This book was excellent and my favourite in this series. I found Paddy surprisingly relatable even though her life is quite dramatically different to mine in so many ways.
I loved the descriptions of the settings, and the theme of a journey is important within this book, and that was portrayed well.
I liked Hal and the author developed a decent backstory for him, which is not always done for the male hero in a romance novel when there's such a fabulous cast of female characters, so this is testament to Liz' execution of the story.
There was some interesting twists which, although a little far-fetched, definitely added an extra layer of drama and entertainment to the narrative which was much needed.
In the end, I found myself really rooting for the characters and caring about whether they got their happy ending. For me, this is so important in a book of this genre.
Overall, a great read that I would recommend and I look forward to continuing to read more from Liz Hurley in future!
This was enjoyable. The characters were easy to like although I feel there were too many of them.. I feel the lot became confusing because of that.
This is such a fun story, not perfect or one of my favourites from the genre but fun, it doesn't take itself too seriously which means we the reader can just sit back and have fun and enjoy the slightly out-there and not very relatable story - but hey, this is a work of pure indulgent rom/com fiction so it doesn't need to be serious or realistic. I actually like that aspect about it, there are times when I am yearning for silly flirtatious characters and entertaining stories and this fits the bill perfectly.
Thank you to Netgalley for a pre publication copy. In return for an honest review #cornishdreamsatcockleshellcottage #netgalley
Paddy is one of five Hiverton sisters. Her sister Ari inherits a lot of land, money and property alongside the title of "Lady." Therefore Paddy as the youngest, is sent to the safest and easiest estate to manage. In Cornwall. While there she integrates herself into Cornish village life. Not only this but she takes part in filming at the estate but she gets more than she bargains for. Will she manage to overcome everything thrown at her?
This is book 3.5. I have read the book before this so naturally moved straight onto this one.
I have also found out this is a part of a series but the author has made note this can be read as a stand alone book or in any order. I do feel it can be read as a stand alone but reading this in order. I feel it couldn't be read out of order without becoming confusing.
Although this book is a romcom. Their are some emotional subjects included such as marriage for money, pregnancy, car accidents, accidental marriage and death amongst many more. However this does not take away from the feel of the book. It adds many twists and turns to the story and allows for these to be explored further throughout.
The concept of the story is great and it provides many tears, laughs and thoughts along the way. You have many different emotions in just one chapter never mind the whole book. It has been put together so that all these emotions seamlessly flow throughout. Intertwining with the growth of Paddy specifically.
Having read this directly after book two. I was really able to feel that the authors writing confidence had grown. She was exploring concepts further and added backstories to important parts of the book. Something I felt book two lacked. You could really tell her writing style had begun to shine through.
On the other hand I did feel slightly shocked when I opened the book and Ari was getting married. Book two there was no mention of Seb at all. Potentially this relationship was explored in book one. Which i haven't read but if it was I feel he should have been mentioned alongside Ari in Book two. If it wasn't then I feel this should have been developed and explored rather than this being presented to us as a wedding on page one.
Lovely feel good book. Great for curling up on the sofa in these cold wet nights. I hadn’t read the first book. But didn’t feel out of place. Great plot. One we all dream of. Very well written
Lovely lighthearted book set in Cornwall my favourite part of the country. There were great characters with a mixture of humour and romance so perfect summer beach read
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Hera Books for my copy of Cornish Dreams at Cockleshell Cottage by Liz Hurley in exchange for an honest review. It published July 8, 2020.
This is the PERFECT summer read! Romance, miscommunication, beach, new friendships, quirky community, close-knit family. Heartwarming with a touch of heartbreak as well. Just what the doctor ordered! I need to read the rest of this series now!
Cornish dreams at Cockleshell Cove by Liz Hurley
The five Byrne girls going from rags to riches virtually overnight when an estranged uncle dies and the eldest becomes a Countess and the other girls become ladies . This book follows the life of Paddy aka Lady Patricia de Foie.
The characters and the humour and twists in the story are all really enjoyable. Another well written book which is a page turner.
I read in one sitting. 4.5/5
It took me a couple of attempts to get into this story- I think my main problem is that I didn't read the first book, and the introduction of so many characters in the first chapter threw me several times.
Then there was an abrupt leap from Paddy moving to Cornwall and the chapter where the main male character appears. I had to go back to check I hadn't missed something.
Once I got past those hurdles, though, it was a genuinely lovely story. I grew to like Paddy and her sisters, and was rooting madly for her by the end.
I definitely recommend reading this, but I would also suggest reading the first book prior to reading this one to get the full enjoyment of it.
The 5 de foix sisters have recently inherited an estate each one given their own job to deal with. Paddy ends up in Cornwall which bid a long way from her job as a successful model. She tries to find herself a new life as well as finding true love.
This is a fabulous book which would be great to be heard from the point of view of the other sisters.
A lovely read with the most darling of characters - it was a real joy to be back with the sisters and have a catch up. A wonderful storyline and a great escape!
A truly beautiful read!. The characters were delightful and so lovable, the setting was dreamy and the author brought it to life beautifully.
A wonderful storyline, a beautiful setting and a whole cast of intriguing characters make this book a perfect summer read!.
Didn't know this was Book2 of a series and have to admit I felt hugely lost at the start of this book - too many people, whom I was supposed to know but didn't, so it all became a blur and very confusing for me (maybe it would've worked on the screen, actually seeing the different characters so you could differentiate them.) As such, I felt the story stalled and took a long while to actually get to Paddy's romance, which I found pretty whimsical and cute, though it had its moments. Overall nice feel-good story. Read Book1 first, though
I've never read a Liz Hurley story before but I'll definitely be reading another. This story was a romantic, chick lit story with comedy, drama and of course a handful of good looking heroes. Really excited to learn that there are more books in this series and I'll definitely be reading more about the Hiverton sisters.
First of all, thank you netgalley for allowing me to read this! Secondly, how beautiful is this cover?! This was such a great book. The characters were great and I adored the scenery as well. I felt like I was in the story! 4 stars!
I loved this book. From the scenery to all of the brilliant cast off characters.....I totally recommend Cornish Dreams at Cockleshell Cottage!!
This is book 2 of this series. I haven't read book 1, but I still enjoyed this one. Charming characters, beautiful settings, and a heartwarming romance make this a delightful read. Loved the book and look forward to reading more books by Liz Hurley. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, Hera Books, for providing me with an ARC of this book.
Thank you for the advanced review copy of Cornish Dreams at Cockleshell Cottage. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and loved the character of Paddy Byrne. I had not read the first instalment of books but will definitely be adding it to my list and eagerly await the next book about the Byrne sisters. What a lovely, light hearted read!
This was a lovely book and was a good beach read. I loved the setting and the characters. I have not read the first book but after reading about Paddy and her sisters I must now do so.
Many thanks to Hera Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I love the cover of this book. It sets the mood for what is in store. This is the first book that I have read in this series. There are a lot of characters to figure out at once. For me the book had a little to much going on and I wasn't invested in any character enough to care that much.
