In this reprint, Ron Eggert has compiled short devotions drawn from Tozer's many works. I don't usually like daily devotionals; they often feel surface and predictable. Tozer is none of these things, and although the excerpts are short enough to be read on a rushed morning, almost always I was left with something to ponder. Occasionally Tozer's mid-twentieth century mentality felt dated, but mostly the readings seemed timeless, able to draw the reader deeper into who God is.
Great devotional! I was expecting to be somewhat distant or difficult to get into, but I liked the way Tozer really spoke on the true nature of our God. Wonderful, engaging devotional.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
What can I say? It's Tozer so it's right on the mark for spiritual insight and commentary even if the daily sections are pretty short. If you want a quick devotional (although being too quick will make you lose the depth that's here even in short sections). then this is for you. The only issue I had was with the formatting and spelling issues which were all over the place at least in the Kindle download I read. That's sometimes common though in pre-publication copies so I have no doubt it'll be properly formatted and spell checked when it's published. Full marks for the actual content though. Recommended!
Thanks to NetGalley and Moody Publishers for ARC.
Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy of this book!

You can not read Tozer without thinking: He loved God. He really wanted to please him. It is why I took this devotional (even when I´m not very into devotional books, why then am I chose to give this a try? Because I have enjoyed Tozer´s books a lot in the past. I see him as a very passionate and deep thinker. I remember I shared before how much I enjoy Tozer´s books).
In this devotional book, you have a passage from the Bible, some words written by Tozer, and short prayers. You will find wisdom, hope, and encouragement to love God and His Word. This book is made of several of his writings during his life and short prayers. I think is an enjoyable book where you can grow your love and knowledge about the Almighty God every day of the year. Look for the other devotionals of this series, they are also great.
Another note about the author: I shared before how much it was disappointing to me when I read in a bio about Tozer when they share how He neglected His family. I wanted to stop reading about Him and was very sad to find out this part of his sad story. Then, I changed my mind, I decided I was going to still read his material, toss the bad, embrace the good (that is a lot) but always keeping in mind He was just a person, like everyone immersed in his own fallacies, sin, and temptation. I´m sure all the authors have a lot of sad and ugly things, but not everyone has been exposed to a biography. Also, I can recall every time I remember Tozer, how much you can get into something that you may tend to forget or run away from the most important goals God trusted us in this life, you can have mistakes and still being a tool for others to know about God.
You can read this devotional alone or with your family, I think it is a good idea to involve young readers with this author.
This 365-day devotional is dated and consists of: Bible verse, Tozer's short commentary, and a short prayer. The renown scholar provides insightful commentary that will further the knowledge and understanding of God for any believer, seasoned or new.
#Tozer on the Almighty God by A W Tozer is a 365 day devotional. Tozer was an American pastor for 44 years. He was a pastor , author, spiritual mentor. He was given honorary degrees from Wheaton, and Houghton colleges. He has been respected in the Christian world for years. This devotional is very helpful and practical. He gives a verse and then writes a short in depth message about the verse. I find the messages helpful and practical. The messages really make me think about my life. Thank you to the publisher , netgalley and the author for allowing me to read and review the book . The opinions are my own.
As always, Tozer's writing never ceases to amaze me. Yup, this isn't a review for a fiction book, it is for a 365 day devotional from one of the most inspiring writers ever.
Something about Tozer makes me think of C.S. Lewis's writing. It is deep, profound, and he doesn't hide behind the bush...when he wants to say something he says it.
This devos make you ponder about your relationship with Jesus and what you can do to strengthen it. Tozer's writings are not that easy to digest though. They are not meant to be read in 5 minutes, but instead to think on them sentence by sentence.
This devotional is beautiful. The daily devotionals are small but powerful. I can't wait to read this devotional all the way through. Tozer is truly an anointed author filled with the Holy Spirit.
ps. The formatting of the ebook was not good. There were missing letters and new days started in the middle of a page becoming very confusing. If you do decide to get this book, I would recommend the physical book.
