Thank you for the opportunity to read Dairy-Free Meal Prep. Unfortunately, I did not finish reading the book before it was archived in June 2020. I do not plan to finish the book at this time.
I loved and needed this cookbook. As someone who like different good options and has lactose intolerance in the family, this book was great for that. The different options and ideas really helped with our meals for each month.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Tbh not super into dairy free but not against it and its always good to know such things for when you run out of milk lmao, but once i started reading this i was floored! read several meal preps and i just really love how this one is laid out and the recipes all sound awesome (and involve cheese!!)
I LOVED this book!!
I have been diary free for years (Allergic) and I find it is so easy to continuously make the same things over and over because it is what I know. Silvana Nardone gave me new life! There are so many new recipes for me to try, and now I do not have to hit or miss with conversions. They are done for me, and while I have not tried all of the recipes Yet, I am looking forward to making more of them. It has become the highlight of my week (I am making one new one each week). I highly recommend this book to anyone trying to live dairy free.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars for the easy to follow recipes, the great photos, and new to me recipes.
* I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.
The cookbook looked promising and I was excited to try some of the recipients. I cannot give an accurate rating of the cookbook because it was archived a couple days after I downloaded it. Since I lost access to it, I was unable to actually try ad recipes in it which is disappointing.
Thanks so much to Callisto publishing for a copy to read and give my honest opinion. So dairy free meal prep with a ideal plan and gluten free additional information. I’ve seen a ton of dairy free books lately that include gluten free as part of an intolerance.... a non spoken if your suffering dairy issues your probably suffering from an gluten intolerance as well.
What did I like? I’m a simple person.... I’m of a kind to just make my normal recipes and just leave out dairy. The recipes had little to no pictures and I don’t have knowledge of the recipes...meaning not familiar. The meal prep was different too. I expected to learn how to prep head so I’m not always scrambling to make meals. I’m not a huge leftover person. Sometimes it’s good and others I can’t stomach eating leftovers.
Would I recommend or buy? I read a kindle version that was not very kindle friendly and didn’t format properly. So to say the least the book was choppy so it makes it hard to recommend a book that gives you very little enjoyment due to lack of pictures and format.
Nice Cookbook
Meal prep books are certainly popular these days. It is understandable. We are so busy that sometimes it's just easier to stop and pick up something while we're out. But you have so much more control when you make your food yourself. And sometimes that control is needed, such as when a family member has a food intolerance. That was the impetus for this book. The author is the mother of a dairy-intolerant child. She has a background as a baker and food magazine editor, so she knows a little about cooking and baking! And you can tell by the recipe quality, both the combination of flavors and how well-written and precise they are.
The book opens with an introductory section that first looks at why choose to go dairy-free—it doesn’t have to be because of intolerances—and then why meal prep. Her list of issues that one can have with dairy resonated with me as I'm a vegetarian who strives to be vegan most of the time. She also goes into detail about the ingredients to avoid and possible problematic ones as well as the staples you should have on hand. The recipe and meal prep part of the book is divided into two broad sections: six weeks of meal prep plans and a section of bonus and staple recipes. While she does say that you can use store-bought dairy substitutes, like nut milks and vegan cheese, she has recipes for some of these things, like cashew milk and Parmesan in the Staples section.
The meal prep plans are bunched into two-week increments, progressively adding more recipes to prep. Each meal plan is designed for one person to have five meals, so if you have more people in your family or like leftovers, you can just increase the ingredient amounts. But this is perfect if only one person in your family needs to eat dairy-free while the rest of the family does not. Each meal plan has a shopping list and an overall game plan for your meal prep session. Then she lists each recipe followed by storage and reheating suggestions as well as some ways to alter the recipe to make it a little different. Many recipes are simple but still sound tasty, while others would have a complex layering of flavors and textures.
The staple and bonus recipe section offers so many more recipes. As one with vegan aspirations, I love her staple recipes for dairy alternatives. I'll certainly be making some of those. This bonus section will certainly give you ideas for recipes to mix and match in your own prep plans or ones to substitute and existing ones. All in all, I thought this was a very well done book with straightforward meal prep plans and delicious-sounding recipes.
Thank you for taking the guess work out of how to create a dairy free meals!! The book is a wealth of information with step buy step ways to create a easy meal prep. As a mom with 4 kids who never stop meal prep is a must so that I do not forget to eat. Dairy free is a must due to dairy allergy. Which makes this book a winner in my book.
If you are starting off in the meal prep area of life and have no idea where to start THIS IS A MUST!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for advance copy of Silvana Nardone Dairy Free Meal Prep
If you love dairy, and want recipes incorporating substitutes for the dairy products you love, this is the cookbook for you. I love that it starts with why cutting dairy from a person’s diet is beneficial and a starter guide to meal prepping. The instructions include charts and how-to’s, shopping lists, and step by step instructions to manage time wisely while you prep for the week. If you are new to meal-prepping, it starts with easier weeks and progressively becomes more complex as you get used to meal-prep. There are extra recipes in the back for once you complete the starter weeks.
This cookbook is perfect for anyone who has a dairy allergy and wants to meal prep. The recipes are delicious. But, in addition to the recipes, there are tons of helpful tips on meal prepping. I learned a lot from the meal prepping portion of this cookbook.
This book is a great staple for meal prepping. I see this book as more of a meal prep guide than a dairy-free guide. Yes, the recipes are dairy-free but the emphasis is meal prepping. The recipes are set up for meal prepping and there are even very specific instructions to follow during the meal prep. I enjoyed this book, by it felt a bit overwhelmed but the detailed meal prep instructions.
Thank you to Callisto Media, Rockridge Press, and NetGalley!
