Thank you to NetGalley and Zonderkitz for an opportunity to review his book.
This is an adorable children’s book about the different “types of hugs “ you can give, fun winter activities and gorgeous illustrations. I thought it was very cute
What a sweet, beautiful book for children! This will make the perfect holiday gift for the little one in your life. The rhyming text describing each hug is as adorable as the illustrations! I don't have grandchildren yet, but that won't stop me from adding this to my personal library! Thank you NetGalley for my review e-copy; this is one to treasure!
This simple rhyming board book is cuteness overload. It expresses happiness and acceptance. Snuggle up together and share the love that is so beautifully expressed on every page. This book is a sequel to the successful, "I'm Going to Give You a Bear Hug."
The book is full of imaginative ways to give and receive hugs. A thread of kindness and joy shows up in each scenario stitching the theme together perfectly.
It is a wonderful wintry bedtime tale ( or any season really ) to cozy up and read together. The illustrations are extremely well done. They are vibrant, cheerful, action-packed and very kid-friendly. "I'm Going to Give You a Polar Bear Hug!" will encourage you to become a well-oiled hugging-machine. Wrap your heart and arms around this fantastic book ! I highly recommend it.
I just finished reading Snow Song by A. K. Riley and Dawn Lo, and I'm struck by how similar it is to I'm Going to Give You a Polar Bear Hug in both premise and execution. Both books feature snowy settings with a repeated word that forms the backbone of the verse. I enjoyed I'm Going to Give You a Polar Bear Hug more, though, because the repetition didn't cross the line into annoying territory.
The pictures are adorable and clearly show that this whole story is an imaginative fantasy. (So, don't worry; the little kid isn't actually hugging polar bears!) It's a story about friends and family and the comfort of a good hug on a cold, snowy day.
I'd recommend this to fans of books like Snow Song, as well as to those looking for stories that feature children using their imaginations.
I'm going to give you a hug is about all the kinds of hugs you can give. Many of which are very creative. I really enjoyed all the illustrations and the use of winter animals. However, I felt like the book ran too long.
This storybook is giving me all the vibes of everything that is comforting!
This is the book I would want my kid to fall asleep with and then me falling asleep feeling safe.
I just appreciate how children's books, especially this picture book, represent the black community. I am really glad many such books are coming out.
I felt so happy while reading this book the small girl giving hugs to all kinds of animals one by one and then having fun herself in the snow! I miss winter already!
This picture book gave me such positive outlook on life.
I say children's books are not just for children.
It's for the adults who read them as well.
I love the illustrations so much! Kudos to the artists for the abundant usage of bright happy colours as the background.
A big hug to you.
This book was everything I needed during this quarantine. A much needed bookish virtual hug. Received. Thanks!
Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC.
I enjoyed this cute book with the beautiful illustrations and story. Nice book that show that hugs are nice to have or give. My daughter like all the animals in the story. We were laughing at different picture that seem funny to us.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
This is an adorable book with a good story. I loved the illustrations and the flow of the words. The sing sing rhymes worked really well and was fun to read over and over again to my daughter. Would definitely recommend and add this to the nightly rotation.
This is such a sweet book surrounding a little girl and all her wintry animal friends. She gives each of them such specific sweet hugs. This book is great to discuss kindness and imagination.
From the author of the popular children's picture book 'I'm Going To Give you a Bear Hug!' comes the winter-themed edition, 'I'm going to Give You a Polar Bear Hug'. This is the perfect snuggle up bed-time tale for the colder weather, introducing children to different polar animals, cold weather and those all important hugs. The language is simple, sing-song rhymes that is fun to read out loud as well as listen to. My son is three and absolutely loves this book, I think all younger children will love looking at the bright and cheerful illustrations and the rhyming language, whilst older children will appreciate the detail. I'd recommend it from about two years old up to about six or seven, although you're never too old for a big hug!
My son says this is one of his favourite books now, so it definitely gets five stars from him.
This book is adorable! Sometimes, with rhyming verses, it feels forced. This story and its verses are not like that at all. The verses flow easily and tell a perfect, cute little story of a girl hugging her daddy.
This book's illustrations are so colorful and vibrant. My kids will love them! I appreciate the characters being POC. That is also appealing to me as a white mom raising white kids.
The cover of I'm Going to Give You a Polar Bear Hug attracted me to the book. Children need to see more diverse characters within universal stories. Though the rhyming text was easy to read, the action-packed, fun, colorful, and inviting illustrations stole the show in this book.
This is a nice book to be added to the winter seasonal rotation of bed time stories full of fun and love.
I’m Going to Give You a Polar Bear Hug is a descriptive and fun-filled book with wintry hugs for all. “Hugs that take away all our care.” This huggable book is for young readers that like the picture books The Runaway Hug and Tiny T. Rex and The Impossible Hug.
This picture book features a small child who gives all sorts of snuggly winter weather hugs from polar bear hugs to fox hugs to play in the snow hugs. The illustrations are very cute and this is a great book for kids from toddlers through early elementary.
This book has beautiful illustrations, but it is extremely short. It would be good for very young children. The Book needs more substance.
"I'm Going To Give You A Polar Bear Hug" is a cute new book from Caroline B. Cooney. The story is filled with simple but lyrical phrasing and an endearing plot that young children will love. The book is short and our family wished it was longer so that we could enjoy more of the story. Overall, this is a great book for young kids.
