The Price of Valor is Susan May Warren at her best. This is the story of Ham and Signe, who were childhood friends and later, sweethearts. Following a marriage and deployment, Ham made his mark on the world as a SEAL and, unbeknownst to Ham, Signe joined the CIA with hopes of helping to keep America safe from terrorists. Many years pass before they see each other again, and with those years come secrets. Betrayals, intrigue, truths and lies, guilt and regrets surface as Ham and his team try to locate the true source of danger to the free world. The pivotal point in the story happens at the presidential Inaugural Balls. Will the good guys win? Will Ham and Signe get their HEA ending?
The Price of Valor shares the message of forgiveness and the steadfastness of God's promises, as well as the hope for new beginnings. Excellent storytelling with a strong plot, including heroes and heroines, come together in a riveting suspense worthy of 5 stars!
Goodness! This is another action packed and exciting addition to the Global Search and Rescue series. In this story, we read more of Hamilton Jones' story and see his wife and CIA agent Signe as she is on the run in Europe. Ham and a few of his team are sent to try to find a CIA agent, called Three, who has a list of agents that if it gets in the wrong hands could be bad. It is thought that it might be Signe. As Ham, Orion, and his girlfriend Jenny reach Sicily, a volcano hits the town and everything goes into survival mode and the team is separated at the time. Ham is able to find Signe and they are together as they fight their way through the event while Orion and Jenny manage to find each other. What a wild time they have getting through this disaster, avoid bad guys, and figure things out. There is a rogue factor in the CIA somewhere. Signe doesn't want Ham there as she has a job to do. But whose side is she on? The US or terrorists? Orion and Jenny love each other but are having troubles too. Problems don't end when they evidentially make it back on US soil. Signe's past is quite complicated and I won't get into. But somehow things are involved in the Presidential candidates. This is complicated plot with twists and turns and has multiple layers that go on to the very end. As in SMW style, this is an action packed page turner with plenty of suspense sprinkled with faith, romance, and life lesson.

Whew! Another thriller of a ride!
I am thoroughly loving this newest installment in Susan May warrens global search and rescue series. This one has loads of danger, including an earthquake followed by a tsunami.
I love Ham. And eventually, Signe, although I wasn’t quite sure what I thought of her at first.
Ham is just the perfect hero. I loved his story. I found it quite intriguing to read more of his back story, about his marriage, and just get to know more about him.
Signe was also a real intrigue. As I already said, I wasn't quite sure if I liked her. After all, she's the one that ran off on Ham, and left him thinking she was dead. She deserted her daughter. Why? She'd better have a pretty good reason...
Susan May Warren does such a fantastic job at bringing these characters to life, giving them believable stories, actions, and much more.
I also love how this ties in with the Montana Marshalls series! Finishing up that series left us with some unanswered questions, and this book neatly answers those for us. And not only that, it also brings back some of favorite characters.

The Price of Valor by Susan May Warren 4.5 stars
This is the third book in the series and oh my it’s very exhilarating. I felt like I had to help Signe too and to see if someone was following her. Ham and Aggie at the fair is a nightmare for parents to experience. I thought those are tough enough to experience.
I know they are former SEALS or a spy who knows how to fight but then Mount Etna erupts! Wow! Ms. Warren knows how to make your heart beat faster than normal. Who can survive a natural disaster? But despite all these action packed events, I love how some characters talk about their faith. I agree that forgiveness is a gift and it frees the people involved. I like the friendship formed in Ham’s team. If you like conspiracy theories with a touch of romance, this book is for you.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

The Price of Valor is book three of the Global Search and Rescue series, and we finally get to read Ham's story. Author Susan May Warren does not disappoint!
After Ham finds out he is father to a ten year old girl, he knows his wife Signe is still alive. Why has she been in hiding all these years? Why is he just now finding out about their daughter? Determined to find them both, bring them home and keep them safe, he embarks on a much bigger challenge than anticipated.
Meanwhile, Signe has been on a deep undercover assignment that has gone way too far! In a desperate move to protect her daughter, Signe sends her home to the father she has never known - and the husband who has believed Signe to be dead all this time. Riddled with shame and guilt, Signe has little hope for her life moving forward. She just wants their daughter to be safe and for truth to come to light. She figures there is very little chance Ham would want her after everything. But Ham and his God are both in the business of offering grace and forgiveness.
This book is very fast paced and will keep you turning the pages long into the night. We love the characters and Susan is one of our favorite authors! The only drawback is that at times this book was a little hard to follow - with so many things coming together at once, the reader must also have a good knowledge of the first two books in the trilogy and the series prior. It made our heads spin a little, but fans of Susan May Warren who have read all of these will be sure to enjoy this one as well.
This author pulls out all the stops in this third installment of the Global Search & Rescue series. She takes readers on a fast moving, powerful, high-octane Navy Seal adventure you will not soon forget. From the start the characters and their situations pull you in and grab your heart. Because the author has had readers in the midst of all these characters lives from the beginning, I was hooked. I stayed up burning the midnight oil on this one. This is a nail biting romantic, suspenseful read taking in natural disasters to chasing assassins in order to get top secret information at any cost.
I like how the author showed flash backs to when Signa and Ham met and went to school together as they deal with horrific situations in current time. I liked how the author weaves a natural thread of faith throughout this story. She does well to weave the element of family and all its struggles too. Another injured couple on this team is Jenny and Iron they have serious issues to hash out and realize there is no perfect time to share their thoughts. A family friend, Scarlett tells Jenny, “Iron has hero written all over him. He is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful--- “Generous, giving, and brave men I know. And more. He’s a man of faith, he’s a rescuer, he would be a great husband- and father…” She urged Jenny to stop running away. Just because Iron is not fulfilling her expectations does not mean he is not a good guy. Scarlett wants her to slow down and take another look.
This novel includes all the characters readers have gotten to know in the other books. Which makes this third installment all the richer and heart-warming to read. But if you have not read any of the other books’ readers will not feel lost. But they will be curious to know more. They will want to go back and see where all these characters have come from. I was so captivated by this non-stop action adventure I had to remember to breath.
This novel would work great for your next book club pick. I look forward to having my book club discussion on this novel. Wow! My head is still reeling from this incredible, extraordinary read.

Knowing that his wife, Signe, was dead completely devastated former Navy SEAL Hamilton Jones. He was blessed when his daughter, Aggie, who he did not know about arrived. Aggie is ten years old and tells him that Signe is still alive and has been held all these years. No matter what he has to do, he will rescue Signe and bring her home. I had read the previous book in this series, but this one was more difficult to read. There were so many characters coming in and out of the story, that it was hard to know who was who and how they were related. I always make brief notes, i.e. character names and relationships, etc., as I read so that if the story gets complicated that I can somehow follow along, but I was still lost some of the time. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Once again, Susan May Warren has penned a story that is impossible to put down once you’ve picked it up. I don’t even open one of her books now unless I know I have a couple of free hours ahead of me to devote to reading, because she reels me in, hook, line, and sinker, every time. And not only is this book the conclusion to the Global Search and Rescue series, but it also ties off the thread that was left dangling at the end of the Montana Marshalls series, so I had a lot of investment in this story before I’d even turned to the first page.
Ham is a hero among heroes. Hardly surprising, considering he’s a former SEAL and now heads up a global search and rescue team, but I’m referring specifically to his character in this instance. Here is a man who has only recently found out that not only is the love of his life not dead but he has a daughter he never knew about. Signe’s broken his heart, stolen the first ten years of his daughter’s life from him, and is still on the run, and yet this is his attitude: “She was my best friend and I loved her. I still do. I don’t know why she did what she did, but I’m going to forgive her. … Because the kind of love that God wants us to have for each other—especially our wives—is sacrificial. And sacrifices hurt. Ask Jesus.”
Wow. Of course, their story is a whole lot more complicated than simply forgiving and moving on (as if that’s easy anyway!), including surviving a natural disaster (I thought I’d experienced every man-versus-nature situation known to man in Warren’s previous books, but this one proved me wrong) and working out who the real traitors are without losing their lives in the process. Basically, it’s all the high-stakes action and emotion I know I’m going to get every time I pick up one of Susan May Warren’s books. Bring on the next series!
Susan May Warren is without a doubt one of my top three favorite authors, and I know when I pick up one of her books I am about to be taken on an adventure. While I have loved many of her series and found them all to be exciting, Global Search and Rescue might just be the biggest adventure yet. The series has spanned the globe and seen more drama than one could imagine... and I absolutely love it. The Price of Valor is the third book in that series and once again takes us on a crazy adventure. While you could likely be read as a standalone, I personally wouldn't recommend it. The characters are previously introduced in the other books, and while some background is given, I don't think you'd get the full appreciation for this group of characters without knowing their full stories.
The Price of Valor focuses on Ham's story. The story picks up right where the previous book ended. Ham has recently discovered that not only does he have a daughter he didn't know about, but he learns that his wife whom he'd believed to be dead for many years was in fact alive. He sets out across the globe to track her down. The adventure that follows will have you at the edge of your seat. While I personally think that I enjoyed some of the other characters from the previous books a bit more, Ham and Signe's certainly is one unlike any other. The story was larger than life, and I loved every minute.
If you're looking for an epic adventure without leaving your home, this is certainly one book to check out.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
Romance clean, contemporary; Series, but stand alone read
Ham and Signe's story along with a cast of many other characters from other books, not only in this series, but others, was a suspense-filled ride, gorgeous details, and beautiful moments fraught with tension and longing. This was the perfect book for the ending of this series (I think?), and my favorite of all the books in this series. SMW has honed her craft over the years and knows how to pull together the characters, sub characters, and the action/bad guys into a perfectly crafted novel that will leave you on the edge of your seat, and still fill you with hope, and faith in God's goodness to lead you to your heart home and faith. Loved this read! Of all the books in this series, this was the finest. So many threads came together here that made it even more perfect as a fan of her writing. I do think that do to the suspense setting, you can still read the book without knowing the other threads. This was a don't put it down, hold on to the edge of your seat with intervals of hope and peace, as the knot unwound to the final conclusion. Strong characters, lots of suspense, gorgeous settings in Europe and in the US, plus faith, and of course, family, friends, and romance.
So grateful to the publisher for letting me read an ARC via NetGalley. My opinions are my own, although I will characterize this by saying, I am a fan!
Another thrilling offering from suspense pro Susan May Warren. While writing this review of Price of Valor, I had to go back and check my reviews of Warren’s previous books to make sure I wasn’t using the same lavish praise phrases, but you could read any of my reviews of any of her books and apply it to Price of Valor, because her books are just that consistently good and I loved this book just as much as all her other books.
Price of Valor is the third book in the Global Search and Rescue series. I recommend reading the series in chronological order, as the characters arcs overlap the books and it is much easier to follow their backstories by reading the lead-in to their stories in the previous books. Each book is as exciting and engaging as the last, so it’s no hardship to read them all.
Price of Valor features Ham, leader of the search and rescue company, ex-military, and father - surprise. He never knew he and his wife had a daughter, nor that his wife actually survived the incident he thought she had died in. Instead, she and his daughter have been living in a terrorist’s training camp. Another surprise - his wife is CIA operative. Now, she has sent their daughter to live with Ham while she tries to bring down the head of the terrorist organisation. Ham wants to help but he can’t risk his new-found daughter’s safety, nor does he know if Signe is the same woman he married all those years ago or if life undercover has changed her.
Alongside Ham and Signe’s story, we get to continue the story of characters from book one and two, as well as quite a few appearances from characters from a range of Warren’s books, from Deep Haven to Marshall Family series.
The romance is delicious as Ham and Signe tentatively try to restore their relationship while still unsure if they can trust each other. There is also a lot of hurt and pain they have to work through, both infliction upon each other and from surviving horrific events. There is also a high incident rate of natural disasters - where this team goes, disaster follow, or maybe it’s the other way around. In any case, while also trying to outrun the bad guys, they also have to outrun earthquakes, volcano eruptions and tsunamis - and that’s just in the first few chapters.
I highly recommend this series for readers who enjoy suspense and romance, all with lots of action and an underpinning of Christian faith. Can’t wait to read the end book.
The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.
The story flows so seamlessly that I never realized that this book is the third in a series though a first by the author for me personally. Ham or "Hamburglar" as his Signe calls him is a man of deep faith, a natural leader, a retired seal. When his daughter shows up in his life and he finds out that his wife long presumed dead is actually alive and on the run with critical intelligence all bets are off. He and a small team are dispatched to bring her in safely.
Signe would like nothing better than to come home but she knows that all roads that lead home are closed to her. She is a deep cover operative who was embedded in a terrorist camp where she stumbled upon treason at the highest level of the government. She is being hunted for the intelligence that she carries as well as what she knows in her head. Having betrayed Ham once before, can she trust that he and his off the books team will believe her truths?
What would you do if you found out that your wife had lied to you, married the biggest terrorist in the world and given birth not only to your daughter of whom you knew nothing but a son during the time that you mourned her death? Oh and if that's not enough all evidence plot to her having been turned and an enemy to your country and a disavowed CIA agent who's been lying to you since she re-connected with you? It is enough to shake a man's faith.
Since I have not read stories by this author before I don't know if Ham's character is the one with deep faith or the author writes Christian romance but the story is interspersed with tests of faith for each of the supporting characters but definitely Ham. Various supporting characters show up along the way like beacons reminding Ham of his faith when he begins to falter. These snippets of wisdom drive the story line much to my personal enjoyment.
I absolutely cannot wait to read more stories in this series as well as go back and catch the ones I missed.
Can he forgive her? Can she forgive herself?
How do you top a white-out rescue on top of Denali and a terrorist attack? Why, with a category five hurricane and a terrorist kidnapping attempt, of course. But how do you top that? Why, with a volcano and a terrorist assassination plot, of course. Seriously, I had no clue how Susan May Warren could possibly up the ante after the last book in the Global Search And Rescue series, but, then I read The Price Of Valor and I found out exactly how.
Prior to the Global Search And Rescue series I had only read Susan May Warren's contemporary romance. I had no clue just how good her romantic suspense could be. Believe me, she aces both genres like nobody's business. And The Price Of Valor is the icing on this truly scrumptious suspense cake.
The Price Of Valor is the book that I've been waiting for and anticipating the most. Like Ham, I just HAD to know the truth about Signe and find out if forgiveness would triumph and if they would get their chance at a happy ever after. More like a spy thriller than just standard romantic suspense, the book was all I had hoped for and more. I'd swear that author Susan May Warren could have ripped parts of the story from today's headlines. Kinda scary when truth and fiction are so close...
In my opinion you can't miss by choosing The Price Of Valor from Susan May Warren as your next read. You might even want to bump it up to the top of your TBR stack...
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
This is book three in the Global Search and Rescue Series. It is somewhat of a stand alone book, however you miss a lot of history that adds so much meaning to this book. Therefore I would suggest reading book one, The way of the Brave, and book two, The heart of a hero first. They are all good reads and you will enjoy this book even more by reading them in order.
We reconnect with the Global search and Rescue team, this series does have specific people that each book will center around, however they really focus on the entire team and many different aspects of the many characters. I really enjoy reconnecting with this entire team.
Book three focus' on the handsome former Navy SEAL Hamilton Jones. He is still in love with his wife, Signe Kincaid, even though he has thought her dead for many years. Ham and Sig have many battles to face and overcome before they can actually see if they have a second chance.
This book is full of suspense, mystery, drama, romance and so much more. I can see this series made into a TV series. I am not sure if there are anymore books left in this series or not but I would enjoy reading more about this team. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.
The Price of Valor is the third book in Susan May Warren’s Global Search and Rescue and the high-octane action commences early and keeps pace throughout the book. The story itself is entertaining and gripping, but I struggled a little with the referees to previous characters that I haven’t read from other series. I was also a little uncomfortable with the heavy religious element of this book, as that is not something I enjoy when reading romantic suspense. This is the first book that has made me realise that Ms Warren’s books should be read in a particular order, and that this information should be conveyed to readers. Overall, a great story, but too much back history and past characters were integrated into this book.
I absolutely love being the world of Susan May Warren's characters. I can't wait to see their faith, to hear their fears and watch them walk through them. I love that, in this story, two of the characters are going through a similar struggle. Why do I love this? Because when you have two characters approach a similar issue, you don't get preaching; you get perspective. You get characters talking out how to overcome the problem. And you get to see how a similar issue can appear in different ways in different people; one problem, two experiences. It really helps you, as a reader, take a look at your own life to see how you can relate, and how you can best overcome and live the full-life God has for you.
So, do I recommend this book? YES! I give it 4.5 stars. It's memorable. It's exciting. It's engaging. There was one part at the end that I got a little caught up in trying to remember who all the "cast" was but the story itself is still something I think is time well spent. I am glad to have another experience with these amazing characters and wish I knew them in real life--I think we'd have some great conversations.
(Thank you, Revell and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. It was everything I hoped it would be. My review is my own opinion and not required by either of the aforementioned groups.)
Former Navy SEAL Hamilton Jones thought that the love of his life was dead. But when a girl claiming to be his daughter shows up with a dire message from his wife, Ham knows he will stop at nothing to find her and bring her home.
Kidnapped by rebels while serving as an interpreter in Ukraine, Signe Kincaid has spent the past decade secreting out valuable information about Russian assets in the US to her CIA handler. Fearing for her daughter after being discovered as an operative, Signe sends her to Ham for safekeeping. She's ready to give her life for her country, and she can hardly expect Ham to rescue her after breaking his heart over and over.
When Ham discovers the reason Signe has kept her distance, he must choose between love for his wife and love for the nation he has vowed to protect. Will he save the many? Or the few?
This was a great conclusion to this series. It would be helpful to read the other books in this series to fully know what is going on in this book. There is also a conclusion for who is the traitor that was spoken of in the Montana Marshall series. Also, a good series and should be read.
Ham is faced with a lot of choices in this book. Most of all does he forgive Signe for what she has done to him by keeping his daughter a secret from him.
I enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend to all mystery buffs.
I was given this book by Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
THE PRICE OF VALOR is the third book in the series. It is not necessary to read these books in order but fans will want to in addition to a few others of Ms Warrens' books.
Recently I read another author's series with Navy Seals as main characters and I kind of scoffed at the idea that real life people would be super heroes, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Yet this book (series) stars the same type of characters.
Full of nonstop action, adventure, and romance, this is a book you won't want to put down. It almost made me cry in a few spots, and the faith message is superb.
Available for preorder. I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.
The Price of Valor
by Susan May Warren
Book 3 in the Global Search and Rescue series
Rating: 4.5/5
Release date: October 6, 2020
Susan May Warren never disappoints! If you need some romantic suspense and mystery in your life, read this book! I highly recommend reading the first two books in this series before reading this third one because you'll understand so much more. I don't think it's absolutely necessary but you'll be better acquainted with the characters and the background.
Hamilton Jones and Signe Kincaid grew up as childhood sweethearts but life and their careers took them away from each other. When Ham realizes that his wife is alive and they have a daughter, he knew nothing would stop him from trying to find out the truth. Signe is a CIA operative who's been in deep cover for years and hopes to save some lives including her daughter's. Ham is hurt and angry and trying to build a relationship with his daughter who he missed growing up. He desperately wants to believe and forgive Signe for all that she did but he is unsure. Can he trust his wife or will he lose everything he's sought to protect?
The author has a couple stories going on at once - which is why I recommend reading the other books so you can get more background on the other couple. The story deals with disasters near and far and I always enjoy how everything comes together at the end. The author is so clever in her craft and I can't wait to read more from her.
Throughout the book there is a message of faith and forgiveness. Signe feels so much shame for her past and finds it hard to accept forgiveness. She and Ham both have lots of baggage from their pasts and while Ham stayed faithful, Signe had strayed without Ham there to guide her. I can only imagine the psychological ramifications of maintaining a deep cover while keeping oneself relevant and sane. Compartmentalizing becomes your friend. I love when authors deal with real-life issues in an organic way.
I also loved seeing characters from other series that the author has written. That was a lot of fun!
I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of romantic suspense and high stakes espionage.
My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
