This is the first book in The Duke’s Pact series. Six older Dukes put extreme pressure on their six male heirs to marry. The six male heirs seem determined to join together and resist. The first to go down is Edwin who finds Cass so refreshing and unusual that he can’t help himself. I can’t wait to read the next one! I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Press for my honest review.

This was a sweet story about a groupf of men whose fathers want them married as soon as possible. The hero is the first of this group to meet his potential bride. The heroine is put off by the hero's petulant demeanor at their initial encounter. As they meet at subsequent parties, they realize that their initial meeting was not correct. But by that time the hero had already had plans to exaggerate the heroine's unconventional, but not immoral, behavior. She had been taught to ride and shoot fowl with her father because her mother passed away when she was very young. This is her Season and she is at her aunt's home. When the rumors are stretched out of believability and spread over the ton, the heroine e heads for home. Even though the group of men have tried to mitigate their actions, the gossipers are only to happy to blame the heroine for everything.
This is a sweet story with no sensuous scenes. It is a nice story about a girl who enjoys parties and shooting, and a man who was very dishonorable. I give it 5 stars. It is not the most exciting read, but it is well written and there are no dangling story lines. The spelling and grammar are correct. 5 stars and I recommend reading.

Despite what you might suspect from the cover and title, this was a surprisingly wholesome read. Atmospheric and charming and every bit as authentic to the Regency era as can be, this was everything I wanted in a historical romance. A smartly paced plot with well defined characters set against the backdrop of the infamously critical London society. Everything about the narrative felt deliberate, structured, balanced by plot buildup and inner monologue. Of the many historical romance titles I've read, this one had dialogue that felt most fitting and natural for the era. The romance was sweet and a rather reigned in depiction of courtship in comparison to others within the genre - and for that I was pleasantly surprised.

Not sure what to make of this historical romance. I was initially drawn to it's promise of a fiesty, independent heroine that would resist marriage for convenience and find through a slow burn friendship true love with a Duke. The only thing delivered was a fiesty heroine who only free more stubborn as the story progressed while Edwin turns into a smitten fool after he realizes he likes her willfulness. They both acted childish and it didn't make for an entertaining novel.
