I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a debut novel from this author and it had me engaged through the entire story.
Harper has discovered a little girl, May, who appears lost. Her parents are nowhere to be found and her efforts to get help thru authorities are thwarted. She has history with the foster system at an early age and wants to keep May from the nightmare she endured. She finds clues from a note in May's pocket and decides to include her friend, TJ, who is a retired cop, and an ex-boyfriend, Reggie, who is a cop. All agree that the circumstances are not right as they discover that the clues lead them to an organization that is a Cult and possibly under investigation with the FBI.
Their search leads them on a road trip to Florida where they encounter some unsavory characters. They're starting to believe they are on the right track to get answers as their lives are put in danger and there appears to be two storylines weaving together. The ending is a surprise and well worth the read.
If you are a fan of Harlan Coban or John Grisham, then you will appreciate this story as the pace is continuous with short chapters and constant movement with the many characters. Nicely done!
I will rate Take Me Home by Alex Hart a 4/5 stars.
This book started out really interesting and the author was able to hold my attention for a while until I started getting confused as to who was speaking. If you are going to have multiple protagonists within a story, an author should distinguish between the characters and when they are speaking or when the storyline is jumping to a particular character. While this is an advanced copy, I understand that the book may still need editing. But please, heed to what I am saying. I am an author myself and I try not to confuse my readers when I switch voices within the storyline. There should always be a clear cut indication when the characters are switched to another voice. The transitions within this book are not smooth at all. The storyline jumps from scene to scene to scene and it is really difficult to keep up with. Other than that, the main protagonist, Harper, is an interesting character with a good heart. I appreciate what she did in order to help May.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange of an honest review.
Take Me Home is a twisty, suspense-filled compulsive page-turner that grabs you from the very first sentence and is a book that is virtually impossible to put down.
Harper is shopping in a department store when she finds a small girl hiding in a clothes rack. She is faced with the reality that this child has been abandoned and no one is searching for her. Her decision to keep the girl, May, and start to do some investigating on her own really gets this story moving. This book had a lot of twists and turns, and I was along for the ride. A book that you won't want to put down.
This book was brilliant!
I was gripped from the first page - it was so intriguing and pulse racing, yet true to life.
What if you found a child, who nobody was missing?
This was one of the best books I have read this year!

Every once in a while, an offer to read comes out of the blue. I am always curious as to why and will look to see if it is going to click with me. As a sometimes mystery/thriller/police type reader, this was a book I would be interested in.
The premise was very smart and captivating right from the start. I loved that the blurb told me what to look for...it is so important for that to happen. As I started this story I was introduced to the main characters and they felt complicated, involved, and real.
I was able to understand all the behaviors, the links of who was connected to who, and wanted to find out how it was going to end. Alex Hart accomplished all of that. He also gave us characters I think he will bring back for more books.
I totally think he should.
A gifted copy was provided by author/publisher for an honest review.
Thank you for allowing me to discover such a good new author for my repertoire! Great plot line, interesting characters, I will recommend to friends and family.
If you want a addictive, fast paced page turner this is the book for you. I really enjoyed it. The writing is really descriptive and the characters are believable. The story is a fast paced one set by a little girl has lost her parents, Harper the lady that finds her, is set on a mission with a couple of her mates to help her find her parents, but is all as it seems? I liked the bond Harper has with the little girl and also the bond between TJ and the little girl is really lovely. The story shows how human kind can be kind but can also be very cruel. Would be great to be turned into a film. A very good read.
Thank you for the advanced copy. It took me a couple of chapters to get into then i enjoyed reading it. I like the concept behind it and the way it plays out. Not a book I would usually choose but was drawn in by the cover.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I do not feel the description of this book matches the plot. It started out really good, but I quickly lost interest. I did skim some, but didn't even finish it once i found out the truth behind May.

A good read with required emotions.
Harper tries to return a dress she bought that morning for a job that's fallen through something catches her eye: the same little girl who was waiting there that morning is still there.
The sales assistant doesn't know whose she is. The security guard at the mall hasn't had anyone come looking for her. Same goes for the local police, and the media
In fact, no one seems to be looking for little May at all.
Harper knows from bitter experience what awaits May in Child Protection Services. But, without any clues, how do you put the needle back in the haystack? And who would just leave a child like this?
I loved the concept. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
Thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me an advance copy.
Loved this!!! Was drawn in with the premise of an abandoned child but it was the writing and interplay between the 3 MCs that kept me glued to the page. Not your usual thriller but well executed and with all those niggles neatly tied off for the reader.
