The photographs were beautiful and extremely appetizing. This is so important for a cookbook and I am always surprised when I find a book without pictures. I do wish there were more pictures in this book though.
Some of the standout unique recipes include bang bang shrimp and grilled shrimp kabobs with pesto. It was also full of classics too like crab cakes, fish & chips and paella. I can't wait to get cooking.
Thank you Callisto Media and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks so much to Netgalley and Callisto publishing for a copy to read and offer my opinion. I’m not a huge seafood lover but you had me at cookbook....what can I say? The book boasts health benefits from eating seafood multiple days a week but the cost is what sets me back. What I can say is the book bases it recipes off basic pantry foods which is a huge help.
What did I like? I love salmon so the section on salt water vs fresh water or farmed caught my eye. It has a detailed explanation which helps you sort out what to buy and etc. Seafood and brain booster has always had a direct correlation so that was also very educational. I also loved the glossary. Their a ton of fish that I wasn’t quite sure what was what so this was also very helpful. The recipes were all very detailed as well and also an occasional pictures. I like a ton of pictures in my recipe books and while I wished there were more it wasn’t too bad.
Would I recommend or buy? This will be a huge hit with seafood lovers. I try to eat seafood a couple of times a week and I thought the range of recipes were great. It’s limited to just seafood so your going to have to love all kinds to get the full use here.
Thoughts for the author? Wonderful book with some lovely pictures. Congratulations on your release!
This book is great for the seafood lover! If you don't like all types of seafood then this book may not be right for you. It starts out describing how to catch fresh fish. I enjoyed reading about different seafood recipes and can't wait to try them!
Thanks to Callisto Media, Rockridge Press, and NetGalley!
This is an excellent cookbook. Great variety of recipes, simple, easy to find ingredients, and real pictures so you know what the dish is supposed to look like (pet peeve of mine when you're cooking blind and have no idea what the finished product should look like). Great tips on finding, storing and cooking as well.
