investigate, it was a bomb. Eva is gutsy, determinded, that the harassment she is now getting won’t stop her. A lot of incidents are happening, the detective is sure they are connected. A new series with a good beginning, a love interest is with Eve and Brent. For those who like a good suspense. Given ARC by Net Galley and Revell.
A fast paced, heart pumping thriller! This book is full of suspense, danger, and emotion with vulnerable, relatable characters. A story that will stay with you long after the last page is finished.
Eve Reilly is thrust into danger when she finds a ticking package on her porch. Little does she know this is only the beginning of the danger about to take over her life.
Rookie detective Brent Lange happens to be the closest detective near when the bomb scare is called in. Upon meeting Eve, sparks fly between them. He must race against time to discover who is targeting Eve while wrestling with the emotions wrecking havoc on his relationship beliefs.
Eve’s sisters, Grace and Cate, each have very demanding careers of their own but when Eve is put in the bulls eye of danger, they come together as one. They have a strong bond that only grows stronger in the face of adversity.
This book tackles heavy topics such as terrorism, infidelity, and abuse. The topics are interwoven with each other and very well written making you feel as if it was ripped out of today’s headlines. It also gives new perspective in that appearances are not what they always seem to be.
This book is a must read and I am so excited for this series! I can’t wait to read Grace & Cate’s stories.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are completely my own.
This for me was an ok read. It’s very much a romance, drama and I found it somewhat lacking.
It’s certainly an easy read. There’s a strong female lead, who I really liked and her relationship with a lead detective who is investigating a series of threats was well handled and interesting.
I just sort of lost interest as the story went along and didn’t feel sufficiently engaged with any of the characters.
Having said all that, as an easy romantic thriller, you’ll love it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to preview.
Very intriguing story by Irene Hannon. Police detective Brent Lange needs to find out quickly who is targeting Eve Reilly, outspoken current events radio personality, to be able protect her. Brent has some baggage regarding women; can Eve break through? Heavy on characters and light on setting. Recommended romantic suspense.
Words hold great power. They can be used to build people up, share opinions, educate and even tear down. In this case, Irene Hannon has weaved a tale that is befitting our current times where words are being used as weapons, intentionally or not. The country is divided and there are intense opinions on both sides. Eve Reilly is a conservative radio host whose opinions are strong and she isn't afraid to fight for her right to free speech. Someone out there has it in for her...but who?
Brent Lange is a detective assigned to Eve's case. His broken childhood has left him wishing for more but resigned to being alone. As a result, his focus has served him well in his position and this case is no different. That is, until he meets Eve and slowly his heart begins to beat again.
There is a lot of intense action taking place in this story and moments where you get a hint of other players who may or may not play a part in the plot against Eve. I will admit that one of my first thoughts on the main antagonist was actually correct but I had been leaning another direction until further toward the end. I enjoyed the suspense although the subject of Antifa is a little to close to home with Portland, Oregon dealing with them constantly right now. I wouldn't generally pick something related to what is going on right now but was pleasantly surprised.
I totally recommend this book and any other Irene Hannon books. She writes suspense quite well and I haven't hated a single book I've read.
Well done. I thought the attraction between the two main characters was a bit overdone but the mystery was interesting and kept me reading to discover how it all ends.
“Point of Danger” by Irene Hannon is a fast paced, suspenseful romance. You are hooked by the first few pages as Eve is dealing with a suspicious package placed on her front porch. She in turn meets Brent, the detective in charge. He has hands full trying to keep Eve safe as continues her gutsy talk show. The plot has many twist and turns and some surprises. Very enjoyable book from one of my favorite authors.
I was given a copy by Revell but the opinions are my own.
