Another non-stop action/adventure/suspense filled ride with the heroes of the global rescue team! I'd definitely recommend reading these in order since the subplot of the each previous book leads into the main plot of the following. There's an overarching political intrigue that ties them together, and I appreciate that the books don't end on cliffhangers even if all the threads aren't wrapped up. Ham is united with his daughter at the end of the previous book, and I loved seeing his relationship with her and how easily he falls into the role of father. Signe is more difficult to understand, and her layers are revealed slowly throughout the book. The thought processes of the characters are a bit choppy, as that seems to be the author's writing style, but it was more prevalent in this book. The rocky relationship of team members Orion and Jenny is explored along with Ham and Signe, and just as tumultuous is unexpected natural disasters which provide contrast with the spy drama. It was satisfying to have the mysteries answered and also fun to see the cameos of SAR and special op friends and colleagues from the author's other series.

The main character of The Price of Valor, former Navy SEAL Hamilton Jones, is told that the love of his life, Signe Kincaid, is dead. Both of these principal characters came from dysfunctional families. They both ended up serving the government of the United States of America. Signe was actually working undercover for the CIA, a fact unknown to Hamilton Jones. After her sudden and mysterious disappearance, Hamilton is told she is dead. He, however, keeps sensing deep down that she is still alive, and that she is in deep trouble. His very instincts are to find and rescue her.
As if this is not a strong-enough premise for a gripping story, suddenly, a ten-year-old girl is thrown into the mix. She is delivered to Ham with the information that she is the daughter of Signe and Hamilton. What’s more complex—she’s a daughter he didn’t know existed! Now his angst is increased 100%. Ham wants to defend his daughter. He is desperate to find the wife he believes is in life-threatening danger. And he wants to keep his promises to remain faithful to the country he has vowed to protect at all costs. Here you truly see the price of valor!
The one problem I had was keeping track of what was truth and what was made up for either good or bad reasons. Nevertheless, that made for a challenging and gripping read, and I heartily endorse it for readers who enjoy suspense and spy stories.
The final installment of Susan May Warren's Global Search & Rescue series comes to a screaming close. There are explosions, snipers, a traitor, and always the main characters are staying one step ahead of evil doers.
Former Special Forces Hamilton Jones is sure his wife is dead, but when a little girl is delivered to his doorstep claiming to be his daughter along with a dire warning, he can't help but believe he may be wrong. Could the only woman he has ever loved have survived all these years? And if so, where has she been, and what has she been doing?
Signe Kincaid was captured by rebels while serving as an interpreter in the Ukraine. A CIA asset, Signe believes the things she has been forced to do have destroyed any chance she ever had of reconciling with Ham. On the trail of a traitor, she has no idea who she can trust, but she does know she's on a kill list and wants her daughter protected by the only man she ever loved. Sending Aggie to Ham nearly broke her heart, but when he finds her and insists on helping, the danger stalking her nearly takes them both down. Will they be able to find proof that what she has suspected for years is really happening, or will her enemies take her out before she can expose them?
This whole series has been crazy scary, and action-packed, but wow, this final book was a doozy. I loved the emphasis on forgiveness, and I loved that every woman was an equal to her man, both in intelligence, and in their physical abilities. Warren's books are always "MUST READS" for me, and this series proved why. Since each book builds on the one before, I strongly recommend reading the series in order from The Way of the Brave, to The Heart of a Hero, to finish with The Price of Valor. Making appearances are the Marshalls from Warren's Montana Marshalls series, yet another of her amazing series. If you haven't read her books and you enjoy romantic suspense, you need to add one of her series to your TBR stack.
The Price of Valor by Susan May Warren is brilliantly written romantic suspense. This novel will grip you quickly and never let go. The suspense is so vivid and never ending that it reads like a movie. It is like an epic action film. With profoundly deep characters with severe trauma, this book has incredible depth and points towards our hope in Christ. I particularly loved the crossover characters in this book, seeing some of the Marshalls appear in this book. I cannot recommend this book enough. Readers of romantic suspense will be delighted. So much suspense! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
Finally, the conclusion to this series that I have been eagerly anticipating! It felt good to finally get all my questions answered and all of my worries resolved. I absolutely loved the direction the author took Ham's storyline; very twisty with lots of room for conflict (in a good way!). This book is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and makes for a very wild ride from page one. All in all, if you enjoy romance and a huge dash of suspense and thrills, definitely check out this series!
The Price of Valor (Global Search and Rescue #3). By Susan May Warren. 2020. Revell (ARC eBook).
Ham and the team seek the truth about Ham’s wife, Signe, a CIA agent who was kidnapped in the middle east a decade ago has since spent the past decade in a terrorist organization. But during that time was Signe leveraging her position in the organization to pass intel to her CIA handler, or was she converted?
The first book I’ve read by Warren was the second book of this series, Jake and Aria’s story. Now that I’ve read The Price of Valor I like how this series packs together natural disasters, emotional roller coasters and a good deal of action. Ham was struggling coming to terms with being a dad in the last book and here he is fighting hard to be with Signe and finally bring his family together. There’s a volcano eruption in Sicily, childhood flashbacks between Ham and Signe, a rogue faction, Orion and Jenny’s relationship on the rocks, and an assassination attempt in D.C.
The Price of Valor and the Global Search and Rescue series are entertaining reads for those looking for action and multiple layers of suspense and faith in their romance.
A well-writtten and suspenseful story that grabs your attention and never lets go. The plot definitely takes center stage in this book. It’s quite the page-turner. The characters are interesting and easy to relate to. An excellent book written by a talented author.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
The Price of Valor is the third book in Susan May Warren's Global Search and Rescue series. I really enjoyed finally getting to read Ham and Signe's story, even if it wasn't a very easy read.
The story has suspense, danger, and romance. The characters had some deep issues that made them much more realistic and I felt for them.
All in all, The Price of Valor was a good read. I only recommend this series for mature readers as there are some elements that might not be suitable for younger readers.

The Price of Valor gives me another reason why I love to read books by Susan May Warren. This third book from her Global Search and Rescue was a great read. Five stars.
Finally got to read this one! This has not been my best year for reading...
It was a great book to wrap up the series. It wrapped up perfectly...maybe too perfectly.
I really love Ham. He is so incredible. It was hard to learn more about his childhood, but neat to see how much he overcame.
I loved Signe. She was so impressive. Such a brave and resilient woman.
There were times when the action was a little too over the top with everything working out in the midst of a terrible natural disaster, but that is fiction for you.
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and this is my honest review.
The story gets interesting as Hamilton Jones arrives in a small town in Sicily. In the distance can be seen one of the world’s more active volcanoes, Mt. Etna. It had been quiet for the last couple of years - that day was not going to be one of them. In the midst of an erupting volcano, Hamilton (aka Ham) would need to find his wife and discover where she had been for the last 10 years. Her story was that she was deep undercover with the CIA - but was she working for or against the American government. The lives of Ham, his wife, their friends, and the newly elected President, would depend on the answer.
Susan May Warren has done a marvelous job of combining the thrills of a natural disaster, the excitement of working a CIA op, the dangers of protecting the President, and following the progress of two romances about to go south. Along with this, she has woven the wonderful love of Jesus as He impacts the lives of people’s lives.
The book could easily find a place on the shelf of the church library; I would like to see it on the public library shelf as well - though some public librarians would disagree. Any reader looking for an international thriller that moves from both rural and urban Minnesota to Sicily to Washington DC would find the book satisfying. Though no hint was given, more books with this set of characters would be welcome.

Susan May Warren delivers a show stopper once again! The Price of Valor is book 3 in the Global Search and Rescue series. The main character, Hamilton, has appeared in many other books as a secondary character. Readers will finally get the details of Ham's history with his wife, Signe and his daughter. With many heart stopping moments, a natural disaster and the spy details, you will not be able to stop turning pages. I highly recommend reading the previous two books and then finishing with The Price of Valor.
Warren has done such a great job on this series. I have eagerly be awaiting this third installment.
We've all been desperate for more Ham, and this book does not disappoint. From the opening pages, until the very last word, this book will keep you flipping the pages at top speed. I couldn't put it down!
Natural disasters, corruption, sabotage, and so much more, I'm not sure words can capture the intensity of this book. Even with all of that, you still get a well rounded story with the delightfully crafted characters we've grown to love. You'll even see a few from Warren's past stories! All of the mystery of Ham's missing wife Signe is finally revealed, but will they get the happy ending they were each hoping for? You'll have to read it for yourself to find out!
I always lose track of the exact number of Susan May Warren books I’ve read but I’ve read every single one of her fiction books and always eagerly await her next release. This one I was especially anxious for because I have been intrigued by Ham since he first appeared in the Montana Marshalls series. I really love his character, the way he truly lives out his faith never letting the trails he’s gone through break his trust in God was absolutely inspiring. He loves fiercely and will literally move heaven and earth for the people he cares about. So many times I questioned the way he kept forgiving and extending grace and trust but it was actually a beautiful picture of the way God is with us.
Signe took me awhile to warm up to I’m not going to lie. She was forever doing the exact opposite of what I wanted her to do and I wanted to scream at her sometimes. But as you really got to see the way all the things she’d endured had affected every part of her and really done a number on her mind it allowed you to understand more and to empathize with why she was the way she was. At her core though she just wanted what was best for those she loved even if she was going about it the wrong way. And Ham’s persistent pursuit of her and constant pointing her to Jesus was just what she needed to break through the lies and I loved watching that unfold.
We also got some more of Jenny and Orion’s story that had some surprising moment for sure! And all of the other characters from this series and the Montana Marshall’s that were involved in the story were fun to catch up with!
I was hooked in watching everything unfold, from the crazy natural disasters to the intrigue of the spy world! And I loved that we finally got some closure on the storyline that has carried over between the two series.
Fans of Susan May Warren will definitely enjoy this installment and if Signe drives you nuts at the start know you aren’t alone and you’ll feel differently by the end!
Susan May Warren is an excellent author, known for her Christian romance book series. "The Price of Valor" is the third book in the Global Search and Rescue series. This book continues the story of Hamilton and Signe. I believe I have read about Hamilton in a previous novel, and was excited to read the end of his story. Unfortunately, the romance between Signe and Hamilton fell flat for me, and it felt like she kept pushing him away unnecessarily. I also had a hard time following Signe and her spy mission in Ukraine. I think that reading the first two books in the series would probably have helped me enjoy this book more.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
WOW! If you want a book that really draws you in Susan May Warren the author to read. Her writing is spot on with her readers. Really enjoyed the thrill of adventure that Ham and Signe went through to find each other. Keeps you up to find our it ends. Having friends from other books to show up to help was a wonderful surprise. Can’t wait to see what the wonderful author gives her devotes fans next,
A thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the Global Search and Rescue Series!
I went into this book knowing that I would love it, and I wasn't disappointed. Hamilton Jones has been a supporting cast member, and friend in the previous installments of this series, so I was thrilled to finally get to read his story, which began in the background of the earlier books in the series, or if you go back even farther--he makes an appearance in a companion series also by this author. So to say this was a long time coming would be an understatement.
I loved amazing characters and strong sense of tension throughout, Ham is determined to do everything he can to give his newfound daughter a home and family. Ham has a lot of experience in a tight situation, and is more than willing to go to great lengths for his daughter and former love. I also really loved how prominently featured many of my favorite characters from previous books are featured, and if you have read as many books by this author as I have, than you will recognize more than a few familiar faces. Ham is a loyal friend and hardworking, he has held onto his faith through many tough things, I I like how he encourages his teammates and friends.
Overall, a fantastic read and satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, with great characters, strong faith and shocking revelations. Nearly impossible to put down, with a very climactic ending. Highly recommend!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I love the author's writing style. I've been reading her past two series and its fun that they all follow family and/or friends so you get to continue on with their stories.
The Price of Valor did not disappoint, I loved getting to know more about Ham's story and where he's going I highly recommend this book, I know a few people I will be buying copies for.
