Tank's Forever Home is part of the Doggie Daycare series. I enjoy reading these books to my grandchildren and this one especially as they have a mastiff mix that they rescued. Tank was found in a shopping plaza behind a refuse bin. He appeared abandoned, but when Kat and Shawn contacted the Doggie Daycare/Rescue, it was apparent that he had been well taken care of. Their family fostered Tank while they waited to see if he was to be claimed or find his forever home. Kat and Shawn are great kids, not only helping out with the rescue, but visiting their neighbour who lives alone. It ends up that she is feeling lonely after the death of her dog, and she becomes attached to Tank. All's well that ends well, but you will have to read the book to find out what that is.
This is a great early chapter book for late primary/early junior children. I love that this book centres on dog rescue and not purchasing a new dog. Tank is adorable and the illustrations highlight that fact. The picture cues will also help early readers with the story. A great story for classrooms when they are learning about pets and care of animals. The back of the book also includes some questions for discussion, always helpful to develop comprehension. My grandchildren enjoyed this book and loved that Tank has a happy ending.
My Review: I am a big supporter of animal adoption and when I saw this book, I knew it was one I wanted to read and share. This was a great tale about a dog finding the right home for him. I like how it is handled in this story, not a dog that was just dropped off but with an owner trying to do the right thing but just not being the right fit for him. I really liked the art style and I think the kids will also like the colors and bold drawings. This is a great book for both little ones to listen to and also for older kids to read aloud.
My Rating: This is such a great story about animal adoption and finding the right home for the animal. It was easy for kids to grasp and may be a great way to discuss why or why not a pet is right for your home. I give it a rating of Four Paws! I hope to see more books in this series in the future!
What an adorable story! "Tank's Forever Home' features Kat and Shawn trying to seek a loving home for a bull mastiff discovered behind a dumpster. They rely on living members of their community to ensure that Tank get the positive attention he deserves.
This is a endearing middle grade story that centers on the value of community helpers. 'Tank's Forever Home' has rich images, so children clearly have visual comprehension to accompany the text. There are also reading comprehension questions at the end of the story. This is a helpful resource for families to help their child understand the main idea.
Whether you're reading this with children for enjoyment, or teaching them how to care for animals, 'Tank's Forever Home' is a wonderful story for everyone!
This story follows some kids who are trying to find the perfect home for a dog they find next to a dumpster. They are able to accomplish their mission. My 8 year-old daughter really enjoyed this story and the illustrations.

Tank’s Forever Home by Carol Kim is a short chapter book about siblings, Shawn and Kat who find a lost dog. Their parents allow them to foster the dog, who they call Tank, until they can find Tank’s owner. The story is a fun read for children who are ready for beginning chapter books and love stories about dogs. The illustrator, Courtney Godbey, has created simple yet delightful illustrations for the book. At the end of the book, the author includes questions to make the reader think about ways that they could help homeless pets.
This was such a short but fun read. I know the book series is about Doggie Daycare but in this particular one, there really isn't much daycare happening. Siblings Shawn and Kat find a young bull mastiff hanging out behind the bookstore one day. They gave him the name Tank because of his great size.. They take him to the shelter for his safety but they go home and convince their parents to foster the gentle giant while the shelter tries to find his owner. One day they go to visit their neighbor and Tank tags along...Well, the neighbor and Tank fall in love with each other but she is not sure she is ready for another dog. So when the shelter calls one day to tell them that they think Tank's owner has been found, it should be great news, right? Except, the owner isn't exactly the owner...he got Tank by default and can't really take care of him as well as he deserves. So who should walk in but the lonely neighbor who HAS decided she is ready for a dog. This particular dog. Yet again, a happy ending for all. Of course, that doesn't always happen and many animals don't make it out of a shelter...but I love any book that tries to teach kids about ways they can help. :)

Tanks forever home is a lovely story about a bull mastif dog (Tank) who is found lost and alone and how the two children who found him find him a forever home with someone who will love and care for him as he needs.
This book helps children to understand what dogs need in relation to time, care and attention and also has some good thought provoking questions at the end for them to think about and discuss.
This is such a cute book. I volunteer with a dog rescue and a farm animal Sanctuary so I am drawn to books that focus on rescue themes. I enjoyed the story and thought it was really cute. The illustrations were also really great. I think this book would be great for an elementary aged child.
Tanks forever home is a story about how to care for a dog and the importance of the right forever home. It is a great story- so many lessons within a short book. It even has great questions at the end to help the kids have a discussion about the book. I love that is emphasized the importance of finding a great home for an animal and that it also encourages kids to spend time with elderly neighbors.
A well writen story about how to care for your dog right. My 5 year old really love this book! It really teaches how a dog life goes. And lets you see its not always rainbows and sunshine but also bad days. And some people do bad things to dogs

Back of the Book: “Tank is a bullmastiff named for his great size. At least, that was the name Shawn and Kat gave the gentle giant after they found him behind the bookstore. The kids convince their parents to let them foster the stray while animal rescue looks for his owner. Meanwhile, Shawn and Kat try to figure out how such a loving dog could come to be lost. What will happen to Tank if Shawn and Kat can’t help him find his forever home?
Doggie Daycare is open for business. Join siblings Shawn (9) and Kat (7) Choi as they start their own pet-sitting service out of their San Francisco home. Every dog they meet has its own special personality sending them on fun (and furry) adventures all over the city!”
Impressions: Short and sweet, but mostly short. My son was disappointed it was over so quickly. I don’t know if that is bad or good?
Liked: I liked the discussion questions at the end. I would have enjoyed more for comprehension purposes.
Disliked: I think the length of the chapters and the book itself was nice for a new to a chapter book reader. The conversations were simple enough throughout the book. I think that the names however of the characters were very challenging for a young reader.
Learned: My son and I got to discuss ways to serve our community and how to help animals. I always enjoy having a thought-provoking conversation with my kids. It opens up teaching and learning for us together.
Quotes: No great quotes from this book.
I received this ebook in exchange for a fair and honest review. As a teacher I love this book! It is easy to read and will appeal to kids. This book shows kids what kids can do if they find a stray dog. I will definitely buy this book to add to my classroom library?

What a wonderfully diverse and helpful book for children!
A lovely teaching resource to open up conversation with children about how to help a found dog.
I enjoyed the message here and the helpful questions to engage and promote conversation at the end!
I would recommend for schools and parents alike.
This seems like an early chapter book for kids making transitions from picture books, or perhaps a high-low book. Although the story was sweet, and positive it felt to me a bit forced with the names used, etc. I thought that the diversity of the characters should speak for themselves through the text and illustrations.
Tank, a gentle giant mastiff, is discovered by siblings Shawn and Kat alone behind the bookstore. They ask their parents if they can look after him until the animal rescue tries to find his owner. The kids try their best also to match Tank up with their elderly neighbour Mrs. Tanaka whose beloved pet passed away a few years ago. She still dearly misses her dog as they were best friends and spent quality time together.
The animal rescue centre has a lead on Tank's presumptive owner. Will Tank finally get to return to his home? Will Mrs. Tanaka be disappointed that Tank cannot be hers? I wonder what the fate of this lovely dog will turn out to be?
The illustrations are lovely but I wish they had been done in colour. The cover is bright and vibrant and pulls the reader into the story. I think the book would have had much more of an impact if all the illustrations followed the cover's lead.
The book has 5 short chapters and questions at the end of the book to think about and discuss, regarding both the the story and pet adoptions. I highly recommend this book.
Here, we follow siblings Shawn and Kat as they try to find Tank’s furever home. As the siblings continue looking for a home, they come across different aspects that may either deter or help Tank.
The illustrations are clear and crisp. Although, I just wished the art inside was in colour—like the cover art as the colours are bright and engaging. Besides that, the art style is cute and fitting to the narrative.
I also appreciate how the book contains some questions at the end regarding the story, sparking discussion on adopting pets, what to do when finding an animal, and contributing to the community.
I'd recommend this book to parents and educators as this book raises great points pertaining to the subject of animal adoption.
